General Discussion / Re: FF7 remake discussion time!
« on: 2020-04-04 16:18:27 »
Yes, kinda, now very low

Not gonna lie while Im generally favorable towards everything regarding the remake up to this point, I have to say the absurd changes and "plot twists" revealed in the final trailer and by people who already played it are fcking stupid, so that definitely put a relatively big dampener on it.

Not the fact that they changed the original story and werent 100% faithful to it, which is something i never cared about, but the time travel/alternative timeline/guardian of fate strawberries is something even i deem as borderline retarded an most definitely cringe...wtf?

Gameplay and visuals still look fantastic and im still very much looking forward to it but yeah not gonna lie most recent news I would personally qualify as purely negative for me :(

*edit* also heard (although mayb "understandable" since its only within midgard) that despite the announced apparent "significant" endgame content, there are no real superbosses which have always been a major part of enjoyment from ff games for me, that thats also super disappointing, in fact almost as big of a dampener for me personally as the braindead story changes.

Oh and the fact that the "60 hour main story" is more like 25, although expected considering how companies usually heavily oversell the expected playtimes, is also kinda underwhelming.

What a shame ;/

ikr, almost everything i have heard about it has been disappointing, i really really wish they would have embraced some of the old-school in the game, instead of just trying to modernize the whole darn thing

edit: thanks for moving Alyza, didn't see there was a FF general discussion

You getting it? Willing to pay full price for it? Have high/low expectations?

for me:  yes - yes - low

i'm an option 2 guy

Did anyone get any crashes at the Speed Square before?  Because this will be why.

yup, i learned to make sure i save right before attempting to get through the speed square (if i made it through once, going through a second time without restarting the game was a definite crash), i figured it was the texture/memory issue that everyone is/was having

and kudos on fixing the gun effects, that was killing 60fps battles for me

Releases / Re: [FF7PC] ChaOS -Character Overhaul Seven
« on: 2020-04-04 01:33:18 »
Thanks for the answer.

Another quick question, I've just reached the end of Midgar and Cloud's model for the world map is vanilla. I believe I installed the mod correctly - the word_us.lgp from the lgp_out folder has been placed in data > wm, but it hasn't worked.
I could get around this by enabling the character overhaul in the Reuinion options.ini...but that only has the option for Cloud with the buster sword, and I don't want the sword on his back.

i also have this issue, the model for the chocobo races is vanilla as well, i also dont want to enable character overhaul because the bugenhagen sitting model just makes more sense to me :P

Reunion Database - and help files ;)

no mention of anything i mentioned in the database, and although i see a mention of a 'Reunion-help.rtf' in one spot and a 'The Reunion - Help.rtf' in another on the first post, its not linked nor do i see such files on my pc

i have no doubt its there somewhere, but sorry for not seeing the needle in the haystack... i'd actually like to see it if i could find it

and i could probably beat FF7 in a speed run faster than i could read that entire database, lol

356
not really a bug but i just realized for the speed up mode 8x is really just 4x, there is no increase of speed when switching from 4x to 8x

sorry if you already know about this (didnt see it posted), 4x is plenty fast enough imo anyway and i wonder if 8x would cause a crash very quickly

edit: does reunion fix the w-item glitch? does reunion fix the 2 mystere (mystile) armors in northern cave glitch?  i think i know the answer to the former but definitely unsure and would like to know the latter (this is my first ever play-through on any pc version, i aint playin' with friggin open mouth models)

357
There are ways around it -- I was able to get sound by plugging both the HDMI (for video) and an aux cable through an adapter into AV cables on the receiver

you cant plug the hdmi straight from the pc into the TV just for the video and then only run the audio through the adapter?

i've had a similar situation where a certain TV would not play game sounds through hdmi (from my ps4), but the ps4 itself would play all audio from its OS just fine, and you hear clicks from the menu and all that... but as soon as you played a game... no sound from it

never did figure out a solution other than to use something else for the audio

How can i earn my trust back of me having my pm powers back on this board then

any ideas

invent a time machine?

359
Big Brawl for cid is set to ludicrous speed, lol.

I cant help but notice that no one said anything about my Spaceballs reference.

Step up your !$&@ing game, Reunion users.

with new translation on and model overhaul on there is a glitch with the ruby weapon model: it appears an emerald weapon distorted
with new translation on and model overhaul off no problem

Weird, I have model overhaul off with kaldarasha's models installed manually (with his lgp installer) and I'm not getting this

I've located problem area for the firing effect.  I had to literally go down every function in the main battle draw function - branching out.

is it looking like this will be fixed in R07? finding a problem and being able to fix it are 2 completely different things, unfortunately... haha

360
what exactly is the problem? if the game is running and reunion is working, what is the problem with game working in 1998 version? you can get steam's controller mapping to work, and you cannot get achievements with reunion, so if you clarify the actual problem you are having it will be easier to help

as said in the second post, reunion bypasses the steam code and changes the game a bit to make it work

steam should recognize the game and launch it though, if not then you probably need to uninstall all mods, then the game, restart, then reinstall game, reinstall reunion

Hey, folks, I'm new to this forum but searched around briefly and was unable to find this talked about anywhere else, so here goes:

I'm modding FF7 for the first time, and it's been a whole process, but I had gotten the few essentials I was looking for (The Reunion and Remako field upscales) up and running together on my laptop, as well as my Switch Pro Controller functioning properly with the game.

My intention was always to hook this all up to my TV and sound system and play console style, but when I did, something very strange happened: *some of* the audio refused to play.

Specifically, cutscene audio plays just fine (both the opening logos and the opening FMV played with no trouble), but gameplay audio is 100% silent. No music, no sound effects (all I tried doing was running around the Mako reactor), and no menu blips.

