So thrilled to see all the responses already!

I also had the assumption that the writing process had left this little error sitting in the President's back, but I have to also accept that I don't know every last detail of this game so I had hopes that maybe there was something I missed, hehehe.

The coming Remake has me extra curious how they will address this or if it will be addressed at all. I don't want to just disregard it as "an illusion" simply because you don't see this type of illusion anywhere else in the game. I actually like the idea of Shinra having retrieved the sword as this would make the most sense. Hojo would undoubtedly be eager to reclaim it if he were at all aware of its location.

As for Tifa talking about Air Buster, I never saw this as a problem. President Shinra refers to Airbuster as a "Techno-Soldier", and while I am not sure how the translation works with "SOLDIER" and "Soldier" I still find it plausible for her to be confused.

Tifa says "This is from SOLDIER?" and Cloud responds that it is just a machine. I could easily see this as Tifa simply being confused about what all comes out of the Shinra project/division referred to as "SOLDIER". Similar to someone seeing a drone and saying "This is from the Army?"

How was Sephiroth's sword used to kill President Shinra?

I have always been bothered by this after realizing that Cloud and crew were following Jenova around and not Sephiroth. If Jenova was taking
Sephiroth's form (and therefore Jenova that killed president Shinra), why would the real Sephiroth's sword be sticking out of President Shinra's back?

This may be a question without an actual answer, but would love any ideas from the greatest minds of FF7 lore.  ;D

In the northern crater in the room just before gathering together to fight the final battles, (a circular room with a glow in the middle) there is a counter materia, and it is magic counter, it just says counter

When I faught jenova synthisis, I used 1 omnislash to kill her, so
I only had to use 1 party to fight sephiroth.

What I want to know is, how fast people have beaten Emerald
weapon.  The fastest I did it was a little over 6 minutes. And to
do this, I...

Got clouds hp to 7777 (he was the only one i could seem to do
it with)
Got all of my guys limits full (i used cloud, cid, and vincent)
And I mastered enough counter attacks to have 6 on each
character. (the only other materia i had on them was double-cut,
and revive with a final attack, both mastered)

After 3 minutes of constant 7777 attacks cloud stopped and Emerald
attacked for the first time, after which all characters countered ALOT.
Then I used omnislash, highwind, and chaos, and then a few 4x cut,
and a few more counter attacks.  I dont think its possible to do it
much faster.

When I made a speed run through the game, it was after
playing it about 20 times completely through.  Also
playing parts of the game who knows how many times.

And even then, the fastest I've EVER beaten it was 21:38. That
was without stopping to do anything and running from
battles I felt werent useful. So I really have trouble
seeing 12 hours. Took me that long to get to the Guaes cliff I believe.

I would like to see some saved games throughout the way
of this game to add up how long it took for certain events.
(Also, I've never gotten out of midger in less than 2 and a half)
And I concider myself pretty quick at getting that part done.

General Discussion / How many battles???
« on: 2004-12-05 08:28:09 »
I'm not sure where you are in midgar, but a really good place to
level up limit breaks is in sector 6.  It's the broken road that
goes to the Wal Market. The primary battle of that area is against
4 guys with tails who attack quite quickly.

Just let them hit the crap outa you until you get a limit and then
use it on one, then let em do it some more. Once youve used
it twice or 3 times, kill the last of em and get into a new battle.

Equipping the cover materia you get from behind Aerith's house
also makes things go much faster.  Just a helpful hint, but
not too helpful if you are already to the shinra building, hehe.

I don't know if this is concidered reviving dead topics
or what not, but I believe you can fix this problem
by mearly changing your graphics to 640x480 in
software renderer.  If you havent fixed this already, hehe.

Troubleshooting / Getting a Gold Chocobo Before you should
« on: 2004-12-05 05:20:15 »
In another article someone was asking, "why, when
I give myself a gold chocobo with Jenova, can I not
ride it". Cause he was on the first disc and they wouldnt
ask him about the stables till later and all.

But my question is, is there anyway of getting around this?
Could we figure out a way to add a gold chocobo directly
to the world map. I just think it would be cool to go places
you arent supposed to be yet, and see just what all takes place.

I wonder because, if you leave a chocobo on the world map
when you save it, it saves the location of the chocobo. I havent
done as much looking as I should, but I can't find where this part
of the data is saved.  But it has got to be somewhere, and it has
got to be changeable, at least, I hope so, hehe

Troubleshooting / A way to speed down the minigames?
« on: 2004-12-05 04:37:00 »
There is a program called Speeder Xp, that I use
to slow down my processor. I've only used it when
playing abandonware games from the 80's that
run WAY to fast.  But it may be of some help.
