First sorry for my English.
Well I put a picture of how will the retexturacion:

Give me your opinion thanks
-
Talk to pyrozen, He is doing retextures for Team Avalanche, but it looks pertty nice. tad cartoony, though FF7 is animish :P
-
wow! i'm glad someone got the jump on these before me! I really like the look of them, my only complaint is the water is way to "blue". Tone it down quite a bit for a dark blue, like the original. Are these already animated? If so i would seriously consider adding these to the WMRP, they are hands down better than anything i could've come up with.
Lee
-
I made a video to show you that water is moving ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BHryhtnWxI
-
excellent!
If you can make these dark blue(leave the spray white) then i will add them to the WMRP as soon as you can get a finished copy to me!
Lee
-
The water other then the above to blue looks amazing, great work. I'm sure pyrozen enjoys it

i can't even begin to explain how happy this makes me! I was worried about the rivers from the beginning, and these are better than i could've imagined! If your interested, i'd like to have you finish to oceans as well. It looks like your more than up to the task! Let me know if you'd like to help finish off the WMRP.

if I'll try to finish the rivers and oceans ..... It took me some time but I try.
PS: the water is so good??? Or should I put it more dark?

I cant find an original to compare it to, But i think it looks good
-
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bd/Color_icon_blue.svg/200px-Color_icon_blue.svg.png)
I thinking a bit darker still, maybe like the 2nd color/1st row. your getting close! I really appreciate what you have so far!
Lee
-
Ok ,I will soon put on a show with that color
-
awesome! let me know when you do the animated beaches for the ocean, i can send you the texture i used for the sand so far. This way anything you do will match up nicely with what i have done already.
no rush either, take as much time as you need.
Lee
-
mm..... this color is ok?
-
to color is perfect, just decrease the brightness and add a bit of contrast and you be should there. Right now it's too bright and it will clash with the rest of the landscape.
-
I did what you said and this is the result:
Is this right?
-
My friend i think you got it
-
hmmm, not quite. Basically what ou have is good but it's wayyyy to bright. All i really need is for it to be about half as bright as it is now, the darker parts should be almost black and the lighter portions should be a deep blue.
Like this:
Open your "hue/saturation" toolbar and lower the saturation until it looks kinda dark, then raise the brightness just a hair. You might slide the Hue toolbar just a bit to correct the colors if they get kinda wierd.
Sorry about all this, i should've just made a preview from the start.
Lee
-
That you think if I make two versions?? one with clear water and other with the dark water so that people could choose which they more like...
PD:I think I'm getting close ....:
-
I really like what you have right there! It looks natural and the subdued colors will fit nicely with what we already have. You can raise the brightness a bit if you want, but i wouldn't deviate to far from what's there.
if your okay with releasing 2 version of the rivers, by all means go for it! If you'll let me package the darker ones in the WMRP/TA pack then users can always get the brighter ones if they prefer.
Lee
-
Here a sample of how it goes:
I think it lacks a touch on the long pieces of rivers ...
I get better tomorrow.
Give your opinion
-
awesome! It looks perfect, i can't wait to see how it looks along with the updated WMRP. All of the riverbeds are finished, so that will just cap these off. Take as long as you need to finish these, we have no deadline so tweak to your hearts content and let me know whenre your ready to incorporate them into the WMRP.
Full credit will also be given if your worried about that.

Beautiful! i love it :-D

Beautiful! i love it :-D
I think i hear wedding bells in the near future. ;)
But, seriously, it is a very nice piece of work! :D. I cannot wait to see what you do with the oceans. :)
-
Very good!
-
I have completed the rivers, now I needed to finish the lake and the oceans ..... Now I get to the lake

Wow! Nice work there, no, excellent work there albertopsp! Definitely join the Team Avalance!

