What are you trying to import and what is it originally from?

Yeah. That's actually the material setting. I'll have to play around with that.

Just a fire test image. Nothing spectacular at the moment, however, I hope I can produce better resullts for later renderings.

My only problem with it is the colour change between the gun part of the blade and the blade part of it...

Maybe it's just me?

It's the way the parts reflect the light depending on the angle we're viewing it from. Both have the same material applied to them.

UPDATE: I was finally able to get the engraved Griever onto the blade.
After searching around the internet to no avail, on a hunch, I went to deviant art and started looking. I actually found what I was looking for there and Otokoshi, thank you for the images, they helped with finalizing the image i found.
After a bit of photo-shopping and working with the image, I got it to where I wanted on the blade and applied it as a bumpmap.

If anyone is interested, I require a fairly detailed image/sketch/outline of the engraved Griever on Squall's gunblade. I plan to use such an image as reference, or use it directly as a bump map onto the model. Any assistance in acquiring such an item would be greatly appreciated.

It's currently being made in 3ds max 7, but I can export it as 3ds if need be.

I never thought about making it a weapon replacement...
I could release it to the public and I suppose if someone wanted to, they could.

General Discussion / FF8 - Squall's Gunblade

Seeing as FF8 is my favorite Final Fantasy, I decided to try modeling Squall's gunblade. This I actually started months ago and have been slowly working away at it in my spare time or whenever I felt like doing so. Not much, but it looks cool.
There are some basic textures on it right now. They may end up on the final version.

Polycount is 2918, while its 32816 smoothed.

I still have to add a lot more detail to it. The chain on the butt of the handle, the Griever engraved on the blade and a few screws here and there. I'll post more in the future as I add more to this awsome weapon.

You also have to take into consideration the number of people who sign up just to read the forums. I for one am a person who like to read more then post and it wouldn't be uncommon for me to join a site just to read some things from time to time. So if you want to delete accounts with zero posts, take that into consideration and perhaps base it of their activity as well.

If you wish, you could use this image as a place holder for your site background. Feel free to modify it in anyway you want.

Why wouldn't they just re-render the entire movie? That way they can re-animate the lip movments and that way, everybody's happy.

Archive / "Load" menu option possible?
« on: 2005-10-24 11:10:39 »
Quote from: The Skillster
At least there is a quit option, FF8 employs the popular ALT-F4 Combo to quit the game, although in the manual it says CTRL-Q works, but we all know it doesnt

For FF8 The Crtl-Q will quit if you hold it for a few seconds. It takes a moment to actually do anything. As for resetting, Ctrl-R will reset if you also hold it for a few seconds.

Is your video card overclocked at all? If it is, try reseting it back to the manufacturer's default clock speed and see if it helps.

When you use the configuration utility, there should be an option to either play it in fullscreen or in windowed mode.

Archive / I need a ff8 savegame
« on: 2004-07-27 17:28:05 »
Ok peeps, I didn't know where to post this but here it goes.

I need a save game for ff8 pc version that's right after the confrontation of deling on the train or at least after the trian fmv's. For some reason, the last train fmv cannot be accessed from the cd and the game always crashes. The cd is pretty messed up but this is the frist time I've had any real trouble with it. So any savegame after the train incident would be helpful. Though I have beated the game b4 (38 hours) I had this urge to play it again.

Thanks.

Hey, thanks man. Unfortunately, I'm stuck at my cousins house for the week with a comuter that was made like 6 years ago and it can't do anything big without crashing... So I'll have to get it sometime this weekend.
