Any chance of screenshots?  Would like to know if this is worth downloading as the torrent is very slow.  Any chance this could be uploaded to mega?

Bit of a necro post, but figured it's not worthwhile to start a new thread.  Is there a working link for the English version of this mod?  All the links appear to be broken.

Looks like I spoke too soon.  Just restarted my computer and it's back to square one...

I've fixed it...  :o

I uninstalled the game completely, like I have done numerous times in my attempts to get it to work.  I then deleted the bootleg frontend and all files to do with Bootleg and replaced them with fresh copies from the zip file.  Upon reinstallation of Bootleg i had forgotten to change the FMV cutscenes from the default to Rumbah 1280 sharp.  When the installation had completed, it didnt automatically run, but when i turned off the compatibikity mode for windows 98 it worked!

Therefore my problem was being caused by one of two things:
  • BFE needed 'cleaning out' due to something which was causing my issues.  What this something is i'm not sure.
  • There's something wrong with Rumbah's 1280 Sharp videos, but I highly doubt this as they are just video files.

Thanks all for your help and to the authors of these mods for your fine work.

@UGerstl I was afraid you'd say that.
  • My discs are called FF7DISC1.iso, FF7DISC2.iso and FF7DISC3.iso
  • I've tried setting all of the .exe's to Windows 98 compatibility and ensured Run as Admin was checked.  I also tried the different compatibility modes with no luck.
  • I created the discs a long time ago, around the time when the first mods came out.

I have turned off UAC through all of this, with no luck.

This is so frustrating, even with installing the game via the real disc I end up with the same result.

These are the steps I take for installing the game:
  • Install FFVII with no additional drivers, just the game and nothing else
  • Run the game, it runs but with no movies.  I'm guessing this is correct as i did not install the directshow driver.  Should this be installed?
  • Run BFE.exe with the following settings:

During the 'M004d' installation, is it ok to select to make certain choices (such as checking the fixes or enabling the greater than 9999 cap)?
  • This is the contents of the folder where all the mods are held.  Is this list ok, am i missing any or is there some i should not have?:

Hi Guys

I'm having an issue with trying to start Final Fantasy VII.  I have the original game and have created iso's from the discs.  I installed the game, ran it once and it started fine.  I installed some mods using the Bootleg gui and the tutorial for bootleg, with no issues.  Upon trying to start the game however i receive the 'please insert game disc' error.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit.  The datadrive key in my registry is set to my virtual drive (in my case 'H:\').  This is the path on my registry to the DataDrive key.  I have tried it with my physical disc with no success.
This is the path to the key.  Is it correct?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII

Is there something I'm missing as I'm at a loss at what to do next?

Many thanks for your time.

Are you running ff7.exe as an administrator?

That worked!  Genius :p  Now just have to try and finish modding it to play psf's and using the Phoenix Rejuvenation Project.

Many thanks :)

This may sound weird but I can't seem to get this to work... I've followed the instructions and tried it with a fresh install and everything. It says the entries have successfully been added to the registry, but when I start up the game I just have the same old blocky visuals. Any ideas?
I'm having the exact same issue as Raincloud.  Link to my app.log: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=98853ad67cf91432d956df2962098fcbe04e75f6e8ebb871
Dunno if it helps to know but i'm on Vista 64 with uac turned on.  I've changed the full screen to false in the config file with no change at all.

Thanks

So the always run patch just holds Cancel all the time?
This rings major bells.  I think i had this patch installed a year or so ago and I ran into the same problem.  I'm not sure what made me realise the problem was with the always run patch, however upon its removal, all was good again.

Troubleshooting / Re: No music in Final Fantasy 8

The choices I have are 'Microsoft Synthesizer' and 'SB X-Fi Audio [8C00]'
Microsoft Synthesizer was selected when I checked, however upon using the other and firing up the game there is still no joy.

Troubleshooting / No music in Final Fantasy 8
« on: 2007-04-27 12:16:27 »
Hi all

Recently decided that i wanted to play Final Fantasy 8 after not playing it for some time and got it installed with no hassles, bot hardware and software graphics mode working fine.  I did have an issue with the game when i started it up it would go back to the desktop.  It would'nt quit, it would sit in the taskbar but i could not get into it.  This was solved by removing the cccp codec pack i had installed.

The first time i installed it the music would work, both with the totally unpatched and patched game and with the updated dls and svg files.  However because of the issue I had as described above, i uninstalled and reinstalled it several times in an attempt to get it to work.  Somewhere along the line the music stopped playing completely.  Now, everytime i use FF8 configurator to attempt to play the music, whether it is with the old dls and svg's or new, i would get the 'failed' message.  I have tried with all combinations possible in the FF8 configurator and used the 1.2 ff8 patch as well as the updated dls'.

I have also attempted to use the ff8midi file, which encounters a problem and closes, as does winamp when trying to play the FF8 music using Ficedula's winamp plugin.

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled my sound drivers, to no avail.

Im guessing this may well be a problem with my computer setup somehow and not FF8, but I have no idea how as I didn't change anything during this process.  Please does anybody know how this problem could be fixed.

System:
Windows XP SP2
Soundblaster X-FI
intel core 2 duo
asus p5w dh
ati 1900 xt

Many thanks for reading
