It looks great. Are you resizing in kimera?

Now, umm, just to be sure... with Aali's new driver do textures STILL have to be 256 color?

You get more control and see the end results immediately using kimera. If your comfortable the way your doing it don't change, but kimera saves me time when porting models.

Bear- The textures still need to be 256 for pcreator to convert them into .tex files, but the driver can support more from what I remember Aali saying you just have to hex edit the tex file(which I have no idea how to do).

i couldnt figure out kimera :P ah well this way works fine for me. I need to split the model asap before millenia continues texturing, cuz changing the unwrap made for lots of problems in pcreator.

Does the model use tri or quad polies. I thought it was using quads, but also thought ffvii could only use tri polies. So can it use quads?

Cool indeed. I've got only one little suggestion: redraw his eyes. For some reason he reminds me about some old Chinese martial artist. There's also something a bit weird with his mouth. Maybe it's too wide?

I noticed that as well. His eyes and mouth look like they have been stretched out horizontally, giving his eyes a more East Asian appearance.

thanks for the comments!

the eyes are still the original ff7 eye textures, but millenia will soon redraw them. they wrap a bit around the edge of the face so i'll fix that to stay on the front.

The upper lip is a little too tall, and the whole mouth a little too low, so that'll be fixed.

I'm loving this Barret, but I feel that he looks too calm.

The original texture and concept art show him so angry, that his eyebrows are practically melting into his eyes he's frowning that much. xD I think altering the eyebrows so they match the same shape and position of the original eyebrows can make all the difference. Also, I agree with squall, though I don't think it's the fact that he has big lips but more the fact that they seem too 'defined'. Same with his cheekbones, the highlight looks a little awkward. Try smoothing those parts out and I think it'll start to look a lot closer to the original concept art.

I hope good progress is being made on this project. I look forward to the Custom Barret. If you just finish this model in .3ds I'll port it into FFVII for you. Anyway you choose to go it is still a great wip.

the model is done, and split up, just waiting on millenia for the texture!

EDIT:

HOKAY, I decided to take a whack at the texturing, i started off the texture millenia had uploaded, which pretty much just had the face. so in the last few hours i've covered the chest arms and tattoo. Keep in mind, i'm brushing this with a mouse, and it is not fun ><

enjoy.

The new chest definitely looks better!

Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about waiting on Millenia to texture these.  Just keep cranking out models and he'll get to them when he has the time.  :-P Hell, maybe another 3d artist will show up and offer to help as well.

Any way you could edit the face texture so the eyebrows are touching the eyes like in the original concept art?
