Make sure you're running Bootleg from an account that has administrator privilege.
Close all open programs and disable any anti-virus software before running Bootleg.
Don't install FF7 to a system folder.
Don't set the TEMP folder to a system folder.
Don't place any mods or FF7 images inside the installation folder.

I got everything running pretty fine but for some strange reason the weapon mods are not appearing for Cloud. Unsure what the issue is as I'm quite new to this however I haven't been able to find a fix.

UPDATE: Did a manual install of a one of the sword mods and got it to work. Still might be worth noting it didn't work with Bootleg though ^-^b

What Cloud battle model did you select?
What sword option did you select?

I ended up trying all of them but no luck until I did a manual install of Millenia's Custom Weapons.exe. Will be fiddling about with bootleg in a bit to see if I can get it to change.

It is most likely you cloud model you are using. 1 of them doesn't work well with maleenas weapons I believe.

For some reason, the battle.lgp mods are not installing on some systems.
I'm trying to determine what is blocking these mods.

Don't use downloaded copies of FF7.
Bootleg only works on the authentic 3-CDROM version of Final Fantasy VII.
International version are now supported.

maybe its possible you need to remove the files from your HD after uninstall before reinstalling. clean slate. give it a shot.

I'm having the issue of the retranslation not displaying despite it being enabled.  I found out about bootleg from a youtube video, and it shows "Let's go newcomer... Follow me!" in the first textbox, yet I still get the original "C'mon newcomer... Follow me!" line.

Did you disable anit-virus software during the Bootleg install? ReTranslated is associated with MO.exe, and it tends to get picked up as a false positive which messes up the installation.

Great tutorial, but the boot loader does not work, and I can run the game directly from the .EXE though. It tries to run the game but ends up canceling and closing out. It doesn't error or anything, so there are really no leads for me to go on.

Helladen,
Did you install the game to a non-system folder such as C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII\ ??
Installing to a system folder like .\Program Files\ or .\Users\ causes problems.

The mods run fine for the most part, except the battle model for Cloud remained unchanged, but yes I installed it in C://Square Soft, Inc.//Final Fantasy 7.

Some systems prevent Bootleg from installing mods to battle.lgp.
Are you running any anti-virus software?
Does the account from which you run Bootleg have administrator privileges?
What version of Windows are you using?

Windows 8, it has administrative permissions, and my anti-virus would of popped up if it did anything - I use Avast. I'll look into it further, but all I use at the moment is Bootleg - UMI/other mods have not been added in yet, because I am still setting up my mod selection.

Hi,

Thanks for this thread its been really helpfull - and has opened my eyes to modding FFVII.

Bootleg is a great tool and has renewed my interest in this classic game - however I am having a problem acquiring all of the mods I need which appear in red in the mod manager.

Most of the Links on the red bars given in the program are dead - especially the mediafire ones... I have found links in this thread which has helped but a lot of them are on filesharing sites - so a 100mb file can take hours due to throttle from the filehost.

Is there a complete mod collection available of all all supported mods as one download?

Perhaps as a torrent?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers.

Check here: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13418

I don't know if it's allowed though. You're supposed to get permission from the authors to distribute their work.

Thanks :)

I had no idea there was this many mods - the torrent is HUGE!

I have been downloading a lot of these mods overnight individually, I just had to brave mediafire's ridiculous throttling.

3-4 more files to go and I am good to go  8-)
