Must... resist urge... to troll hilariously salty uber fans...

Are the FixedLightingTextures PART1.rar, FixedLightingTextures PART2.rar, FixedMissing Files.rar, and FixedSpecialCases.rar files still needed for Bootleg now that Omzy has updated the pack?

Trying to clear out the unnecessary stuff from my folder.

3
So Omzy's Field Pack is basically the V3 of Facepalmer, right?  Also, will it be added to a torrent any time soon?  My internet connection is fast but isn't very stable and always cuts out before finishing even with high speeds.

General Discussion / Re: Final Fantasy Versus 13 Cancelled

I'd take this with a grain of salt.  I have a not-so-sneaking suspicion that many of Kotaku's "anonymous" sources are actually "pulled from own ass to generate hits/buzz".  They've done it before, they'll do it again.  Hopefully they're doing it to try to force Squeenix to actually make an official comment on the game.

5
I'm attempting to mirror the files without much luck.

http://filetrip.net/user.php

No 30k speeds or filesize limits and 100 gb of free storage.  2nd only to mediafire.

6
I'm uploading files to RapidShare, 4Shared, FileDen and FileFactory.

Might want to give filetrip.net a try.  It's the closest one to Mediafire that I've found.

7
Couple questions:

1. What exactly does "Bootleg Reworked" in the FMV Cutscene setting install?

2. Does "New Spell Names" conflict with the Retranslation?

8
I think it's adding an apostrophe that works, at least that's how it was for me.

Trish(aka Mike)'s custom model pack.7z

Spelled exactly like that it loaded just fine.

9
I vote no for both.  FF7 Awesome is just plain childish and stupid and the demand for it from the Qhimm crowd is probably in the single digits.  Shalua Rui seems to have huge bugs that would probably cause problems for other mods, is incomplete and likely never will be completed judging by the five month gap in postings, and serves the same purpose as other mods we already have.

10
Try 1024 x 768.  I was having the same problem but setting it to there allowed it to run Fullscreen

11
The game was installed in C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII

I did a full reinstall, this time installing Mode Switching - All Mods instead of just Gjoerulv's Hardcore Mod.  It was slightly different, new enemy encounters that did far more damage but once I get to the screen with the save point before you plant the bomb the only encounter becomes Hedgehog Pie's in the Church background and Guard scorpion was still just a single MP in the Church.

Is there a chance that the patched Kernel for Menu Overhaul, Aries Revival, and Hardcore Mod is screwed up somehow?

12
I'm getting two error logs popping up during install, I believe during the Menu Overhaul installation part.  Both of them say the same thing:

Error in startmap: Incorrect number of entries: 2/11
Error in blackbg2: Incorrect number of entries: 24/42
Error in blackbg3: Incorrect number of entries: 18/28
Error in blackbg4: Incorrect number of entries: 54/72
Error in blackbg7: Incorrect number of entries: 16/25
Error in blackbgi: Incorrect number of entries: 10/17
Error in blackbgk: Incorrect number of entries: 16/21
Error in elminn_1: Incorrect number of entries: 16/17

I remember people mentioning that Menu Overhaul conflicts with the Hardcore Mod and Aries Revival, is that what these are?

EDIT: My Brat Code is: 01110601010100000001201101111

EDIT 2: Also, the battle backgrounds appear to be messed up.  I'm in the Mako Reactor and the battle back is the Church.  o.O

EDIT 3: And Guard Scorpion was a single MP enemy that died in one hit... time to stop playing and wait for help!

13
Hmm, for some reason "Trish(aka Mike)s custom model pack" still shows up as red in the supported mods list despite already having it.  Even after redownloading it... no dice.  Will bootleg still be able to install it when it runs?

14
A dedicated graphics card is a must!  My old laptop was a 2.4GHZ Dual Core with 4 GB Ram but it only had a mobile chipset and Bootleg was completely unplayable on it.

15
Good to know!  Now I just have to wait for 0038... waiting sucks.  ^_^

16
Anybody have a recommendation for which FMV mod to use?  A lot of the posts have dead sample images or none at all.

Also, when selecting Field Textures is "Bootlegged" the best mix of all of them?

