I have this old saves from ff8 which what you already know, all 60 slots used. 30 for each save folder. Any efficient way to batch convert it? Hyne can do it 1 by one by, it will take me like... I don't know... forever.

General Discussion / I think we need a mod manager.
« on: 2013-07-06 00:16:46 »
Skyrim had a mod manager and its easier to install and uninstall/delete mods and also updates rather that copy this to this folder and then this to another folder. Of course, modding requires you to browse folders and files in different locations. Well there are only few mods in FF7 and FF8 not like skyrim with like what, a whole bunch of it. Installing mods are fairly easy. Bootleg has its own installer package and I think its the only one closest to a mod manager but its more like an installer. Is it possible to have a mod manager?

Anywho... before I do anything with it I want to check  if this video is okay to be released to yet again replace the Aeris:Aerith death scene

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EJw4iLP9No&feature=related

that's awesome! it could replace the old video with this one regardless of the model ingame since its a video, there's no harm done.

Troubleshooting / Re: FF8PC not playing eyes on me.

In deamon tools pro advance edition, there is a button that says 'add virtual IDE drive'. I'm using windows 8 at the moment. I only found it just a couple of days ago. I didn't realized about it when I've installed deamon tools on windows 8. Although when I add a virtual IDE, it will ask to restart after installation. When my pc restarted there is no IDE drive. Maybe because I'm using win8. Although deamon tools was installed properly on win8 with no problem. When I was on win7, I either use virtual DT (daemon tools) drive or the virtual SCSI drive.

Maybe the virtual IDE drive will play eyes on me. Since I've stated before that old CDROM drive have some kind of audio cable that is plugged from the CD drive to the mobo. Did someone already test it?

With STORY MODE, people can re-live the FF7 story, starting with the Bombing Mission.  But this time around, it's different.  One person plays Cloud while another person plays Barrett!  Once they finish the bombing mission, they have unlocked the next part of the story, and they have also UNLOCKED TIFA ON THEIR ACCOUNTS and can start to play her.

The game would be mission base by chapter since everything needs to be locked. Since Cloud and Barret is the first character in the bombing mission. The person playing Cloud would be a fresh account/newly created game while the person playing Barret with a new game would have to search servers in order to connect to the one playing the game. A seamless connection like the Journey(ps3) would be nice. Its more like a co-op. Since its per mission chapter, everything would be capped. So as an example, the Bombing mission would be capped at let say level 10 and also its stats. So characters that are already progressed through the game with let say 70 would be level 10 and also materias that are gotten are locked since you have to obey the rules of the game through story mode. Also for weapons, accessories, item, etc. You still gain experience and AP but will not level up until you connect to your own game. And your inventory is still the same. Items, materias, exp, etc.. that you got form other missions will be added. For the random battle I think it should be like Persona 3. You'll see a smoke. You can enter battle by touching it and leave by escaping. Since its active time battle, there is no difference in battle turns.

The BATTLE ARENA MODE is for PvP.  You can pit your ferocious Red XIII against my Yuffie.  Or maybe we can stage some virtual battles against Sephiroth!

This battle should be capped and it depends on your progress of your character in story mode. So stats are down to the base level and strengths are based on your equipment. Since its active time battle you have to choose your command fast. Cursor to memory should do the trick. some commands are stripped down or tweaked like KOTR, quadra magic, mimic etc, in order to fit the pvp system. Damage indicator, level, hp, mp, etc are not shown. Its either hit, miss, or resist. Its a lot of task for developers to revamp all skills for pvp.

The PLAY MODE is for everything else.  Socialize and ROLE PLAY.  Buy materia/gear for your characters.  Play minigames.  Go out into the world to gain experience.  Have fun while you are "queued up" for a Story Mode instance.  (See, that's where the game pairs you up with other people online to help you advance in the Story.)

This is like a town or city where you search for servers or players so you could progress to your next mission on story mode. Customized character on play mode like colors or models is a must. Random battle on world map with pvp would be debatable at the moment. My guess is just like the story mode. Each area are capped.

I like the idea but it would take everything to be revamped for online. I think there is more to improve it but the task is too huge for 1 person to solve all problems. I was thinking the same thing myself way way back.

If I burn it to a cd and play it using the cd drive, will it work normally? back then cd drive are Parallel ATA, then there is a like an audio cable that you have to plug in onto your motherboard. But today's cd drive are SATA which does not have any audio cable to connect onto your mobo.

I'm replaying this game and I forgot for so many years to ask it into this forums. Although there was another post like this years ago but my machine runs on windows 7 x64. I'm using an iso so I can mount the disk without using the cd drive. I tried to play disk 3 on windows media player and it plays eyes on me on track 1, but during the game it does not. Any solution?

I'm using Daemon tools pro for mounting. Maybe there is something to do with the image drive, DT adapter is enabled while SCSI and IDE are disabled on my daemon tools. I don't want to touch this setting.

Gameplay / changing FF8.exe
« on: 2011-12-31 14:34:31 »
back then I downloaded something that you cannot die on battle and any damage like 9999 will leave you 1HP. I wanted to have that file again. I think it was like in angelfire or geocities but the site is gone for good (that's like 10 years ago). google can only find ultimacia.exe (I know). I need the 1hp to make a video of different style of renzokuken.

or

finding what hex code should be an alternative...

Between steps 3 and 4, did you run FF7Config and select the custom driver in the 'Renderer' pull-down from the 'Graphics tab'?

I did run ff7 config. I'll check it again.

the Q&A portion is kinda confusing on how to install this mod. Is there an easy way like a step by step procedure? correct me if im wrong...

1. install ff7
2. install patch 1.02
3. install  aali's custrom driver
4. install the  Menu Overhaul Project (M004d)

i've done that procedure and the only problem is everything is still the same except that the entire game screen is small like 640x480 even though I edit the width and height on ff7_opengl.cfg to 1360x768 (my native res). The last time, it worked. although there are other patched and mod that are installed so i have to uninstall and delete the mods and install it again hence this problem.

Hey guys this is my first post on this Forum

so i got the launcher downloaded...i set it to be the same as my native desktop resolution...and now the game will play a nice properly formatted edios start up screen but after that when the squarsoft logo comes on its position weirdly to the top left...the rest of my screen is black...its making me go nuts i tried lowering the resolution to a non w/s  and it does the same thing just in a more narrow field of the screen...Ive been playing with it for a bout 2 hours and have gone through this forum quite a bit...i am getting dizzy with scrolling through other peoples questions so i thought id post ...

PLEAAAAAAASE SOME ONE HELP ME!...this was my favorite game as a kid and i cant afford to get XIII so i wanted to relive some memories

e-mails are welcome

[email protected]

config your ff8. set the render to direcrt3d hardware instead of software render to properly use the ff8 launcher. my computer's resolution is 1360X768 but i set my ff8 launcher to 1024x768 and check the 4:3 ratio. but when i use the 640x480 the screen stretches... i' have to stick to my 1024 resolution.

hello guys, this is my first post!  :-)

to continue...

I've manage to make ff7music to work w/o any problems. so I've been stop playing ff7 for like 4 weeks cause I'm playing something else. when i run ff7music again, the music just don't play and i tried the ff7_lessdebug and it didn't work cause it was a defective download (can you give a link to download, thanks.). it stop working when i delete something in my startup in the msconfig. something like sound... I'm only uncheck all of the startups except the antiviruses, firewall and spyware, so my PC can boot faster. I only deleting for something suspicious.

the mp3 work but i need the ff7_lessdebug. the psf however does not work. i tried it with winamp and it doesn't work. It works the last time i used it.
