Cloud needs to be recast.

Same procedure as before.

First who fits the job gets it so hurry up if interested.

I use IE9 and it works very well.

I stopped seeing a need to install firefox after ie8 came out as I don't use the extensions anyway.  The only ads I disable are hover-links and I can do that from within IE by blocking the proper domains.  Gotta support free websites by loading the ads.

And IE9 has lots of vertical real estate.  I haven't used chrome since I tested version 1 but the vertical UI is actually very similar to what I remember space-wise.

I had the same error.

turn off the option to slow down the battle swirl.  It'll still go at regular speed and the message will disappear.

FF7Voice / Project has started!

Just wanted to give a small status update.

The director has started receiving the recordings from some VA's for the first part of the game.  What I've heard so far is extremely good quality so this bodes very well for the future.

Once we have every actor's lines for a scene, they'll be sent to the sound edtior to be cleaned up and normalized and they'll be inserted into the game by myself.

We'll release our progress as youtube dubs as we move forward.

The sound pack and application release will be done when the game is completed as it'll have allowed us to put Dizugo's program through its pace, tweak it where needed and release an actual useable installer instead of a dev release.

disable_popup = yes

Thanks that did it.  Didn't have that option in the config file so I had to manually add it in.

yarlson and sl1982 had defined nice settings for their perfect resize methods.  They should be able to provide you with their ideal settings.

I think yarlson investigated these a bit further than sl did.

Is there any way to hide the yellow GLITCH messages in game ?  I didn't see any obvious options to do so.

I'll be doing a recording and I'll want them not to appear.

I wonder if it would be possible to code in an icon when barriers are on.

I'm thinking this is the way to go myself.

FFXIII icon's worked great for that purpose.  Having them flash as they're about to disapeear would also be a good idea but is probably beyond the scope of this mod.

I like the top one better, but would much prefer it without them altogether personally

I also feel this way.

Great progress by the way.

Role was cast.

Closing.

edit : role re-opened.

More roles will be added at a later date.

I'd like to use this tool to repack the backgrounds since I'll soon be starting a video recording process for the ff7voice project and I'd like to have the best possible backgrounds.

However I wanted to know if the algorithm was fine tuned to give the best possible results and if any artifacts would remain after palmer's latest update ?

Mic quality is an important point but you should try to submit something regardless.  Sound editing will be done on the material.

If you get picked, a fairly good quality mic is only 10-15$ and I'd suggest getting one at that point though.

I really doubt my friend gets his voice deep enough for barret. He's more Reno / Hojo / Rufus type
I think the main problem here is that barret-voice-like people are not exactly the nerdy type

You'd be right to assume most black guys don't seem to be huge ff fans for some reason, based on the auditions we've seen.

As for your friend, is his voice is deep enough to be Rude, I'm sure some minor voice editing on our part could get him there.  Please ask him to send something in.  We can't move forward without a Barret.

Why not just get someone to do the voice acting then run the samples through a program that will deepen it, and just mess with it from there?  Seems like the best bet.

That's exactly my plan.  However, the voice must have some inherrent qualities to start with.  For example, the director's voice who is somewhat high pitched can't come close to doing a Barret without totally destroying the sound bite through editing.  That's why a deeper voice, even though it might not be "Mr. T" deep, would probably work as sound editing could get us there for the remainder of the way.

Edit : All roles cast EXCEPT for Barret.  Recording will not start until a suitable Barret is found.

Try and we'll see.

The audition lines are in the VAA thread.

We're still looking for a Barret for those that don't look in the ff7voice subforum.

While other characters could be cast right away as we've got quality auditions for them, you can still send in recordings.  However, the auditions will be ongoing until a Barret is found.  If you think you can do it, please send something in.  If you know somebody who you think could be interested, please let him know about this.

Some level of sound editing is also possible so if you have a somewhat deep voice but just think you don't have a black sounding voicetype, please send something in regardless and we'll see what can be done with it.

Details in the thread linked above.

*Still* no Barret.

The rest of the cast could be completed now (even though you can still send something in for others as auditions aren't officially closed yet) but we can't move forward without Barret!

If you know anybody who'd fit the part, please let him know about this.

Again, no Barret.

Another extension.

Some sound editing to the voice is possible so if you have a deeper voice naturally, please do send something in.

I'm itching to start recording!

We're in the final 24h of the first audition and we still haven't received a good barret audition.

If anyone sounds like Mr T (or knows him!), send something in.

Audition lines are in the VAA link.

Thanks.

That's the director's call.

However, from past experiences, Cloud was baddass and detached as he should be in the early parts of the game.

Because we haven't received many auditions and we want this to be a good quality project, the director has decided to put out a casting call to a voice acting community : http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/showthread.php?65840-Final-Fantasy-VII-FanDub-HD-**-CASTING-CALL-EPISODE-1-**

The actual audition process will be held through e-mails but will be directed from there.

More roles have also opened up and group recordings have been dropped as we felt it was a hindrance to receiving auditions.

All who wish to apply are welcome to!

I haven't e-mailed any of the old cast.

I also figured you'd like to apply for Hojo the most.

And yes, you may still send in auditions.  No decision has yet been taken.
