Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg
« on: 2013-05-31 02:54:18 »
Where did you get 512MB VRAM?
Much is from 2D images which do not need a lot of memory (1280 x 960 x 32bpp eg 5MB).
The characters need something more, but so much?
Or I'm somewhere a mistake in the calculation?

Following what PitBrat says.

The reason he is crashing on start up is this...

INFO: ATI Technologies Inc. ATI Radeon X1250 2.0.6747 Release

ATI Radeon Xpress X1250 = 128MB vRAM

Other System Requirements:
A dedicated GPU with at least 512MB of RAM. Integrated Graphics will NOT work.

I'm sorry, but your GPU isn't strong enough to run these mods  :(

Hi, first of all thanks for dedicate so much hours of your time to improve this wonderful game, and second please forgive my english.....

When i run "BFE.exe" an then click the "Mod Listing" button, the program displays a window with all the supported mods(it is like a cmd window) and there it shows the mods you have on your HDD and the ones you donĀ“t.
My question is how can i extract the information of that window in order to have it in a .txt or .doc format?

I hope to be clear enough and please correct all my mistakes when writting.

You can't extract the information. Why do you need to do this?

You do not need to convert the Rerelease into old, that bootleg done automatically.
Unfortunately, requires bootleg (or Kranmers version) that disables UAC.

My FF7 Game Converter -BETA- works with UAC enabled.

Please make sure to PM PitBrat if you haven't already. We spoke a few days ago, and I believe he wants to do an overhaul of the whole Bootleg process. It's a great program, the best we have, but it certainly could use some work still. I think it's difficult for one guy to do all the programming, and one gal to do all the testing. I'm sure the help would be appreciated...I know I do.

General Discussion / Re: Works. Then does'nt work.

Changing outside hardware, which inadvertently attempts driver changes, seems to affect the game's FF7Config settings. This pops up often enough that I'm taking note of it and will probably add it to the the FAQ section. I don't mind questions like this, since it helps find the bugs we need to know about. Sorry to say, but Bootleg is still a beta phase application, and the public is our main tester  :-P

So I hit another roadblock. Beginning of disc 2, right before you get to the crater/whirlwind maze there's a section with 4 giant icicles to fight. After the first fight it gives me the choice to stay or jump down like it should, but after beating the second one there's no dialogue box and it automatically makes me jump down.

EDIT: Nm, I WAS able to pass it - but only by choosing the bottom option "Jump down to the room below? -> Yes" after each fight which lets me stay up and keep fighting the icicles. Translation mistake maybe?

There are hidden scripts within the game, and the icicle is one of them. Another common place to see is passing along the bridge after Mt. Corel reactor for the first time. There is a discussion buried somewhere on the forums about these places. Apparently the conversion from PSX to PC, or perhaps JP to EN, is the cause...I don't remember the exact details and can't seem to locate the discussion. But basically the UI mods conflict with these hidden scripts, and I don't believe anything can be done about it. The way you chose your options was what I did on my playthroughs as well.

I want to ask a question why this game become fullscreen. I solved other questions.

In Bootloader, click the Configure button. There you will see a check box for full screen.

Zacharias, would you mind uploading your most recent save before encountering Yuffie? Black Chocobo is great, but I'd like to test this myself to fix it rather than just working around it.

I responded in the Bootleg thread: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=12008.msg199597#msg199597

Next time, please refrain from posting the same topic in multiple places. It helps organize our responses for others to see.  :)

Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg
« on: 2013-05-25 16:03:47 »
Thank you very much! I've learned so much from just these little hints here and there i'm starting to get the hang of how it works and i've managed to fix everything I wanted to change, trial and error!

there's just one more thing I wanted to ask, i've seemed to accidentally enabled something that changes the name of all of my Materia

-eg. Phoenix Down is now Phoenix Tail.

I know what I must have selected during the MO process I just wanted to know if I can actually remove this from the Bootleg without having to re-install >.<

Those are MO options. Try running Bootleg again with ReTranslation and the Canon options unchecked. I'm not sure if this will change an already installed MO, so if it doesn't, you will have to do a fresh install.

I know it's a bit difficult to take in all these different options at once, but Bootleg really requires everyone to read about the mods before installing. You can do that in the Tifa's Package thread.

2612
Can you guys post me your Brat code please. It's found in the Installation tab of BFE. Make sure before you copy/paste the code that all the options are chosen that you had installed during the Yuffie materia issue.

If you are installing MO, then use its 9999 break and don't use Bootloader.

If you aren't installing MO, then use Bootloader's 9999 break.

Using both will mess up the alignment of you battle menu.

Yes, I believe it needs to be installed and checked at the beginning.

Team Avalanche / Re: Hello Team Avalanche!