this is the first test in the deep ocean:
What is your opinion?
PD:To you like the meteor?
-
These water textures are really nice and all, and i've been trying to think of what to say, but, to put it bluntly, perhaps they just have too much detail?
They're epic, but being used for this, i'm not sure they really work very well.
What I mean is, if I added these textures and played FF7, I'd constantly be reminded that these are just textures that are repeated over and over, wheras in the original, they didn't realy stick out that much. they look epic, but they just don't blend in too well, you know what i'm saying?
-
If you're right ...... The water textures are moving so they are harder to look good ... In the rivers is good because they are small, but in the ocean is harder to make that look good ....... Anyway I am waiting for Pyrozen me your opinion ...
Thank you.
-
I honestly think that these look fantastic!
As for the meteor, it looks like it's going to hit somewhere else rather than on the Planet Gaea itself. :-P
-
I'm with NeoCloudstrife on this. It does look good, but it needs to blend else it will detract from the other good quality work done with the rivers and grass and mountains

this would look good on a more recent engine, but it is way to detailed for this game. I would use the default ocean as a template and try and stay close to that. The ocean should be primarily dark blue, with just a few very small waves, like the original. Same thing for the lakes as well. The color you have is spot on though, so i'd stay with the same palette, just reduce the amount of waves and make it look more static. Try to avoid any type of directional texures, since they also make the tiling appear. You can see what i mean on the small lake since the textures all run into the center.
One thing i noticed while working on the WMRP, the more detail you add to your textures, the more visable the tiling becomes. Sometimes you can add a bit of noise to reduce the effect, but that isn ot the case with animated textures. On the other hand though, the rivers are looking great and I'd be ready to incorporate them into the WMRP whenever you are.
Lee
-
The rivers and I can give you for you to try on your pc. I sent you the rivers? So we solve glitches ...
For the ocean proves new things to prevent the tiles.
-
Damn, it looks fucking awesome!
-
this is not what you want? No effect of tile.
Before you see it: Do not be alarmed NOT FINISH (Or so I think) I's a joke :-D :-D :-D
(http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/615/111iy.png)
-
The darker blue is much better at conveying the oceans depth. The tiling is also much less noticeable, but I definitely miss the wave definition it added something.
-
Yeah, this darker one looks waay better than the old one- not so tiled like before ;)
Go on, good work :D

i'm really liking that. is there anyway to slightly blend the larger waves back into this image, but make them alot darker than the original image you posted? If possible i think it would be a happy medium between the two.
Lee
-
Then I add something else?
Maybe if I add some effects then stick with tile effect .....
I've bundled :? :? :?
-
what you've got now looks good to me. just a suggestion to try and add a bit of the larger waves back into it, but keep them dark so the tiiling is not as noticable. In the first image, the large waves are very bright so the tiling pops right out, if they were alot darker it would mask this effect. At least i think it would ;) only way to find out would be a test, and if it nots possible then what you have is still great.

I think I'm getting closer .....:

that's EXACTLY what i was talking about! looks fantastic, the only thing i can say is try and reduce or randomize the lighter portion a bit so the "lines" cannot be seen, but otherwise you have achieved near perfection!
Lee
-
I agree! Good work, keep it up!
-
I have approached what you want?(Do not follow the white waves)

yup, looks great!

Continuo yo haciendolo de esta manera?

Ok , sorry to put it in Spanish ... I'm sleepy ... (zzzzz) XD

no problem, i know just enough spanish that i can read it, but i can't speak it or write it.
Get some sleep :)

HOLY cow! :-o
Excellent wow man!
Bravo, bravo, has hecho un buen trabajo amigo! :-D

What is your opinion?

PD: Pyrozen when you want to send you the rivers?
-
Dude, that there is literally almost perfect. you just gotta get the edges to blend with eachother. perhaps make the textures symmetrical?
-
now?
-
I can't see it animated, so i'm not sure if the sides blend in or not. you can keep that white wave thingy in the first picture, so long as it doesn't touch or go off one of the edges
-

