Directions:

(If you have Tonberry installed, move to step 3.)

1.    Download "Tonberry v2.04: Enhanced" HERE
1.5  You also might need Microsoft VC++ Redistributable at this point:
      (x86 version HERE) (x64 version HERE)
2.   Install Tonberry and all of it's components

3.   Unzip/Unpack "Lunar Cry v1.5" and merge the 'tonberry' and 'textures' files with the ones in your parent directory:
steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY VIII/textures/
steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY VIII/tonberry/

This is a demo I've been working on for future use with Roses and Wine - I'm going to re-record the main guitar line as the intro is sloppy (it was originally just the reference line, anyway) and fix an edit or two.  Just wanted to throw my progress out there and see if anyone likes it :)

For use with the STEAM version of Final Fantasy VIII
**FINALLY! An UPDATE! 9/07/2018**

This mod replaces the horrible "B1, B2, B3, etc." Button Icons with the proper Playstation and Xbox360 Buttons

***To use this mod, you MUST install Tonberry and SeeD Reborn***
***THIS MOD IS NOW COMPATIBLE WITH SHUNSQ'S FF8 BUTTONS PATCH!***
*Comes with Xbox360, PS3, PS4, DS4, SPC, and Steam controller files for use with Shunsq's controller mod*
-If using a PSX/PS2 default setup controller, Shunsq's mod, Tonberry 2.04, and Seed Reborn are all you need to get going! This mod is only needed if you want a different button setup, or you aren't using Shunsq's mod!

*HID Buttons are for use ONLY with Mapping interfaces (Xpadder, JoytoKey, AutoHotKey, Pinnacle, etc):
*Using the HID interface buttons is destructive to the Green Text in the game - be warned, but the green text is BARELY used, so it shouldn't interfere with gameplay.

Directions:
1. Download and Install Tonberry and SeeD Reborn
2. Download the Controller mod above, unpack it and open the folder you need!
3. Move the 'sy' folder (OR 'ic' folder if using Shunsq's mod) into your 'textures' folder in the FINAL FANTASY VIII app folder. (steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY VIII/textures/)
4. Merge the folders when asked
5. Enjoy!

***Disable the STEAM overlay in 'steam/settings/in-game' to prevent crashes!***
This should work with ALL versions of SeeD Reborn!

The only glitch is the "A" button showing up next to the "R Stick" button (or Triangle next to Start in PSX version) - this is due to the button being identified as "B10", where it pulls 1 and 0 for it's image.  If this can be changed in the future to "button 10" being represented but it being renamed "button 0", the glitch can be fixed -- otherwise, we just have to live with it ;) 
This glitch is not present in the HID version, but it's more destructive to the green text.  give/take.

Instructions:
1. Drag the folders (/textures and /tonberry) into /steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY VIII/ and merge/replace anything it prompts.
*Optional* 2. Delete the old /wm and /ve folders from /FINAL FANTASY VIII/textures/

In order to change your ragnarok texture to the 'vanilla' model, or to pick your own custom color, do the following after install:
1.  Open "ragnarok colors" and choose the one you want.
2.  Backup the 'hp_texpg_45.png' texture from textures/hp/hp_texpg by renaming it anything.
3.  Rename your new Ragnarok to hp_texpg_45 and put it in FINAL FANTASY VIII/textures/hp/hp_texpg

MCINDUS YouTube Channel

I have created a channel mainly as a demonstration of the capabilities of modern FF modding, and what a hive-mind like Qhimm can accomplish over time.  This channel will be updated with mod tutorials, video demonstrations, let's play videos, walk-through's, and more!

I currently only have FF8 Steam videos, but I will be expanding and showcasing FF7 Mods as well over time.  I felt that this forum needed some video tutorials a long time ago, and I think this is how I will facilitate that.

I finished a new video and posted it to YouTube today that showcases ALL of the current Tonberry mods available for Final Fantasy 8 on Steam.  Watch it HERE!

The last video I showcased with Gameplay (Part 1) had some glitches in it and only had half of the actual SeeD Reborn mod in it.  After releasing SeeD Reborn v3.1,  I wanted to show what FF8 could really look like as a whole package.  Also, I figured after I posted the Tonberry Tutorial, I would try my hand at speaking over my videos.

Also, to the community:
What would you consider the absolute BEST visual FF7 mods to be?  I want to do an 'Ultra' version of FF7 for a video series, but I'm not sure what to pick from since it's all so robust.  I will definitely be using cmh's models for this video, considering I want the visuals to be as HQ and consistent as possible - but what else should I use?
On a sidenote, I think I will also be doing a let's play of DLPB's "Reunion" R02 when it comes out, and I know some of you purists want everything as true to the original as possible, so I'm saving the unshaded models, etc for that version... Unless you guys think I should just smash it all together into one series?

Hard Mode and Add-on's Launcher
Difficulty Mod and other Add-on's for FF8 on STEAM
Now All Languages Supported!
Mod Updated with easier process!