Thanks for posting my channel Leonhart  :)

Ulvenoko, the backgrounds in my videos are not the same as what you might be seeing here on the Team Avalanche forum. They have the same 2D backgrounds as the original game, but with various filters applied to give them a better look. What you see here are 3D models that I'm sure requires a whooooooooole lot more work to make playable.

Ah man, i'm already halfway through the game and the bosses are all mixed up with ordinary opponents. Is there a way to fix this without me having to delete what i've done so far?
I've stuck with the Remastered difficulty and I won't switch but it's still going on. Any advice?

Copy the save folder somewhere safe. Uninstall FF7Music, then FF7, then delete all the junk files left over. Lastly, run CCleaner to clean out the registry.

Next, install the game and Bootleg again. This time, don't choose Mode Switching as your difficulty. Instead, choose Remastered. Once it's all installed again, put the save folder back into the main installation folder.

2618
Sorry for the repost, but still looking for an answer. I have a bootleg folder on my desktop with many GB of mods. After installing bootleg to my FF7 directory, can I remove the bootleg folder from my desktop, or does the FF7 installation rely on this folder? (In other words, during bootleg install, are the mods copied to the FF7 directory?). I'd like to free up some space if possible.

Thanks!

Sorry! I meant to answer this when I read it but somehow it didn't happen. So long as you're satisfied with the game, you can delete the mods.

2619
No worries. I was just giggling at how close we were posting and editing with each other. It's almost like we needed live chat to better communicate  :P

2620
lol you see how they edited their question after I gave an answer? Original said nothing about a controller. Do what CNH said.

2621
Yeah I figured. I'm dumb, I forgot about Tifa's tutorial.

I re-installed everything following the tutorial after replacing the corrupted file.

So now I have the remixed music, but there's still no SFX  :(

Any help? Also, how to change the commands?  ;D

Run FF7Config.exe and reset your sound device. I don't understand why the "no sound effects" gets reported all the time. I can't replicate the issue  :-\

The input commands can be changed once you start a game. It's under the Config option in the Menu.

So shaders work on 13.1 with a 4xxx series?

I might just have to send everyone to this thread and have the OP updated with every confirmed GPU+driver that works.

Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg

Oh hey guys, i'm up to the bit where Coud enters the Shinra building to save Aerith and... wow... there are a lot of bugs here. The bosses seem to be mixed up, i'm fighting Rufus even though i'm not suppose to even meet him yet. fighting the boss at the end of the motorbike scene when i'm not there yet.

Is there something I can do to fix this? I'm fighting bosses that i'm not supposed to fight yet and their levels are much higher than mine

It sounds like you installed Mode Switching for your difficulty, no? It's full of bugs, so I'd recommend picking one difficulty and only installing that.

Hello people. This is my first post so bear with me on this. I'm having 3 issues with this whole setup.

1: I'm having issues with all the mods I set up in BFE.exe not actually being executed in the actual game. For instance, the character models for Cloud and Barret are different from the ones I chose in the BFE interface. Or the beginning game screen loads as "Standoff with Logo" instead of the "Buster Glare" that I chose. Same thing with music and possibly the "Lost Wing" game difficulty I chose.  I wouldn't know because...

2: The game crashes every time after I complete the very first battle. I will win and then the screen goes black. the music is still playing but the screen goes black then I'll get a popup stating the FF7 has crashed.

3: Also another problem that I am having is that I have a very small internal hard drive (30GB) because my old 500GB fried a while back. And the hard drive is pretty full with other things so I use a 1.5 TB external HD. I installed Bootleg and FF7 (everything) on the external. Could this be my entire issue or is it totally possible to run this setup on an external?

1. You're not seeing the mods you chose because they didn't install correctly. This is the result of a user error during the install process. I recommend turning off UAC and any anti-virus programs you may be running before running Bootleg. Was the Mod Listing all green and yellow?  It's good to read the command prompt as Bootleg is installing, and checking the installation log afterwards. I honestly have no other words to give because people make mistakes a lot when installing for the first time, but I can't really address what I can't see. In almost every case they come back later saying they figured it out, and it never had anything to do with the actually mods. Trial and error with good patience will get everything to work, I promise  :)

2. This is because of #1. If mods aren't installing properly, there will be indefinite problems running the game. Fix #1 and this should go away. Please post your APP.log so we may get an understanding of what causes the crash. Please post it with [code ] and [/code ] markings, minus the spaces.
.
3. The 1.5TB is fine.

hey the archive is corrupted how the hell did you guys make it work can you help a newbie for christ sake....

your effing archive is corrupted how the f*ck would i be able to use it....

Vgr is no longer modding and PitBrat is taking a break, so I'm on my own to handle this project until PB returns. However, I will not tolerate that kind of aggressive language. Being your first posts, it's clear you don't understand the years of hard work that has been put into this project. Now you do, and you need to respect that. Be nicer in asking for help next time.
