Launch Fail

I followed all the instructions as well as made the changes I wanted to make, changed the FF7 exe directory to ff7_bc exe, but when I click lauch I get flashed with a black screen then it goes away. Also another thing, I dont have sub categories of minigames, just one file for it with all the games inside when I configure.

Sounds like you don't have a Sound Device set in your FF7Config. Run the Game Converter again and when FF7Config opens, be sure the drop-down menu for it is set to something, not blank.

So now I get a longer black screen, the blue words play, the furthest I got was squaresoft with chocobo's. After that its a black screen then it says FF7_bc.exe has stopped working and crashes. Update, it seems that whenever I press enter to skip the intros thats when it crashes. UPDATE: Just got an error saying Oops! Something very bad happened/ Wrote crash.dmp to FF7 install Dir. Please provide a copy of it along with APP.LOG when reporting this error

I also want to thank you for your time and your help today. I really appreciate it. I have been trying to get this mod to work since before 7th heaven. This is the closest I have ever gotten so I dont want to give up.

I've looked around a bit, and have found nothing. I apologize if I am being a pest, but I downloaded everything over the weekend, and it took me the whole weekend. I have just been so excited to play this and i am sad that I wont be able to. Im afraid that I wont be able to with these mods, this is my favorite game and I want to enjoy it as much as I can before I get deployed. I know this is all irrelivant, but I thank you so much for spending so much time on these mods for the community and helping all of us to the best of your ability, you have no idea how much we appreciate it. Im just glad more people have been able to get this working.

Another update that I think may help. I tried running a different mod with 7th heaven and it still failed to make it to the main menu. Everything before will show, but when I press enter to go to the main menu, it just fails and crashed. Hopefully this helps!

I don't know what you mean when you say "I tried running a different mod..." The wording can mean many things.

Have you tried deactivating all but one mod to see if it will play? Start with Miscellaneous - Dynamic Cloud Weapons and try to start a New Game.

I looked up your ATI R5 Graphics and it's reported very weak and only good for office use. You might not have a strong enough graphics card to play with any mods that add new textures. You can try going to Workshop -> OpenGL and changing a few things. Lower your internal resolution (go by halves of what you currently have set), disable Postprocessing, disable Pixel Buffer, adjust Texture Memory, enable Texture Cache.

What version of 7H do you run? 1.55 is known to crash after the videos if not all save blocks have at last one save file.

Not positive, when I check the properties it says 1.0.0.0, but im pretty sure I got  7th heaven from your written tutorial

1.54 is fine. You can also start the game wihout 7H and create in every safe block a save on the first savepoint.

Thank you very much for that! Now it will run, however, the battle background and the character pictures are just black. When I run it full screen, all of the words and pictures are blacked out as if they are censored. Its running slow, but I believe thats just my processor and video card. Try to disable the texture mods. I would also change the texture buffer size from 1024 to 512. In the case, that the game runs fine I would activate things step by step. The first are the field backgrounds, after that you could look how the battle and world map textures do work. The menu and magic effects would be the very last.

I started disabling mods as they were installed and I came to this conclusion. The Because/Menu Overhaul was behind the menu blackouts. It seems the game relied heavily on the tweaks and cheats/jessies mod, as when it was removed it just was a black screen and would not start anything. I got down to just these two mods and disabled everything for gameplay tweaks and cheats, but the main menu still had no backdrop, the characters had no pictures, and the background for the encounters was non existent. I made sure I was using the correct .exe version after I disabled Because/menu overhaul. I messed around with the GL driver config and still no results. Any ideas?

I tried to reinstall the patch and create a new profile, I ran only Dynamic Cloud weapons and the black bars and no backgrounds were still prevalent. I feel like that should mean something important but I cant figure it out... Any ideas?

I went and checked the library, it says all the mods are installed, but in the Catalog it says DOWNLOAD, do I need to re-download the mods? I wouldnt think so since they had been working?

Wow, you're all over the place with issues. I honestly don't believe you've done the setup correctly. If you originally downloaded the mods from the Catalog tab, then the Download button will have changed to Installed. The only reason you could have Installed in the Library tab but Download in the Catalog tab is because you Imported the mods. There are two ways to Import mods:

1) Use the Import button in the Library tab.
2) Workshop -> Settings -> Automatically import mods in library folder --- If this is checked, then it's possible to copy mods to a temporary location, reinstall everything, copy the mods back into the library folder, and startup 7th Heaven to get them automatically imported. Of course, any other .iro mods not belonging to the Catalog that are placed in there will import automatically as well.

Either way, you want the Catalog tab to have the Installed button. My suggestion is to Uninstall all the current mods in your Library tab, and Download again from the Catalog.

Alright so I uninstalled all the mods, and now when I try to download them it says

You might be better off just uninstalling and starting from STEP 1 again. Make sure to remove the
old registry keys and start over. Then run the GC again.

Thats what I planned on doing but I cant see to figure out how to uninstall it.