When I unplug the HDMI and revert to the laptop, all the audio is present, and if I disable The Reunion and play the game through the TV speakers, the audio works just fine as well.

I'm really truly at a loss as to what could be the problem. I tried disabling a couple of the sound things in the options.ini but that didn't make a difference either.

I don't know if anyone else has had this bug, but any help would be incredibly, greatly appreciated.

why is "and play the game through the TV speakers" italicized?

you said your original problem was with TV and sound system, is said sound system the TV speakers?

if so i would try usb speakers or speaker(s) with 3.5mm jack

if not i would try to use another output other than hdmi for the sound, do you have a receiver that you can run digital optical cable or any other sound carrying cable to? (composite, 3.5mm, etc)

363
As per my issue above (more details provided), I have now tested the game with The Reunion on another TV via HDMI and the problem of no sound in-game (but sound during cutscenes) persists on that TV as well.

i've had weird issues when porting sound out of a laptop hdmi before (certain audio playing, and not playing others), i dont know why, but sound coming out of hdmi can be finicky

i'd recommend using some usb speakers (or ones that plug into the 3.5mm jack) alongside the TV for sound, successfully troubleshooting your problem is a slim chance, not to mention a nightmare

364
thats interesting that the whole thing is linked with another bug...

i figured it would be a simple fix, whoops  :-D

365
i'll investigate.  And definitely doesn't happen with 60fps off?

Correct, has never happened with it off, and i've played the majority of the game with it off

366
Press Square / Switch if using New Translation.

If not, the old way was to try using antidote/elixir etc on yourself. A box will pop up with the status.

aye yaye yaye, just square the whole time...

anyway: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ne84KMA3OuZniHr2voSchicqj_9KJfSj/view?usp=sharing

edit: it doesnt happen every time, but more than 50% of the time since i discovered it, also i havent left this underground tunnel and tested that either for the record, nor have i tested for mode 2

367
I need you to double check the status as you play.  When it stops, look at the status IN game.  It's likely a bug.

this is something i have been wondering, how do i check status effects in-game? select just seems to bring up the name, how do i check what status effect a character is under on the battle gui?

368
Are you *sure* this status is slow and not stop?  Check submenu for the status.

100%

this move from this enemy slows as normal when i turn off 60fps battles, and also i can attack normally and the time bar fills as normal with the animation like that the whole time

and also i casted slow from the time materia on cid and the same thing happened

369
@Orichalcon
Do you have a video to illustrate it?  I haven't seen it before.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/17xxPHDzogYoXPalvG9WX-a68OZN-CTc1/view?usp=sharing

this enemy shown doing it is how i figured it out, but i then was curious if it was just this enemy move or the status effect slow, so i slowed a teammate in the next battle and the same thing happened

370
another one:

-with 60fps battles set to 1 the status effect slow has the stop animation for all my characters, they looked stopped, but can act and are just slowed, i can repeat this by just casting slow on a teammate, and slow works normally when 60fps battles is turned off

371
as i am nearing the endgame, i have been experimenting with 60fps battles and a few other things

when fighting diamond weapon with 60fps set to either 1 or 2, the audio for his stomp attack is very out of sync (its sound effects when he is walking up, not the actual stomp)

also when 60fps is set to 2 (interpolated), Big Brawl for cid is set to ludicrous speed, lol.  Sometimes it wont even show cid leave his original spot, it will just be a close-up of cid and then the enemy dies, havent tested with no interpolation

both of these issues go away when 60fps battles is turned off

edit: i was actually looking in the database and saw a chocobo racing bug and a question "does psx version work the same?"
     - I can confirm that green chocobos in the PS1 version were NOT slowed down in water, and blue chocobos were indeed slowed down in the water section (of the long race)... they for sure mixed those up, I cannot comment if any slowdowns occured on hills, but I do know with 100% certainty that the bug in regard to the water section was present in the playstation version

372
All those effect are in the dfx_00.png file
No bug here.
But ff7 driver don"t deal well with alpha channel so as long as this file exists you'll have some alpha bug on world map.
If you don't want alpah channel bug, delete this file, but you'll have pixelisated world map fx instead.

interesting... thanks for pointing me to that file, i'll play around with it

i was thinking this bug might be a confliction with kaldarasha's models or another mod but i uninstalled everything but this and it was still happening, i still need to try reinstalling the whole mod i guess, whatever happened i guess the damage is done

this mod really is breathtaking though, freakin' sweet  (cant believe how much detail they put in the original game, just to have it so blurry you can hardly make anything out)

edit: removing that file fixes it, however, the default animation for the highwind going over the water is so bad i'll probably just deal with the bug, haha, i may end up reinstalling ff7, reunion, and this mod to see if that does anything

373
sorry for the double post, but i did some testing and stuff and this is indeed a bug on the world portion of this mod

the buggy exhaust animation replaces several other animations other than the 2 I listed as well, (like when riding on a chocobo in forests, as well as just running through forests with Cloud, the tiny bronco's water animation, i think i found one on the highwind  as well but dont remember the condition)

why do people like to take away my pm powers for

I thought you were gonna ask when its most appropriate to send a d*ck pic, 1st date or 2nd date.

The answer is definitely 1st date. (not after, right in the middle of it)

I know it's kind of a pain, but I've been saving, exiting, copying the save file to My Documents > Square Enix > Final Fantasy VII > user xxxxx directory, disabling The Reunion in Options.ini and booting the game everytime I'm about to reach the criteria for an achievement, getting the achievement, quitting and then reenabling The Reunion again.

It's not too bad since there are very few achievements and the requirements are easy to track.

when i first installed r06, i looked in each and every folder and subfolder in the The_Reunion directory looking for a save file so i could do stuff like this (and help test some bugs i was getting), didnt find it, then gave up... now i see in FF7's root folder there is literally a folder called 'save'
