Thanks glad you guys like it. Importing a quadruped wasn't as easy as I expected, I'm used to humans.

Very nice model. :D But what is the 7th Heaven Version?

That's an amazing model, thank you for having brought it into the game. Now it looks like I have to work harder on my HD background to be on par with that model quality  :)

Thanks, your backgrounds are really impressive. Even just at 50% resolution. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

You are aware you need permission to post alterations and edited versions of someone elses model right? I imported Ashes original model as is, other than fixing minor issues the mesh had. I made no changes to the texture. It wasn't mine to change. If I get comments that the model looks too bright in the game I'll consider editing the texture, but otherwise it's not necessary. I'm not approving this for two reasons. Your edited texture is nearly identical and would not be much of a change to the original, and you either saved it incorrectly or converted it because I can see through Red XIII's hair and the detail in the fur and tattoos are diminished. This needs to be taken down before members who don't check models in Kimera add it to their game.

~Thanks for the admin assistance. If you installed the faulty unofficial upload, reinstall the official release from the first post to fix the transparency issue.

The lighting on the model has been mentioned before and the issue is the imported version is being compared to the fully rendered original. There's only so much I can do when I can only import standard texture files. Nothing you import will look exactly the same as the original. I decided to test what would be the best possible out come of trying to edit the texture to match the fully rendered model. I took a screen shot of the model in Blender and matched the color of each part onto the texture. It's obviously not the same as baked lighting, but it's as close as possible.

(http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r570/cmh175/Untitled-28-1.png) (http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r570/cmh175/Untitled1-21.png) (http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r570/cmh175/Untitled-44.png)

I personally like the original more. The model seems lighter because it was loosely based on the original psx model and the artists own imagination, so it's not comparable to Red XIII's Advent Children appearance. If you guys like how the darker texture came out I'll do some more testing and release it as an alternative version.

~I didn't edit the flame on the tail yet. It's a separate texture file and I only tested this on the main one so far.

Sorry I didn't get time to test the model - too busy  :|  I did have a short go for 5 mins and tried the model in another battle scene, where again the model looks too bright. However (needs double-checking), I'm wondering if the texture brightness are more an issue in battle than in field scenes (I didn't get many field views, though).
Anyway, did you have the chance to compare the texture colors with those of Kaldarasha's model? It could give you pointers...

The battle and field models look pretty much the same for me. Do you mean too bright as in it doesn't look like what you'd expect of Red XIII, or too bright as in he's washed out amongst the background or something?

I cant compare the color to Kaldarasha's since they were made with two different ideas and artists perceptions in mind. The pictures I posted are a test of matching the imported model to Ashes original with baked lighting. I took a screen shot of the original model and used the color picker tool in Gimp to match the colors of each part. It's obviously not the same, but it's the best that's possible with FF7. If you guys like the new screen shots I can release it as an alternative version.

Any chance Barnard's full original model will be available to download, for those who would like the model for non-modding purposes?

Nope. He requested cmh175 to not share the original source material.

Yup, the original model was shared with me for the sole purpose of importing it for use in the game. It's not mine to release. If Ash decides to release any of his work he'll add a download page to his site or something, but that's all up to him. I'd also like to request that no one message him about Red XIII, or any of his other work. He was cool enough to share his model with me so I could import it for everyone, let's not flood his inbox with emails please.
