Custom Graphics Driver
« on: 2009-08-16 09:14:54 »
Can someone write a guide to using the custom graphics driver on vista, because everytime I try to use it the resolution stays at 640x480, even if I change the window size option in the cfg file, do you have to run anything as an admin? Do you change anything else in the cfg?

Any posts appreciated

Your problem could be releated to the paths found on the registry. I had to use absolute paths so thta the driver could find it's config file.

FF7.exe needs to be run as Admin (if you're using FF7 music that also needs to be admin as well as in XP sp2 mode and FF7.exe in Win98 mode) You must run the reg file (if you are using Vista 64 run the vista64.reg, if you aren't, then run the other one)

7 is just Vista SP2, get used to it.

Except much more speed-optimized, faster startup, better taskbar, all of which are things that they've never really put into service packs.

But yeah, your point remains. It still has the same stupid UAC.

I don't know why all the hate on 7.  I set the UAC to 'Never Notify' as soon as I installed the OS and haven't had ANY trouble.  No 'run as administrator' and no 'compatibility mode'.  It's like having a version of XP that just works better.

Maybe everyone should just use build 7201 x64 if the others are like Vista

Everything is solved :)

I am still having problems with this.
It always shows me the fullscreen Game with a resolution of 640x480 pixels.
I tried the absolute path, and the admin mode (I'm running 7 x64 RTM).
It is as if the cfg file doesn't exist. (Specified WindowSIze to 1280x960, and window Mode, no fullscreen)

It isn't the above anymore. It now runs fine as it should. Only... after the Menu screen I hear the shhh of the train, and the sounds of Shinra Soldiers being hit, but the screen is entirely black.

Besides that...

Greetings

With XP it should work fine if your account is the primary one
