Pitbrat: Model information, model sorting and fixing, documentation
DLPB: Installer, maintainer
Grimmy: Additional model sorting and fixing.

The following list is based on full models only and ordered by number of releases.
Model faces or hair, for example, are not included but authors have been credited
at the end. Pitbrat has done immense work with fixing and sorting a lot of these
models. Grimmy has also fixed and shaded numerous models.

Credit also for  model add-ons by Slayersnext, Asmodean and Stickysock.

Special thanks to Ficedula & Aali for lgp decoder/encoder
and Luksy for modified version.

Special thanks to Kranmer for testing.

We have a mish mash of models, authors and installers- some way out of date, and it is a nightmare.

One thing I could do to correct this was to create a proper installer and have total order, rather than total chaos.  And so, the Unified Model Installer was born.

I, Pitbrat and Grimmy worked together to bring to you the Unified Model Installer, to ensure all current legal models are put together in 1 neat package.  No more conflicts, no more worrying that the wrong models are being added, no more broken models,no more confusion or broken out-of-date installers.  No more messing about.  Life is simple.

Part of this project was also to document exactly which models have been done and which need doing.  The respective modellers are of course credited.  This project is for the purpose of bringing these models to you properly.  We are not the authors of these models.

If the authors refuse permission to add these models to our new installer, we will respect that decision but we hope they will work with us.

Dan

Nice. Is a pain in the arse having to instal one by one (and also looking for them).

And it would be nice if we could have all main characters models combats and not only two or three, but i know it's difficult to make, so good luck on this new project!

They wont make any new models
They will only make an installer that includes currently existing legal models

Pitbrat is busy documenting and getting models into correct places... and I have started preparing the installer.  I have devised a simple method and it works...  the hard part will be making sure there are no conflicts and accounting for all the models :)

But I don't think my part in this is all that difficult compared to the bore fest pitbrat has....

First release will be U001: all current models.

Models will continue to be added as and when available.

I would request that you leave any Team Avalanche models out of your compilation. At least until i discuss things with the team.

So the basic idea is get all the models that are on qhimmm forum ( Individual models / PRP / etc etc  etc ) and put in one "Huge" pack with installer and custon option to install/inject into a battle / field lgp?
Title: Re: [WIP]FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2011-11-08 16:22:55
yes.
Title: Re: [WIP]FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: PitBrat on 2011-11-08 16:42:19
I'm still making progress on separating the models.
I'm easily confused, so I work slowly.
The PRP models are a big blob of a mess with intermingled model files.
Every time I think things are flowing smoothly, I find a problem model and get sidetracked.
Everything else is ready for final testing.
Then I will need to conform my folder structure to DLPB's installer and consolidate the documentation.
But that's the easy part . . .

Thank you all for the continued interest!

hi guys. this is my first post just discovered the website and signed up and already playing FF7 as of yesterday. I really wanted to give my  2 quarters worth in saying THANK YOU!!! DOMO ARRIGATO GOZAIMASU!!!! all the authors and people making these mods and installers as well. i'm very overwhelmed but appreciate the installers and tutorials.

and i can not wait till u finish this project. i wish i knew an inkling of anything related to computer programming and drawing and stuff... i'd definitely help. all i have to give at this moment is some newcomer encouragement and my angel of hope

i have purchased 3(technically 4- the 4th was giving a friend like $10 for his copy... not bought from a store) individual copies of FF7 in the past [stupid scratches and my lil borther kept losing them] and now don't have any of the copies nor a psx. Seeing as Square's got plenty money worth from me; i downloaded the torrent, sorry if this offends anybody, but i do appreciate your attention to copyright and legal models.

What a great work it should be! Only a thing: it will modify ff7.exe? I ask this because I'm worried the spanish derivated traslation (spanish and more important to me, italian) couldn't use this... you'll be caring this extra versions? Thank you :D

Hopefully a release soon.  8)

The installer is almost done, just waiting for a modified lgptools from Luksy and a full detailed break down from Pitbrat.

