Just curious, but myst6re, how do you perceive Barret's character?
Do you think his "Mr T" type personality in the English FF7 was acceptable?

It's hard to say, I do not have the English version. :|

heh very nice.  I am not a barret fan but i have to say it looks really good keeping with the theme,  btw Koral you gave me much more crits than this one >.> but its all good.  Secondly not to be rude but i dont have ppl "check" my work i do it the way i want and if its a bit much apz will simply modify it a bit.  But i dont answer to anyone for my models except ofcourse for yuffie fan whos been stalking me >.>   <.<    and thats only for fixes on my yuffie.  Heh my barret is also underway so it will be nice to see how yours goes compared to how much i can move my ass XD.  good job and good luck :D

You both are GREAT modelers! If you make two different Barret models then people will have a choise between two models  :-)
I think that would be great!

As do I, especially if they are in different styles, since some will always prefer the (superior  :-D) traditional style and some will always prefer the one from Advent Children.

Thanks, I've since smoothed the hands, and the things on his chest are his pecks :P. That'll show better when textured. Not sure what to do with the spikes, the engine can't support alpha as far as i know, so for details like rips, its gotta be modeled. I might adjust length and direction of them, but i'll port some new screenies soon.

EDIT:

Hey everyone, have a little vertex colored previs!

Thanks for the enthusiasm guys, texturing is pretty much the next step, only thing first is tweakin a few lil details then i'm gonna model such things as the stub arm. THEN ye shall have textures, i'll probably start that in a day or two.

hmmmm dont want to be a nag but.... i have to point out a few things myself.

EDIT:

something about this strikes me odd... and every time i look at it something just says to me that maybe your arms are a little too miss perportional as far as the face might i suggest bringing the jaw out a little more simply because barret has always had that lock jaw effect (from donkey kong country that freakin fish)  and maybe reduce his leg withs just a little just because when you see him he is very top heavy but legs were no where near same just my 2 cents you dont have to listen to me lol your model your work :)

Oh wow. Looks great! I'm glad someones finally doing someone who hasn't been done before. I can't think of a single Barret Model Swap Mod.  :?
Well, heres some constructive critisism for ya'. :3
Well his head needs to be a tad pointer at the top. And the bottom of his head needs to be way wider and flat. He should look like a triangle that goes flat three quarters up.
Also, he doesn't seem to have much of a beard, this saddens me  :-P
Except for that it looks great!!

hes not done yet give him time, i too know this dilema because before i even say "im done"  people tell me fix this fix that which is useful ill admit just because i dont want to do all the work just to find out something is wrong.  Just take your time man and nice work.

I love his eyes! I love his entire face. He reminds me of Mr Eko from Lost (who's demeanor is probably a more accurate protrayal of Barret, than the Mr. T version, anyways).

I'm figuring the beard's not considered yet, so going with the suggestion of pumping up his eyebrows to give him that intimidating visage he has. The forehead seems a bit too tall, and the ears seem like they should be slightly lower. Other than that though it's looking beautiful.
