[New Threat Mod v1.4]
The mod rated a sunflower, a half-eaten cookie with dubious fluids on it, and a blueberry out of three stars by FF7 speedrunner XeroKynos. The latest version of the NT Mod is now Live.NT 1.4 Build Download - 6th January 2017 (Mk.2)http://www.mediafire.com/file/eqmhg2oyfm8iica/NT_1.4_Build_-_6th_January_2017.zipNOTICE:
When patching the Steam version of the game, different European languages have slightly different names for certain files/folders. In this case, the flevel.lgp file (located inside the Field folder) and lang-## folder. In order to use the Main Installer with the French, German, etc. versions of FF7 Steam, rename your flevel.lgp (which will be called 'fflevel.lgp' in a French installation, for instance), to 'flevel.lgp' and your lang-## folder (usually lang-fr, lang-ge, etc. depending on the language) to 'lang-en' instead.
Run the Main Installer after renaming this file and folder, and it should patch everything successfully. Then go back into your FF7 installation and rename the patched file and folder back to their original names (so flevel.lgp back to fflevel.lgp, lang-en back to lang-fr, etc.)7H IRO Version

It's a separate installation method to the Main Installer, and can be found EQ2Alyza's mod catalog which

Hello, and welcome to the New Threat Mod. It's sometimes called 'The Threat' Mod because people think it's a new version of an older mod. This is not the case. Let's just call it NT.
This mod aims for a reasonable but fast-paced level of difficulty, something that can be played seriously or for fun and which offers a lot of new content to discover. Bosses and enemies have been revised and a bunch of new ones are joining their ranks. There are also extensive flevel edits that allow for the use of different party leaders on Disc 3, an Extra Battle where the player can unlock new bosses by trading in items, additional side-quests, and a range of optional cutscene skips, additional save points & merchants, and other conveniences to ease gameplay for those feeling a bit jaded with the game.
This mod also allows for the use of Aeris past Disc 2, because why have eight when you can have nine? One of the parameters with this was to keep the 'footprint' this creates for the story to an absolute minimum. By and large, events play out in the same way; only a few lines of dialogue needed to be altered slightly to make it work. That being said, I'm always open to feedback on how to make improvements to this particular aspect of the mod.
Finally, there's always scope to expand the mod and add additional content. If you have any suggestions for things you'd like to see in the mod, within reason, then let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also, while this release was tested for bugs and a lot of the issues from the older versions were fixed there may still be a stealthy bug or two lurking around so if you spot anything unusual, or if the game messes up, then feel free to leave a bug report. Just remember that the more information you can provide (i.e., what you were doing at the time, what other mods you have installed, etc.), the faster I can fix it.
For more information about the mod's features and the changes made to equipment, spells, and items, check out the ReadMe file toward the top of this post. Hope you enjoy the mod!
Installation is relatively straight-forward and covered in the linked video. Download the patcher, run the patcher, point the patcher at the 'data' folder inside the FF7 folder, and then let the thing work it's magic. Remember to make a back-up of your data folder before patching it.
Periodically, issues may arise with the mod that need to be patched. Hotfix patches are designed to fix these issues while avoiding the hefty download of the Main Installer. They function in the same way as the Main Installer, and should be applied over the top of a Main Installation.
Finally, the 7H version of the mod uses the IRO file. This IRO is completely separate from both the Main Installer and the Hotfix Patches. You'll need to be playing FF7 through the mod loader '7th Heaven' in order to use the .IRO version of the mod, which is by and large much more compatible with other mods and will likely sport additional features over the regular NT Mod (note that these additional features will all be superficial, and will not be critical to playing the mod).
NOTE: Chrome and other anti-virus programs may flag these patches as malicious, particularly after they've been updated, most likely because it's an .exe program that can make changes to files inside the Program Folders. Only download the patches from links found on this thread or from the related Youtube channel and to follow installation instructions to avoid issues. If trying to download through Chrome, it may be necessary to go into 'Downloads' and recover the blocked file (which is what I had to do after downloading my own patch moments after uploading it; at least they added a Doom reference).