The installer will allow full customisation but will also come with some presets as follows:

Name: "All"; Description: "Install everything"
Name: "battle"; Description: "Battle"
Name: "magic"; Description: "Magic"
Name: "minigame"; Description: "Minigame"
Name: "field"; Description: "Field"
Name: "world"; Description: "World Map"
Name: "NPC"; Description: "NPC"
Name: "NC"; Description: "Non character"
Name: "chibi"; Description: "Chibi"
Name: "battleinfw"; Description: "Battle models into field and world map"
Name: "dan"; Description: "DLPB's favourite"
Name: "pitbrat"; Description: "Pitbrat's favourite"
Name: "custom"; Description: "Custom installation"; Flags: iscustom

Can anyone think of any more presets I could use?
Title: Re: [WIP]FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: Lionsmane on 2012-01-24 18:28:40
Uh, the only thing I could think of would be like the "wacky" preset available in bootleg.

Or maybe a preset that would just change the save points or those new potion vials/materia field items? <- or would that qualify as non character?

Im thinking small previews in the installer to see how each model looks like im assuming this will be a lot of hard work, damn can't wait for this this is what we needed from the start! The models you didn't have permission to put on your installer can you say which ones so i can dload them too anyways awesome work as always DPLB and Pitbrat :)
Title: Re: [WIP]FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2012-01-25 14:23:02
Previews aren't gonna happen really sadly, but maybe someone can place some screenshots up here or make a nice guide somewhere?

Any case, the final installer will be less than 80MB, the actual content uncompressed is 363MB so far.
Title: Re: [WIP]FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: Nightmarish on 2012-01-26 20:07:26
I'm a bit confused, so this "mod" is like a global game patch that revamps everything to the *best* to date files?
Like the best backgrounds made, the best models made, the best weapon models made, etc?

Or does it only replace player/enemy/weapons models? o.o

I don't usually release betas...  but this time I will.  For testing purposes.  Any and all faults please tell me.

It is important that for a FIRST RUN, you have the original files present.  These files are magic.lgp, char.lgp, world_**.lgp, high-**.lgp, battle.lgp and condor.lgp.  The installer supports (or should) all games.

After a first run, the installer will continually use the backup folder to maintain a clean install each time.

This is pretty close to finished so any and all corrections or recommendations are fine before I finalise.  I know the install interface itself is a bit clunky but that is because inno does not support tree view... maybe one day eh ;)

Don't bother with the readme that gets dumped on desktop...  it is not correct at all and I am not placing readme there next time anyway.  This will all be sorted for U001, including documentation on which models require others.  Ice magic update likely won't work properly with this release.

Disable antivirus to be on safe side before using the installer.

U000a is here (https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1JH_wU1qqN4YmU5NWE4MTUtZDNiMS00ZmM2LWI5MmYtODliOTZkYjEwMjVh&export=download&hl=en_US)

I would be grateful if someone could verify the non english game file names for me.  I assume that only high and world are different?

Title: Re: [Beta]FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: Lionsmane on 2012-01-29 02:55:23
When you say original do you mean unmodified ones from an untouched install of ff7? or the lgps in those original file names?
Title: Re: [Beta]FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2012-01-29 02:56:57
I mean you need those files i listed from original disc (or at any rate untouched by model installers).  They have to be in correct places  magic.lgp in battle, battle.lgp in battle, condor and high in minigames, world in wm and char in field.

If you use files that have already been altered by model installers, chances are we are gonna have bug reports and issues that have nothing to do with this installer which, if I am right, will always install properly after a first clean install.

This installer will backup and use files from Backup-UMI folder which it will create.  You could always place the 6 clean files in this folder (in root) and it will achieve the same result.

Post by: Lionsmane on 2012-01-29 03:04:05
ahhh gotcha. So no use in trying this right now if Ive already ran bootleg or imported models manually?

(that backup feature was a great idea btw)
Title: Re: [Beta]FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2012-01-29 03:09:16
thats right... if you have used some kind of model installer it will just end up messing somethin.

on a second note, if you read this pitbrat, what happened to the "enhanced quality" sephiroth and cloud model for battle, field?  These were taken from the end battle with sephiroth.

great job on this but a problem with resoution, my res is 1024x768 and installer is slashed of at bottom of screen so i not install after choice can you make install smaller or fit to screen ?

what happened to the "enhanced quality" sephiroth and cloud model for battle, field?  These were taken from the end battle with sephiroth.

It's the Cloud battle model is there just under the Bloodshot's models.

