Ged's posting updates every few days, it helps to have this thread bumped.  He's doing a great job too, changing the title of the thread and all to match the latest news, very useful for lazy sods like me who can't be bothered to go on Adventchildren.net.

I've already asked one or two people to resize their avatars recently, and just PM'd another now.

Darkdevil:  Nobody has overly large avatars, but some of them still break the rules.  Back in the old days we didn't have avatars!  It's just a lot nicer to browse through the forums without large avatars in your face and clogging up your bandwidth.

As for the rules, I'm not entirely sure what the exact limits are.  I tend to ask for a resize if it's 100x100 or over, or if it's over 50kb.  AFAIK, jpg and gif images are allowed, and probably those php ones as long as they're not malicious.
Perhaps Qhimm could enlighten us on the rules?

I guess I'm the only one that didn't get all bent out of shape by the Yuffie subquest.

She'd probably be the cutest in the film, in those little shorts. :erm:

I didn't get annoyed by her sidequest either, except the one time I accidently landed on the Wutai island using the broken down plane, had spent no time levelling up, and so found that boss at the top of the Wutai mountain thing a right arse.

That's right, Golbez donated today.  I imagine he did it after the ban, considering his attitude before.  Though I can't imagine it has anything to do with the ban since he'd already shown his feelings about staying.  Perhaps he realised that Mofo and Rubicant's acts did cost Qhimm, or maybe he donated it on their behalf.  I'm baffled.

Poor kid, dug himself so deep he couldn't see the light.

As for comparing him or the attackers with Joey, Joey wasn't half as bad.  He lied and stuff, but didn't attack the site or its members IIRC.  Golbez is just a kid.... or a moron, with no understanding of what an argument is, or possibly no understanding in anything at all.
As for Mofo and Rubicant, I'm surprised they sank this low.  Refreshing to get the counter to 666k is even sadder than the guy who wants to reach level 99 in the first reactor.

The Spirits Within was on TV the other day, made me realise how bad this film could turn out.  Also made me wonder; why does the the Square Pictures logo have a rectangle for it's background?

I'm a little curious, how did you lose Vincent's weapon in the first place?  Did you sell it?  If so I suggest you use Jenova to put it back and, if possible, remove the cash you got from selling it (just so you don't feel like you've cheated).

General Discussion / FFVII 'Ultima' edition?

The Ultima edition has been floating around the net for a while, it's not official or anything.  I don't know all the details, but IIRC the compression's been replaced with a more update version to fit it on 2 cds, all/most of the XP problems have been corrected, and as you say the music's been replaced with MP3s to sound like the PS version (I think), can't remember what else.

It's certainly not legal though.

I'm guessing the argument won't carry on here now that Jari's made a new thread.

PumpkinPieman:  I liked the video.  That old fashioned video-reel look worked well with the earlier scenes, made you expect something new to come since it was showing the past.
I think Rubicant was expecting some ingame footage, though I don't think it would have worked well this this video.  The FMVs provided a nostalgic overview of FFVII, ingame footage would have detracted from its theme.
Makes me want to play FFVII again, haven't played it in many years.

I remember the whole Butcher thing on the Eidos forums.  I don't know if SirCanealot started it, but he was involved.  I remember he said he found all 35 of those "1/35 Soldier" items, but they're like hidden randomly throughout the game in difficult places.  Was quite funny.

The Piano Remixes i liked the best.. I listen to them when i sleep.. ^_^

Me too!  So relaxing.

FFVII's probably my favourite OST, but FFX's also very good, then FFVIII, then IX.  VI is pretty good too, but I'm always put off by the sound quality.  Give me Grande Finale anyday though.

It was the first one I played. Maybe it makes a difference what one you play first?

I agree.  FFVII's probably my favourite, and it was the first RPG I played.  It also makes me feel quite nostalgic when I hear it's songs and stuff.

FFX - Almost my favourite, loved the storyline, soundtrack, range of difficulty (dark aeons), and I liked the whole sphere grid system.
FFIX - Completed close to 100%, but the storyline was lacking a little, and it was far too easy.
FFVIII - Very difficult when I was younger, but I thought the ending was great.
FFVII - First one, very good all round.
FFVI - Very good, never got round to finishing it though. (Graphics whore? Probably)

Hmm... I guess FFVII's my favourite, then FFX.

Yeah, way too Matrix-ey, especially with the glowing green background it changes to with the logo on.  Too much Matrix!  Even the latest Ghost In The Shell series seems to be doing it (kinda ironic, eh?).

My friend has an ESP, can't remember which model.  Very nice guitars.  He wants to sell it to me after replacing it with an Ibanez, but I'm not sure, it's all a little too "nu-metal" for me.

I'm sick of my Fender strat, I wouldn't mind a Gibson, though I find their shape pretty annoying to play with (but they look damn cool ).

As for a hotty FFX character, I used to prefer Rikku, but these days she just reminds me of Christina Aguilera .  Maybe it was just an early adolescence blonde thing.
I now prefer Yuna, which is odd, I vaguely remember arguing with Mark that Rikku was hotter.

Lulu ain't bad either, but she was too serious in the game for me to consider her sexy.  Although, that bit of cosplay is pretty damn good.  I'm not really into the cosplay scene, but I remember seeing this girl's site somewhere, she's pretty good at doing a range of FF characters.  Probably Rinoa and Yuna being my favourites.

Odd, it appears to have been released today. Quite sudden, I hadn't heard anything about it.

Anyway, here are some links:

I'm getting hold of a copy as I write this (), so I'll give you a quick review when I'm done.

I'm quite shocked. This must've been released to build the hype for FFVII:AC. Did anyone else know about this? FF's Piano Collections are great, I'm so glad they've finally released one for FFVII!

Update: Well, I've given it a listen, it's great! Makes me feel very nostalgic, I haven't listened to any Final Fantasy music in ages. Although I'm not sure if it's any better than the other Piano Collections, it's hard to say. It sticks fairly close to the originals most of the time, unlike the FFVIII PC where the arrangements were pretty crazy. Not completely though, songs like Fighting and JENOVA have really interesting arrangements.

Gets the thumbs up from me.

Wahey, a new trailer! This one's a cam too.

Don't be fooled by it's intro, it starts with FF7's ending scene, before going into the film. I've only previewed it (still downloading) so no review here.
