I dislike it too...

...but I just got word not ten minutes ago from my boss that my whole company has to do it. Lucky me, at least I get to be behind the camera.

This is how I feel about that

For all you ice bucket challenge haters out there... ice bucket challenge donations hit $70.2 million(July 29 to August 24). Yes that is like 30 million since Thursday

http://www.alsa.org/news/media/press-releases/ice-bucket-challenge-082114.html

It is absurd how successful this fundraiser is. I hope this all leads to Jason Becker picking up a guitar again  :)

I know i'm late to the party, But i wanted to comment in that time frame Bill Gates donated. Which is probably where half of that 30 million came from haha

As much as I hate to say it, DPLB is right, Africa has warlords, corrupt governments, etc taking aid money and donated food for themselves, it's a wasted effort for the most part.

Africa may never be "fixed" in several lifetimes worth of effort, ALS could potentially be cured/prevented or at the very least suppressed in less than one lifetime if the 10 or so million that actually goes into research is used well.

Also, wasting water? The planet's surface is something like 60 to 70% water and a large portion of that is many miles deeps, gonna be a very, very long time before that gets "wasted". The problem is Africa's eco system, kinda hard to do something about that, there are already teams working on piping clean, fresh water to remote villages anyway.

You'd think this, but politicians are too corrupt to fund water treatment plants (technology that is cheap and available). I used to live on Oahu, an island only 35 miles wide, and we had a water shortage every year.

Hey man, you cant know for sure whether or not people have been dumping potable water or some other kind of water. Tekkie... you can drink ocean water? Are you a deep ocean sea creature by chance?