I'll be testing throughout the day to find errors. I'll just edit this post. So far the Field and WM look pretty good. Yuffies weapons are all white in battle, so the **aa tex id needs to be set properly. I've tried all three of the mike's phoenixes and none of them appear changed in game. There are a few tex id issues for other battle models. Basically the **aa files have been set to a tex id of 10 and they should be set lower, but those tex id issues will not cause any visual game play problems.

That seems to be all. Everything else seems to install with no problems. Great job. Makes a difficult process totally painless.

yeah sorry, I did take this into account and made it max 700 but looks like ive miscalculated.  Edit... yeah made 800 by accident.

and thanks grimmy :)!  Will need to work with pitbrat and get the corrected files to me. I will talk on msn properly :)

I answered that before, when it is a first time install either use original files or place original lgp files (char, battle, magic world_, condor, high_ ) in folder called "UMI-Backup" in root.

May as well test the finished thing.

First release U001 is HERE (https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1JH_wU1qqN4MzI2ZmQ2NGMtNDEyNC00ZDgzLThhNmMtNjA5MmNiNjViZmZl&export=download)

I SUGGEST WAITING FOR U002, U001 is buggy and needs further testing.  Please describe any bugs you encounter and which options cause them.

Be sure to read the Readme  inside the installer on the license page.   Any bugs please let me know, there are bound to be a few with a project like this.

Also make sure you have 600MB of free disk space (this is being looked at by a new version of lgp decoder/encoder by Luksy which will use memory.

Pitbrat and Grimmy, if you would, install everything from the installer and note any issues.  So far I have noted 2.

Costa del sol football looks like it is missing a texture, and one of the alternate cloud models is messed up, missing eyes etc.

Also is the memory and crisis core save point supposed to look like that??
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer

Can I use modified LGPs, using original LGPs from installation CD in Backup-UMI?

And why there is a "DLPB's selection" and some item are defaulted to off? Can I install everything? I noticed there are Aaiki14 Sailor models, I've read those are for "fun", as they insert characters from Sailor Moon anime as Tifa and Aerith. What's the most complete installation letting out the "fun" models?

Thank you!
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2012-02-20 12:29:25
I don't follow the first question.  If you are installing for the first time, then you must use lgps that have not been altered before and then the backup folder is used automatically after that.  READ THE README ON THE LICENSE PAGE.

As for second, the DLPB selection is what I use,  I do not install all of them, and indeed some are different mods for the same model.

You can install everything, look down the drop box or just tick them all.
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: Alby87 on 2012-02-20 12:56:25
The first question was: If I have a modified installed version (I'm using the FFVII ITA Reloaded Patch over a clean english install), can I copy the *.lgp files from my original installation CD on Backup-UMI folder before the first installation? Or it's mandatory to have the original *.lgp files in their right place?

And yes, I've read the readme, and I've asked just an extra thing.
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2012-02-20 13:00:40
the files in the original place OR backup-UMI must be untouched in terms of previous model mods.  You can place them in either place but they MUST be clean in terms of model mods.

We invented both words, but in Britain, Soccer is always known as football and not "soccer ball"  in modern usage.  Nobody here calls Football soccer or the ball soccer, which is why I didn't :P

In the same way nobody here will use the word gay to mean happy anymore...  times have changed.

Exactly.   Which is why I don't understand American "Football" which came from Rugby which we call "A rugby ball"
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: sl1982 on 2012-02-27 18:02:49
Well it stems from the fact that any game played on foot was called football at one point. American football applies to this as well, but this is getting a bit far afield...
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: Prince Lex on 2012-03-01 05:19:27
It's called a football because in football (the real original non-bastardised first football, not the random US version that's basically Rugby with a few changes) you hit the ball with your foot.

This has always annoyed me.

@Sirjhonson: I hope you have more luck with this link: U001.exe (http://www.mediafire.com/?tmiym7r7793mes5)  (MediaFire)

I suggest people wait until U002 before using this since there are some bugs to iron and I am changing installer slightly so the Menu Overhaul is fully compatible with the installer.

Yo Grimmy.  Pitbrat.

I am waiting.

The Costa del Sol  football model is correct.  I think it looks unfinished.
I also noticed that Mike's Masamune sword doesn't always install for the final hi res Sephiroth model.

My investigation continues . . .

It definitely looks unfinished... looks like it has no texture?
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: Vgr on 2012-03-16 11:05:06
If it had no texture it would be plain white. Probably that it is related to UV mapping or bad texture applying.

