Releases / Re: More Realistic World Map Animations
« on: 2021-01-02 14:50:18 »
Just went through your last couple of posts and I gotta say I do tend to like the ones you've made better than remako or satsuki's.  The more transparent/subdued texture is easier on the eyes.  My one criticism would probably be the one you did for walking through the marsh, I can't see it at all.   I'm not sure how I feel about the highwind thrusters.  Seems like some orange was added in?  It almost looks like it's misfiring or something.

This is probably one of the most impressive ones I've seen you do.  It truly looks professional.

Every now and then I forget how incredible your upscales look, and then you push a new update to remind everyone the definitive way to play FF7

Hi, looks good that map of the first post,
I' making the betatesting of FFBCR (rpgm2003)
of the Spanish translation and because
I have around 20 years of experience with Rpg maker, I see this project like a madness.
Without auto-start events as example.

I try to make enhancements using rips,
https://ibb.co/jrNsmJq
because the other way atleast for me is re-do every map using Cinema 4D, or 2D Pixelart.
With Easyrpg Player the game can be actually played in many systems.

I have to make little changes of the original game (2k3), atleast because is a translation mainly.

The characters assets of this game are blurry, about portraits, I can use big images making a new message system.

Your project looks like a true remake
One of the things that would be incredibly helpful is for someone to go through and manually rip the backgrounds as I have done.    If you check my google drive link in the first post, I managed to rip the highest quality videos available (from nicovideo) and slowly take screenshots with MPC-HC and patch together the scene.  I would more than welcome the help of someone else doing that.

Those background pics are nice. :)

I'm just waiting for obesebear to push the project forward. I'm always at the ready for creating sprites. I've just been busy polishing the Crisis Core HD project for the past few months, but I'm pretty much done now with most of my work on that now.

I'd also be up for getting on Discord to make this Before Crisis remake project go faster.
At first, I was hesitant on Discord because I thought it wasn't needed, but I've now seen how much faster things go with people in tandem.
A few months back I had some family issues that took a while to resolve.  Then had an HR battle at work over whether my coworker should be fired or if I should quit.  Then began working more often in hopes of getting his job (and also being short staffed), and then today was actually my first day back to work because my family and I finally caught the coronavirus.
Unfortunately, still short staffed at work, but everything else has slowed down.  There's even another person interested in helping with sprites named HikarooChan.  As for the discord, it's here https://discord.gg/C4arJpB
Kuraudo has been on it from time to time finding artwork and other obscure facts to help with lore.  I've also reached out to Tsunamix and his voice over director about making adjustments to the dialogue so the story is better, and ultimately implementing voice acting.

ALL THAT SAID, I should be able to start tinkering a little bit in the coming weeks before thanksgiving.  It really just depends if I have any days off to commit to it.

Welcome back!
PC is still the way to go, but you'll want FFNx instead of Aali's.  It has its own forum.  You'll also want to check out the discord link as it's now where most of the day to day happenings are discussed and is the quickest way to get help.

Obesebear was never cool.  SL is still grumpy.  Covarr may not exist anymore, he's about as rare as Qhimm.  Dan was banned (permanently) a few months back.  Sith still has updates to Black Chocobo, but now has other members he can talk technical jargon with.

Reunion has been moved to DLPB's site  FF7.live I think.   FinalFanTim still has a soundtrack link somewhere, but there are a few other good options floating around now, too.  You might also check out Echo-S as it's doing a surprisingly good voice over.  I'm also out of touch with the day to day of things, but if you get on discord, you should be able to figure things out pretty quickly.

It could be interesting to look into patching the game so that it only calls the high poly models

Everything is looking good!  I just wanted to comment that the picture you substituted of Angeal looking at Genesis is actually found during the later part of the Junon fight scene.  It should be right after his should is clipped by the sword and the scene transitions to the training room.

thank you so much for working with this, I've always wanted to play this game. It was a stupid decision to release it only for a specific cellphone only in Japan
I completely agree.

I have to handle some work/personal stuff this Monday, but come Wednesday I should be able to dedicate some time to this again.

How in the hell did you manage to post a general question about FF8 in a forum for FF7 audio programs?  You're not even close.

Please pay attention next time.  Thread moved.

The walkway likely doesn't need to be widened.  What's more likely is the new model is actually standing below the floor and needs its root height adjusted

Work should start back up Tuesday :)

37
Yes i agree getting the wiki fixed and updated would be helpful.
This is something sl1982 is working on, but it requires Qhimm finding the time to set everything up.

General Discussion / Re: What happend to "Reunion" mod?
« on: 2020-08-20 01:11:14 »
Long story short, the mod author didn't see eye to eye with the qhimm staff.
All things Reunion related can be found here http://ff7.live/

I just checked and the Junon elevator is mostly gone.
The other elevator file is intact but the file is too big to upload on blendswap. I will search for other ways to upload them.
As for plans:
I have not been involved in the community for a very long time and have not ever spoken to the current modders. I just want to finish/ upload what was once started for now just to not let it go to waste since the original repo is now offline.
As for future plans, I dont want to make any promises as it would depend mostly on my free time and motivation.

Are you talking about the Team Avalanche Google drive? It was still there a few weeks ago

This is really incredible.  I don't know what else you have in the works, but this looks like the version SE should have released.  The quality is truly top notch.

The wife is going back to work and the kids will be going to school / daycare starting in September.

Since I don't have much choice but to be at home with no distractions, I'll be able to pick back up working on this.  I'm probably a bit rusty, but I've got a whole chapter I can reference to refresh my memory.  Tsunamods has also announced a new casting for their voice-over project, and it's my hope that they'll tackle Before Crisis and maybe even rework the script.

Stay tuned!

Looks good, better than most fan projects.

44
You should credit the original authors by name or by link to their site, just some way so it's clear they created it. You can do that either in your initial post or in a readme.

As for redistribution, my feelings are if you release something publicly, that's it, it's out in the open.  If someone chooses to bundle it differently or alter it, they can as long as they credit the author and aren't trying to profit off of it.
I'll bring this thread to the staff's attention in case someone disagrees

45
Could be something to do with using the steam version.  A more complete version of this mod is included with Reunion that can be found at ff7.live

46
Is it still the same sweet spot? I'm having the hardest time trying to get it. I can't find it for the life of me.
When the "minigame" starts, you just immediately jump.  Then when you land you jump again.

Oh the missions.  So many missions.

48
I remember using it when I was trying to make my own translation so the story made more sense.  Don't think I ever knew it could adjust dialog boxes, too.

49
Link should be working now

That's a great feature.  Text mods should be a lot easier now