Yeah, looks nice :-D

Looks great! I have a question I'm in the middle of doing the underwater textures and I was wondering what the name of the one's you were working on?. I am working on ds1 ds2 ds3 ds4 dsee1 dsee2 dsee3 dsee4 ds_s1 ds_s2 ds_s3 ds_s4 are these the same one's?
-
If there are those, I'm working are: ds1, 2 ... dsee1, 2 ..... ds_s1, 2 .... sse_s1, 2 .... sh1, 2 .... sh_s1, 2 ....
You've located some?
Edit: I have found the lake underwater textures : lake_a

Nope I thought those WERE the underwater textures damn oh well back to the drawling board.
-

looks great! i love how it looks now, i would say the small white wave isn't really necessary, removing it makes the ocean look alot more seamless and it still has enough motion to look convincing.
Lee
-
I remove the white wave?
They are 4 images that change every "x" time, if all images are the same, there will be movement?
-
sorry, i said that incorrectly. what you posted in the youtube video looks awesome, and i wouldn't change anything.
Lee
-
Ahhh ok .. But if you want me to change anything now is the time jejeje
PS I do with the rivers?
-
Shallow sea:
-
the shallow sea needs to match up with the lighter, slightly faded blue of the edge of the deep sea. try to use the original color as source as often as possible.
-
Those bodies of water are looking absolutely beautiful. :-)
-

it looks like he has yet to remake the transitional texture, since it's very stock looking. I think the shallow look good, just make sure your light/dark transistion texture matches the colors of both.
Lee
-
I think the orgiinal color of the shallow water suits better.
-
Now I do it with the original color ...
Then I show the result

the color is better, but a bit too dark now, use a sample from the edge of the transition texture.
-
looking good, as always!

lookin good man

Textures are well?
I would change anything?
-
there definitly needs to be some blending/fading going on between the light/dark areas of the ocean. Right now the line is super noticable, your gonna need to blur that line.
-
If you can fix the blending you are are amazing! it's beautiful
-

I know that is wrong, but it was only to show you how it goes.
in doing that part may take a while ..
-
Look its Zelda wind waker :-D Wonder if that would work?...Making the whole game look Cel-shaded even the backgrounds Hmmmmm....
-

If your having trouble with the blend, send the dark and light files over to me and i can knock them out. Conversely, i could try and explain an easy way for you to do it, but it might be kind of difficult like that.
Lee
-
OK then send you the files.
-
any progress yet or were you going to let me have a go at it? Just curious...
Lee
-
Sorry. I was not at my home. In the coming days I will send the files to modify ...
I send the files. Png for textures folder?
-
png format is perfect, just drop them all in a folder and ZIP them together. I'll be busy for the next 2 weeks so take your time.
Merry Christmas!
Lee
-
here's the first decent result i have gotten so far:
these are similar to the beaches, since they tile randomly and very poorly. Low res made it easy for the developers to "fake" seamless textures. It is much harder with these hi res ones. I will say that finally having the oceans paired with the continents is really a sight to behold! Hard to believe this project is under 6 months old.
Lee
*edit*
here's one i just came up with. strikes a good balance in 90% of areas. Some areas still experiene tearing, but the stock textures were worse than these:
-
Looks beautiful!
Are you working on the sky too?
-
i've been toying with the sky for motnhs off an on. I want some wispy, subtle clouds up there but i haven't really dedicated much time to it. So for the time being i have some simpson-esque clouds floating up there!
-
Wow nice!! Me want this now! lol :-D
-
duuuuuuuuuuuude, wicked
-
GREAT JOB!!!! :-o :-o :-o
-
i figured, well since they are just a quick fix i won't say they look cartoony :P
-
Water looks nice!
I really hope we get a fully remodeled and retextured version of FFVII :P
Or better yet, an official remake :-P
-

It turns out a lot less people want a remake than you would have thought, actually D: Not personally. I don't care about silly things really, just want the remake.
Anywho, epic Textures there. Kinda looks anime-ish, actually - however that may be primarily down to my brain mixing the clouds with the rest of the image. Still, i love it. the only thing that stands out now are the horrible meshes, and of course, that (especially) includes the highwind. I can't wait until the world map is fully re-done, I'm basically just waiting for this before I play FF7 again (this and APZ' field cloud, of course)