Post by: crackkillsdreams on 2012-03-20 15:59:59
im finding in the beginning scene, that barret is completely without texture, and only clouds pants show, everything else on them is plain white models, any idea which option causes this? I have had it correct at one time but the avatars weren't showing due to another mod install, now i cant get the configuration right...

EDIT: I've gotten the cloud model to work selecting the multi choice option models, and barret displays fine in battles now, but barret still only shows his gun in the field, rest of the model all white, trying various barret options still same result

I have no idea what option does this, that is why I stated to wait for U002...

I was able to fix it with a full wipe, redownload of the installer, and DLPB basic options only.
i anxiously await the update but you guys have done such a fantastic job I heard to try out the first release. fantastic.
If I have any issues with the new release I'll give some actual details and not just another "i used some option and sh*t got messed up in some way". Thanks for the reply

Apparently I reintroduced some flashing faces with the Squallff8 Final Rebuilded and Grimmy PRP model packs.
Correcting the models is easy, but identifying which models are glitched is very time consuming.
If anyone notices a glitched model, please post the model or even just the scene where the model appears.

Also what is the deal with the save point CC... it has a sword in middle but loads of what look like bad textures flying around it?
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: PitBrat on 2012-04-27 13:28:10
Trish AKA Mike created that CC Save model.  It's called "Memories."
I don't care for it either, but I included it for completeness.
I did leave out the PRP save point.  I think it's the worst one of all.

I noticed that the original battle models have the eye alpha problem.
I suppose that's why so many of the new models have the pink eyes.

What is the problem with the Temple of Ancients?  Which models were installed?

Hi, newbie here.
Just wanted to clarify... this obsoletes PRP and any/all addons it had?

Because I was reading up on how to replace all lego-like models in-game (since it seems they are all supposedly finished), and the order I had found out was:
(using bootleg to install everything) PRP base, PRP_addonpack, squallff8's
then random bug fixes like the damaged files, manual edits for the missing hands and stuff, etc etc..

I'm not really sure if that is right, but can I now skip all of that and just stick with U002a (for now)?
Also, are there any other manual fixes I have to apply? (e.g. like the problem mentioned by ProtoX for the flashbacks iirc?)
Thanks.

How can I enable the models this installs?

I've tried installing several times, but subsequent runs of FF7 look exactly the same as the original.

I also installed the Menu Overhaul, which did nothing but break fonts throughout the game.

The tutorial here doesn't seem to specify any activation step or alternate loading methods...

Am I missing a step?

I noticed an extra ff7.exe in dlnb_mods, but it will not run.

I figured out what was wrong.

I was installing the proper way, but as I mentioned in the Menu Overhaul thread, the installer falls apart (silently) in WINE.

After running the installer from a terminal, I was able to determine that it opens thousands of file descriptors and thousands of cmd.exe.

This may be a problem with WINE, perhaps some kind of scheduling bug, or it may be that windows lax security allows this behavior.

Weird.. even the Summon Materia on that map is transparent... I wonder if this is a script issue?

Well the initial scene is correct:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_RaAZQI64Q&t=00m54s

They are looking into the water so that is normal to have transparency there as I always thought.  But the main issue is parts of the models missing during this scene...  especially when using high res sephiroth.

if you disable http://wiki.qhimm.com/FF7/Field/Script/Opcodes/28_KAWAI/01_TRNSP

That with Makou reactor... you can at least play the game unbroken even if it won't be transparent where it is needed.  To do that you will need to delete all entries in Kuro_8 and 82 with Field Model graphic filter - Activate blending

Well it isn't the port after all.  Original models work fine.  This is something to do with transparency effect with new models.  I have an idea... get back to you if I get somewhere.
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2012-07-05 22:40:42
Ok well my final word on this... I can't do anything about it.  I don't think Pitbrat can either.  The problem likely lies in the grouping of the model parts or oversights when PRP created the models.  They would have to fix it... or someone who is more competent with models.  Maybe Grimmy can do it?
-----------

I and pitbrat cannot sort it out.   During the temple scene, the script adds a transparent effect to the models.  If the models are different (in some way to the originals), the draw method corrupts the models. The hair goes in front of the face. (With Squallff8 versions, the model loses parts in game) Pitbrat reckons the issue lies in how the parts have  been grouped.  If anyone can sort this much obliged.  A save right before this issue is here:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36889302/FF7/save07.ff7

The files in question are here:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36889302/FF7/BBAB_Sephiroth_Sword.zip

Aali had this to say:

Quote
[14:29] <Aali> could be the order of the items
[14:29] <Aali> could be that some flags are wrong and z-sorting is not applied
[14:30] <Aali> could be that z-sorting is applied but does it wrong due to the simple nature of the algorithm
==========

Note, people having the "disappearing parts" issue with Aerith etc, are likely selcting squallff8's versions of the main characters in the installer.

