Troubleshooting / Re: How To Get Past FF7 ISO Size Limit
« on: 2011-01-19 09:17:26 »
I assume he's talking about the PSOne version. The PC version does not run from the CD.

Anyway, sorta. You just have to find the various filetables. They're normally little-endian lists of LBA+Size. There's some in the YAMADA.BIN - you might find it productive to search through files looking for values that fit the LBA-Size format in the YAMADA. Use CD Mage to find the LBA / size values themselves, but remember that CD Mage will list them in decimal, not hex.

How easy you will find this is another matter. Really, the best person to speak to would be Gemini, but he doesn't spare much time to individual requests.
FIELD.BIN (GZIP compressed) have too.

Maybe if you split in more disc, but with same ID.

Disc 1 with half of CGs + another DISC 1 with half of CG. But, I thing, the STR files aren't possible be better.

Very Great

If anyone cares, I updated the Final Fantasy X compression/decompression app at rhdn to version 0.3. It fixes some problems with "type1" files and adds "type2" support (for both compression and decompression).

Thanks for the good work, will be helpful.

Have a lot of tools but this is interesting for us.

How do you use this tool please ?  :|

Do you think it will be possible with a rebuilder to replace sound files with japanese ones ?

Yes, it's possible but not yet included. Can anyone send me a login to edit the wiki of qhimm in section of FFX, maybe someone curious can read the info and continue the file catalog.

The default of catalog can be with my extractor (source code) or the extractor FFX-2 Universal Extr./Reb of forum alucard?
My extractor not completed, still in v0.1.

I extracted all the files of ff8 PSX version of the scripts files, of 4 CDs (that have some files in one and other don't have) and extract scripts too, I can send you to help you... not tested yet the insertion... I don't want to translate, only curious the system of the PACK file

Using 100% Black and white to transparent and, the white color isn't 100%

15

I have problems with the files of opening.bin. The first file isn't good-sized, and the second is good like the image below, and one file of two is like this.

It's a simple TIM file. Open in a Photoshop with plugin or GIMP with plugin too.
I will make the rebuilder

18
WOOOOO, it's not finished.... My GOD the people of Qhimm don't have limits.

19
It's too simple to program, but I'm too lazy too... Maybe tomorrow I finish the extractor(finhished) and rebuild and sent for this post to others people of qhimm forum

20
In these days I'm studying and don't have a big time to edit these... I will help you in these things and make the programs I already make the extractor but don't make the rebuilder, it's a simple C... Send me a PM with one messenger that I can willl help you.

See the header in beggining of file
[offset initial data][size] [offset initial data][size]
[offset initial data][size] [offset initial data][size]
[offset initial data][size] [offset initial data][size]

Always there, a simple program is possible.

I have seen how to change the menu pictures. But what I want is to translate the names you can see in this picture for example :

Have a lot of tools but this is interesting for us.

Apologies for the double-post (yet again ) but I would like to share some new interesting findings.

I quickly ran through the [MAGIC] files and they all have ASCII names (or some other kind of visual tag) at the end of the files, describing what they are.

Here is a list of all the names exactly as I read them (starting from file 08628):
Code: [Select]
FIRE
FIRA
FIGA
BRIZD
BRIZRA
BRIZGA
THD
GRABIDE
ANKOKU
ULTIMA
?EMPTY?
?EMPTY?
?EMPTY?
REJNE
DREIN
GRABIDE
POISON
QUAKE
STOP
BARRIER
MABARRIER
WALL
?EMPTY?
LEAVES_WUTAI SMOKE_FALL, SMOKE_BOSS_FALL
LEAVES_SPIN, SPIN_SPIN, SPIN_KISEKI
LEAVES_HIT_TEST, HIT_FLASH, SWORD_KISEKI
?EMPTY?
?EMPTY?
HIT
HIT_01
?EMPTY?
LEAVES_GOD_HAND, STEAL_HAND, STEAL_ARM
RECOVERY, SWORD_KISEKI
JUMP_JUMP, LAND_HIT, KISEKI_SHINRA , KISEKI_BASTER, KISEKI_PRASOL
RAKURAI
FIRE_HIT, SWORD_FIRE
BRI_HIT, SWORD_BRI
THD_HIT, SWORD_THD
SHOOT_THROUGH_HIT
SWORD_KISEKI
ZENI_COIN, ZENI_HIT, ZENI_PITCH
LEAVES_STEAL, STEAL_HAND
SP_CHARGE
LEAVES_SAILESS, SAIRENT2, SAIRENT4
HIT01_DEATH
ASPIL, ASPIL_HIT, ASPIL_SIPPO
QUAKE
?EMPTY?
HIT_RECOVERY
HIT01, SEORD_KISEKI
EXPLOSION_HIT, KISEKI_SHINRA
LEAVES_TEKKEN_PUNCH
LEAVES_FLARE, FLARE_FILTER, FLARE_HIT
?EMPTY?
THDGA
LEAVES_GOBURIN_PUNCH
?EMPTY?
?EMPTY?
?EMPTY?
DESP

The "?EMPTY?" ones are just my own tags, because those are 1KB files which do not contain any ASCII text.
The comma seperated ones represent multiple ASCII texts following one another in the same file.

But everything else is exactly from the files, spelling mistakes included.

My observataions:

  • "R"'s are used instead of "L"s, as per Japanese fashion
  • Japanese words like "KISEKI" are mixed in too
  • References to "SHINRA" and "BASTER" and "PRASOL" refer to the 3 swords which Zack has during the game, namely the Shinra standard, Buster Sword and the parasol (used when on vacation at Costa De Sol)
  • The spelling mistakes suggest that these ASCII characters were typed in very quickly without much care, so they probably were nothing more than aides to the developers
  • Most of them seem to be obvious Materia magic, but others (like the "HIT" ones) are standard attacks used by Zack
  • "DESP" is probably DMW attack activation
  • "ASPIL" is probably items being used
  • There are TWO "GRABIDE" files, kindof strange, no?
  • "RAKURAI" and "ANKOKU" seem just as mysterious
  • The one called "LEAVES_WUTAI" is quite interesting too
  • "LEAVES_TEKKEN_PUNCH" :-P

These can probably be called "Zack's Battle Attacks and Actions" to be more precise, encompassing Materia as well but by no means stopping there.
Can anyone spot anything else?
 :-D

This is a Debug DATA, it's normal this unique "lenguage" that some the programmer only "understand"
The wrong translate leave to this