Thanks

17
Wow this thing has really taken off since I've been gone... simply amazing you guys!  I have a couple questions though:

1. Do I need to download ALL versions of the FMV's or can I just get the ones I want?  Like if I only want 1280 Smooth do I need to have the 640 Sharp ones anyway?

2.  Same as the first question but with the magochocobo battle packs.  Is it really necessary to have both the LGP and PNG versions?  Don't the PNG one's load faster and without bloating the LGP files unnecessarily?

Thanks for any help.  Can't wait for 0038!

Oh well, I'll have to make due with the earlier version and my own smoothing out of the literal translation I can rip from the RPGOne teams version.

If I decide it's not too much work I'll announce my own mod and what versions I plan on making.

http://www.fantasyanime.com/finalfantasy/ff6/ff6downloads.htm

Has a fair number of the patches people are asking about.  The GBA version with Sound/Color fixed is about the best we can get for now.  If only someone could port in the uncensored graphics/scenes and add the options for harder difficulties (or point me toward the tools that would allow me to do so) we'd have the perfect FFVI playing experience.

Also, anybody have the most complete version of the .ips?  The one from posted on yousendit and mirrored by Covarr?  Both are long gone I'm afraid.

I think your average modder just wants a 'Download - Install - Play' solution and having to deal with all the extra stuff just piles on too much.  Luckily for us you came along and took most of the guesswork out of it.

Also, if you don't want extra files floating around you might want to contact Magochocobo and find out definitively if you need both the .png's and the .lgp's.  From everything I've read it seams like the .lgp's are no longer necessary.

APZ Freak still has the best around but unfortunately he hasn't finished the new cannon Cloud just yet so I think whatever version is in the Remix is the best we've got.

Good work and thanks again for putting all this together.

PS - What settings do you personally prefer when installing this?

21
Figured it out, all the files need to be on the same drive/partition as the game install.  Thanks for the help guys.

22
Already on a fresh install into the default path for Win 7 and the Bootleg.exe is in with the mods.

Do the mod files need to be extracted or still zipped?  (tried both)
Do I need to have all the programs (kimera, wallmarket, etc) installed/unzipped?  If so, then where to?
Do all the mod files and Bootleg.exe need to be on the same drive/partition as the FF7 install?
Do I need to have the mods I don't want to install in the folder with the mods in it?  EX: Do I need the V2 of the limit break mod if I only want V3?
In the readme the programs list includes ff7_1.02.zip and ff7_102.zip.  I'm assuming these are redundant of the 1.02 patch folder but the one in your mod.html is named ff7102zx.zip do i need to change the name?

23
"Run Bootleg.exe as administrator by right clicking on Bootleg.bat and selecting Run as administrator."

I must be missing something obvious but there is no Bootleg.bat when I unzip the installer.  Running Bootleg.exe as Administrator (from folder or command prompt) only brings up a command prompt splash screen then sends me back to the root folder.

I have the power pack installed, WallMarket wouldn't run without it.  And it's at least partly working apart from those two patches; the Aries and Menu patch both worked.

I've gone through the thread and only two people had the same error, neither of them from the same problem, and the only answer given is that wallmarket can only handle bin files up to a certain size... which makes no sense since my kernel.bins should be the exact same as yours.

I've also tried using older versions of wallmarket and get the same problem.

EDIT:  It won't even let me create kernel.bin when I have the remix or hardcore kernel opened.  I'm not even sure if it's saving the ones I can modify anywhere, does it output a new file somewhere or just update the one you're editing?  I'm completely stumped here, I followed your instructions perfectly multiple times and this just doesn't work.

25
Problems with Kernel Editing in Wallmarket!  When I try to create a patch for either the Remix or Hardcore kernels I always get an error that says "Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow." and hitting Continue just cancels the patch creation.  Any way around this?  I've tried multiple installs both in and out of Program Files (x86) and it always happens.

EDIT:  If I'm understanding this process correctly (probably not) then couldn't I just apply the Menu and Aries patches to the Hardcore Kernel.bin?  What does the Remix kernel.bin add?