Post by: obesebear on 2012-07-06 03:13:16
Already responded on the other forum, but I'll try to look into it sometime this weekend when I have a few hours free to tinker around with it.  If it's a problem with the model and not the game, it shouldn't be too troublesome.
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2012-07-06 03:22:14
Thanks!  And pretty sure it is the model... the game is picky about the model when using transparency mode.

I dunno how Squallff8 has done his, but his fare even worse... parts disappear.  With prp, only sephiroth has an issue.
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: obesebear on 2012-07-11 01:24:08
Well, I started looking at that sephiroth model.  But I have no idea what I'm looking for.  Are the models too transparent or something?
I know there used to be a problem with sephiroth's hair looking weird or something, but that was because the modelers opted to use 2 pieces for it instead of 1 like the original.  That can be easily remedied by either making it 1 piece again, or opening the P editor and deleting the faces that make a wall between the two pieces.

I saw a post a while back about his head being missing, my guess there is  the new model is using the alpha blend option.

The head missing one is Squallff8's sephiroth.  Squallff8 models all have glitches with missing body parts when transparency is on.  Perhaps as you say alpha blend is on, though Pitbrat would  need to confirm that.

With PRP (the model I sent), only the hair is wrong and looks like you know how to fix that already  8-)  Can you send me back a fixed model from the files I sent?

lol so check it, the reason his hair is always so predominant when he is translucent is because of how dark it is.   When I edited the color to be R 196 G 196 and B 196 this is what I came up with...

His hair disappears when shading is applied.   Therefore, it is my assumption that the lighter the color, the more see through, the darker the less see through.   I'll do one final experiment to verify.

EDIT: Nevermind.  Apparently coloring the files at all in kimera causes them to disappear when transparency is added (though I stick to my dark color hypothesis, just look at aerith's bangs through her ribbon).   I may try editing him tomorrow using an older version of Kimera...

Updating from U02b to U03 I encountered a small problem.

Selecting both PRP and Squallff8 options under FIELD, Red XIII's model and the man on the seaplane in Costa del Sol don't update. Both were fine while I was using U02b, but are no longer after installing U03. I'm not sure if this was a small oversight when adding Kela51's Red XIII model to the installer, or not.

Regardless, Kela51's Red XIII model works when selected as expected. Just that Red XIII and the Costa del Sol man retain their original models when selecting PRP and/or Squallff8.

EDIT: Couldn't remedy the problem even with a clean install of FFVII. Also, the Chocobo carriage w/ Tifa on it (leaving for Wall Market) doesn't update either.

I looked into the issues.  When i select PRP squallff8 and kela redxiii, it works fine.

try again and this time place a clean char.lgp into backup-dlpb folder before running installer.  If that does not work, I need to know exactly what changes you make compared to DLPB selection.

I am having problems with the field models in the game. Cant seem to get any of them working. I am new to all of this so I may just be doing something wrong. It doesnt really seem like anything I am doing is working properly.

I personally dont mind the old graphics of the game (as I played it back when it came out) however my girl friend is new to gaming and really wants to play but cant get past the bad graphics. Any help would be really appreciated!

Hey there!

I'm new too, but I managed to get the field models working, at least as far as I can tell (I just started the game again so I haven't seen all the models yet)

Here's what I did.

I downloaded UMI and put it my C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Enix\FINAL FANTASY VII folder. Then when I installed it, it gave me an error that my game isn't installed correctly (I think it has to do with the fact that I have the "re-release"  of the game.)

When I had to select a destination folder I selected the C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Enix\FINAL FANTASY VII folder again.

DLPB's selection is the "standard" selection and when I used this (just clicked next) it installed the field models for me.

