Since this seems like one of the more lively threads around here, I might as well ask this here: where do I start if I was to help out modding models? I'm a professional 3d artist and you can check my youtube page (www.youtube.com/user/yongkykuncoro/videos) and deviantart (yongkykun.deviantart.com), if you like. They're old and outdated but still do help me get a job  :mrgreen:

I dunno if DLPB has anyone else testing releases on Steam, but I personally won't be able to test between today and Tuesday, so if he doesn't have another Steam tester, it won't be out until Wednesday at the earliest.

Been  playing it for half an hour on the Steam version with Beacause, Menu Overhaul, Model Overhaul and Memory Patches (Gypt) Installed. So far I can't tell much difference dialogue-wise since I'm only at the earlier part of the game and Model Overhaul works rather well and looks good with a few glitches here and there (notably one NPC which I suspect has a problem with blinking eyes texture causing his upper head to disappear whenever he blinks). It's such a shame that the Menu Overhaul does not work on the Steam version or maybe there's a workaround which doesn't involve Aali's custom driver? Haven't done much extensive testing on the Memory Patch features apart from installing Glyph which I forgot to try out :(

BTW, is it possible to incorporate another mod for the field models so that we can still have the chibi look as in the original game but with better texturing and enhanced geos?I believe I saw one of those mods somewhere here.

Have just finished googling with one downer, if I was to mod this game then I have to sacrifice Steam achievement. Reckon I ought to finish it first then do the mods just for the sake of it.

sorry, but who are you referring? if it's me, then it's quite alright... if it's not me you're referring to, then next time, please address the person by name.
one question though... what software is that? sketchUp?! try and use blender, it's much much nicer, plus... it's FREE! Or if you can give me a brief summary on the software's capabilities, I might try it out... :D

I'm speechless. That is amazing man. I kinda like your chibi and battle cloud though. The sephiroth one still need a little tweaking with the texturing since some distortion around the face and chest are noticable. And the hands are still missing. Can you give me an in-depth tutorial on how to make those custom models man? I have no problem with 3dsmax but I don't know how to replace the models with the custom ones.

I know there are some tutorials somewhere in this forum, but they don't explain much or don't go too deep with the explanation. So, I really need your help here man.

To squallff8, the WIP is not possible since it has a soft volumetric light.

Actually, Tsetra, it's much easier than you thought. Could have done it within minutes. But that is something that apz freak has already done and he did a very good job at it plus he published it here: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7451.0
So, I'm not going to make a lores version in respect of apz freak's work.  :-) I mean, why bother making something that someone else has already done a good job at?

Theclad, thanks for the effort. Looks like it's pretty hard after all  :-P It still needs to be a little more to the right. Just a little bit.  :-P

Woa.. are you sure about this? coz as far I know, the sword is supposed to be on the bottom right side of the screen. apz freak where are you man... I need your help here.  :-D

the formatting you mean, or the composition? please do post it here as I don't really know how to extract the .p files. How about the 256 color one? I know it's a tad bit big, since most files from ported games like this one is at 320x240 or something.

And I had this strange vision in which I added Sephiroth's masamune sword behind this one and make them both create an X mark. I know it's cheesy, but hey, if it's done right, it can look very good.

I have a somewhat unrelated question here... Who'll be acting director for this voiceover project? Honestly, some of those people's voices are good, but they lack drama and character. We need a director that can make them bring life to the characters.

Alrighty, I'll see what I can do. BTW, how big does it need to be? I'm using the hires patch so I thought that for the sake of crispness of the picture I needed to render it @ 1280*1024. So how big is it supposed to be? I'll still post the hires along with the 256 color for the next version and since some of you wants to use it, I'll make the text smaller...

To synergy, since it's an old windows game, I thought that I needed to go with the windows system standard. If not then yes, photoshop does have a great indexed preset for 256 color. Localed, if I'm not mistaken. So, you guys like this one eh? Apz freak, let me turn the edge side down, then please do convert it for game use. Thanks in advance. Be back in a jiff.

woa, 256x256? That just won't do, man! Are you sure about that? making it into 256 color in itself is a real heart breaker to me. Now I have to scale it down to 256x256? How come it's in square pixel aspect ratio? Isn't it supposed to be in 4:3 (TV) ratio? Well anyway, here's the latest version... comments please  :-D