These mods use HextLaunch from DLPB's Tools
And they will until he finishes his new version of ddraw.dll for FF8 :)

I compiled some old mods for those of you using the STEAM version of FF8

Add-on's:
Hard.dll: Makes the game generally more difficult:
-   Decreases the player's melee damage by a factor of 1.5
-   Increases the level of enemies by a factor of 1.1
-   Increases the melee damage of enemies by a factor of 1.1
    (this does not effect magic damage)
Damage.dll
-   Max damage increased to 65k instead of 9999; affects your group and opponents too.
HP.dll
-   Max hp cap increased to 32k from 9999
Magic.dll
-   You won't lose magic from your inventory when you cast it in battle.
    (Negates Double and Triple effects. I don't use this one.)
Publish.dll
-   Removes the Square Enix splash logo on Startup

Instructions:

1.   Move "HL_Files" and "FF8_Hard_Launcher" into your parent FF8 directory.
     (steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY VIII)
2.   Launch the game from the new "Hard" Launcher
3.   The command window will let you know if .dll injection was done correctly
     (there is also a HextLaunch.txt log file)

*If you're using RaW, you can move the RaW.dll into /HL_Files/DLL_in as well to resolve possible issues
**If you use any Tonberry mods, do not move any of the Tonberry .dll's into this location - it will render Tonberry useless.

This mod is based off of the original SeeD mod for FF8 2000 by sl1982:

This is the official release! Let me know if you find any bugs!


Directions:
(If you already have the latest version of Tonberry installed, move on to step 2)

1.     Download "Tonberry 2" HERE and install it to your parent FF8 folder (where the .exe is located)
2.     Open the "Final Fantasy VIII" game folder. (normally located "steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY VIII/")
3.     Unpack "Seed_Reborn v4.1" and place "textures" and "tonberry" into ..."steamapps/common/FINAL FANTASY VIII"
4.     Merge the folders and copy/replace any duplicates.
5.     Look in the /textures-alternates/ folder for instructions on how to add alternate colors for text-boxes, add title screens for other mods, etc.!

The first graphic mod for the STEAM version of Final Fantasy VIII (thanks Omzy!)
High Quality Remaster and Card Replacement for the Triple Triad card game.

- Tripod replaces the Triple Triad cards, text, icons and backgrounds with Higher Quality versions
- Tripod also replaces the in-menu cards to reflect the cards you collect through Triple Triad
- Tripod is dependent on having Tonberry v1.6 or later installed *

v1.3 Update only requires UPDATED Master HASHMAP! Delete any old Tripod hashmaps you have!

Gameplay / FF8 Steam and Addons

I posted a thread HERE on how to use these Add-ons with Aali's driver and DLPB's Multi.dll, but what I want to know is -- can we use these with the steam version??
Would the dx_hook.dll with accompanying config file work with this version? or would you have to use DLPB's multi.dll??  Is there a way? I love these add-ons!

Addons:

Hard.dll - Makes the game generally more difficult:
(decreases the player's melee damage by a factor of 1.5, increase the level of enemies by a factor of 1.1, and increase the melee damage of enemies by a factor of 1.1; this does not effect magic damage)

Damage.dll -   Max damage increased to 65k instead of 9999; affects your group and opponents too.
HP.dll -   Max hp cap increased to 32k from 9999
Magic.dll -   You won't lose magic from your inventory when you cast it in battle - but it negates Double and Triple effects [i don't really like this mod - it feels broken]
Publish.dll -   Gets rid of Eidos logo at startup  [this might break Steam version, but is nice for PC version]

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / FF8 Script extender?

Would there be a way to extend the scripting capabilities of the original ff8.exe?  Just a thought - it might help with a future mod.  They did a script extender for Skyrim to deal with similar Mod issues, but I don't really know anything about it at all.

Is there any chance that we can have a FF8-only section?  Where topics for ff8 are solely posted for easy navigation and discussion?

Having both games supported by Aali's driver without having a seperate place for the topics is a real hassle.  Every time I try to figure out more info on modding ff8 I have to dig through pages and pages of information, just to find out what the new or outdated information may be... and then 2 months later I stumble across another post in a completely separate area that I wish I had found when I was originally digging through the forums.  Frustration ensues.

Just trying to make modding as smooth as possible!  This game deserves it, especially now that Squeenix has pretty much pooped on yet another re-release (Steam)

Edit: Sorry - I was having some issues with the forum and meant to post this in the regular topic, and not in releases...

I was going through DLPB's Tools and when I realized what Multi.dll could do, I put it to the test with FF8... here's what happened:

Mission:  To use the old FF8Launcher .dll Add-ons (Damage.dll, Hard.dll, HP.dll, Magic.dll, and Publish.dll) along with with RaW.dll and possibly other future .dll files without having to use the outdated FF8Launcher (which is no longer supported in favor of Aali's Custom Graphics Driver)

Status:  Complete! Everything seems to be working!

Instructions (Only to be used with Aali's Custom Graphics Driver)

1. Download DLPB's Tools

2. Download the FF8Launcher Add-ons

3. Move the Multi.dll file and the "DLL_in" folder from the "Multi_DLL" folder from DLPB's Tools into the FF8 parent application folder (where your ff8.exe is)

4. Move any dll's to be loaded* into the "DLL_in" folder. (RaW.dll, Damage.dll, Hard.dll, HP.dll, etc.)

5. Add the line    load_library="Multi"    to the bottom of your ff8_opengl.cfg file (make sure this is the only library you are loading)

-------------------------------------------------
*You don't need to put eax.dll, bass.dll, or binkw32.dll into the "DLL_in" folder, but I'm not positive about that -- if you just leave them in the parent application folder they're already in, it all seems to work.

This solves any problems with FF8Launcher 1.4 conflicting with Aali's driver, since it bypasses it completely.

Tell me if this works for you!