Right now I'm trying to install the battle models. Can't seem to find the yuffie, cait sith and cid ones, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Hope this helps.

I know why it isnt updating files...  the battle.lgp location is now different with new PC.  I cannot be bothered updating it either.  I suggest you just use Kramner's New to Old converter when it comes out :)  Alternatively,

place battle.lgp inside \data\battle
place magic.lgp inside \data\battle
char.lgp inside data\field
minigame folder inside data

Then run the installer, choose folder that ff7_en.exe is in and install.  Then place the above files back to their original location.

Hate to be a pest, but I have a request / suggestion should a future release happen at some point.

It'd be rather nice if the installer could store a user's choices once they click the install button, and upon a re-install, load that up as a "last settings" option at the top.

Reason being, it's anywhere between hard to impossible to find images of most of these models, so knowing just what you're going to get isn't easy, and it's also a bit hard to remember from one install to the next exactly which you picked last time through in order to try to get the options you're happy with.

If not, no big deal, and I certainly wouldn't go crank out a new version for this alone in any case.  Just figured I'd ask.  :)

Storing user selections is virtually impossible with inno (the installer package I use) and hard with any other for that matter.  Simply isn't going to happen.  It takes you a few seconds to take the extra time to select things.  It takes me hours to make the installer.  Sorry, but no :)

I have asked numerous people to create images for this mod to aid other people.  Strangely no one has taken me up on that offer.

Completely understandable.  The last serious programming I've done (not counting hacking apart game scripts in Python and the like) was in Borland TC++ 3.0, so I come from an entirely different perspective.  A feature like that would take me minutes, but then it wasn't windows based programming either.

I'll be playing around with things a lot, so if I can manage to start grabbing some images I'll work on a compilation little by little.  I'm still trying to hammer my game into a working state, but it's only a matter of time.  I be a stubborn lass.  ;)

Assuming I can get something useful for you, what format, size, etc would you prefer?

Edited to add TC version number, which was kinda required to convey just how ridiculously long it's been.

OK, can do.

May take me some time.  I have no old saves lying around, so I'll inevitably have to do a full play-through and grab shots as I go, trying to create a myriad of useful save points so I can alter my models and get more shots, etc.

Also, I'm making preparations for a trip to Egypt in late September, so depending on how much more bashing on the game to make it go I have to do, that may snag things temporarily.  I will start working on this though as I'm able.  Wish I could just figure out how to look at whole models in any of the tools.  That'd really speed this up a lot, but sadly, from what I can tell most of the models are all chopped up into pieces and right now I have no clue how to assemble them anywhere useful besides in game.   :?

Full playthrough not required.  Someone uploaded a save file somewhere that has a LOT of save areas all through the game.  You can always use BlackChocobo to set location.

I do not know who has that save...  Kranmer will know.  PM him :)

Hi Folks

I came across recently on the "Unified Model FF7 installer" and find it brilliant.
Finally the confusion with the scattered and sometimes erroneous models are cleaned up.
UMI is determined among the most important mods.

Two things I want to even notice.
The installer checks the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Graphics
whether Aalis driver is used.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
The key is with me but not used by game and ff7config.
The real key here is mine.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Graphics

I'm using the German version of FF7.
In the mini games I have the file "Gcondor.lgp" and "GCHOCOBO.lgp"
The installer does not notice the absence of the files condor.lgp and CHOCOBO.lgp.
If I rename the files before (ie the G removed), everything works perfectly.

Greetings Kompass63

It checks both keys.  And should find one of them.  :)

I will correct the issue with the german game and those that have the letter before the name for the next release.

One more question. I played to reactor 1 without Custom Driver.
Are there any models that absolutely require the Custom Driver?

Slayersnext's Cloud weapons mod uses 8 of the 10 texture slots-- two weapons per texture.
Unless you have access to the original UV maps, altering those weapons to work in every possible combination is a difficult task.

No, this installer does not include Grimmy's AC Tifa model.
Grimmy requested that his models not be repackaged.

whitERaven has created a alternate version of the AC Tifa model.

Whiteraven Tifa Battle.rar                      whitERaven      Modified AC Tifa                        Qhimm (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13703.msg192139#msg192139) FILE (http://www.mediafire.com/?mwe9zqddha8zbif)

I'm compiling a package of updated models to submit for the next release of UMI.

Pitbrat is still working on documenting models but this is an announcement regarding Cloud, Tifa and Barrett models (and in future, probably any of the main character models).

If your model is a variation of someone else's, it will not be added.
If your model is a standalone Barrett, Tifa or Cloud model it will probably not be added.

If your model is part of a full set, I will add that full set.  If there is a style to your model that is not found elsewhere and not already added (like chibi), I will add it.

I will review each case because it is getting out of hand.  The future of this installer is originality.  I am managing my life better in the coming months and years and as a consequence frivolous things like this are now going to be treated in a more draconian fashion.

The installer as is, is already pretty good and I doubt people are that bothered by having to add some models manually.

Well its probably ok, people who want them can still download them easily..

I wouldn't say they wouldn't be included, Sure they are just variations. But they are definitely their own style
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: DLPB_ on 2012-10-22 05:30:19
I'll have a look through them.  The issue is this installer is created for ease of use and it's getting a bit out of hand adding more and more and more of the same model (mainly the same 3 character).  If push comes to shove, I am going to have to shove :P
Title: Re: [REL] FF7 Unified Model Installer
Post by: whitERaven on 2012-10-22 06:10:21
Although my works are just variations, I revised them in a way that they  all share same style and theme.. you can even say they are there own set already despite the originals being done by different authors.

Well it's really up to you sir to decide If you'll include my model revisions in your Installer, I won't really mind if I get the shove :) :) :) LoL
I fully understand the need to keep things organized specially on projects as massive as UMI. ;D

but i have a question. using this installer, let's say I used the DLPB preset and installed it. then i would like to install other addons. would the DLPB install be deleted or would the files just be overwritten?

I'm newer, but my FF7 is fully modded, so I'll try to answer. If you are unpacking and repacking .lgp's, then it will only replace the files that you overwrite (ie. Grimmy's Cloud overwrites the UMI Cloud, the rest stay the same). If you mean addons such as the Menu Overhaul, it doesn't affect the Model Installer, and I suggest installing both. The you can still upgrade the battle scenes, movies and magic without altering the upgraded characters. Good luck!

UMI and Bootleg changes all the models in the game and there are different styles and models available for each sometimes if you don't want Bootleg just use the UMI :)

i think i've found a bug, i'm not sure if UMI is the cause though. when i install the models using the default DLPB selection, there are  still character models in game which retain the blocky one. one is Ester, the girl who invited cloud to be a chocobo racer, and another is a guy behind the counter in the inn at Icicle Inn :)

It's not because of the UMI,it's not even a bug. There are some character who doesn't have any enhanced model, that's all.
Least that what i think.

Having the odds down. I don't think my question might make sense but does this happen to work on the 2012 version?

It should work on 2012 anyway, without conversion....

Sorry, we are unable to scan this file for viruses.

The file exceeds the maximum size that we scan. Download anyway

I was having issues with certain browsers and Google Docs (ironically, I think it was Chrome having the issue)

Maybe try downloading using a different browser?
Title: U04 - Info Update
Post by: DLPB_ on 2013-01-15 10:52:32
Update:

I am now updating this project. Clearly there will have to be some sort of rethink due to the tremendous number of models being added.  I think I have come up with a solution.

2 installers.  UMI and UMI- Lite.

UMI-Lite will be my personal selection.  This installer will only include what I consider the best models and will be based on the following criteria:

1.  Does it fit in with the game (chibi and so forth do not fit in with the game's actual feel or story)
2. Is it a good model (Subjective but I am God).
3. Does it add anything unique, something that stands out.
4. Is it a new model, one that has not previously been made.

So for Lite version, a lot of models will be thrown out.  All the AC Barret's for example.
The purpose of UMI Lite is to create a game that is as near to the original as possible... a competent update that fits in with the original backgrounds, and feel, and story.  The reason I started this project was to get rid of the old blocky models.. it was not to change the game fundamentally, such as making it into Advent Children.

UMI normal will include everything...

As ever, this project is dependent on Pitbrat who does by far the most amount of work on this project (model fixing, sorting).  I just create a nice working environment and plan, and the installer.

Support for this mod has ended.  I have decided to concentrate on one main selection as part of The Reunion. I am no longer interested in maintaining so many models.  Thank you Pitbrat for all your help.  If anyone wants updated models they should see Bootleg.

This thread now needs locking.
