Not for nothin' I hate to be a stick in the mud but... Your avatar is frekin' huge! it's 150x150 and just about eight and a half kb.

Please read:
    Rules
  • Maximum picture size - 100x100 pixels
  • Maximum file size - 10kb
^You sir just so happen to break a whole buncha rules all at once! I suggest you make like a bat and get aquainted with them. <This didn't make any sense (did in my head) I'm leaving it for my bad jokes file.

Also: Your model sucks... sorry. Maybe you could post a better one  that isn't so ugly. :(

There's only one PSP title in here, and it requires a PSP, thanks to the fact that it comes on a UMD.
Well in order to be a 'timeless' collection you need to offer a physical version. At -any- time PSN could pull the plug. Also, let us not forget PSP is huge in Japan has been the #1 system for awhile now.

Sometimes it is tempting to ask for donations for all the hard work but then you have to factor in that the soundtrack wasn't created by me and that making money off mods like this one (where I am using the official soundtrack) is probably illegal (I dunno... guessing).Any case, since I don't know the legality, qhimm's position on it, and moreover I'd feel... bad for asking for donations, the only real support you can give me is a thanks and to let others know about the mod Dan
Not exactly true since Qhimm himself takes donations for everything found here. Donations are a bit of a grey area. There are a number of churches in my area that hosts 'movie' night. Where they ask for donations to get a ticket, I highly doubt anyone's hauling the priest off to jail.

Thanks guys! way better then before. :)

Mr Valle there is no need... Aali's driver reads these from the mod folder.

If you're using Photoshop, when you are reducing to 2x are you using Bicubic Sharper (best for reduction) or Nearest Neighbor (preserve hard edges)? Bicubic sharper will sharpen the image whereas nearest neighbor will simply resize it without any filters.

Yeah, but as I stated there is a drop in quality...

As you can see the difference is slight. But noticeable.

EDIT: Fixed original link...

58
Arg I've spent hours toiling away... seems there IS a loss of quality when going to 2x. It's very slight, but its there...

59
I also am preferring quality over portability here. If someone else wants to downscale or further make more efficient this mod and provide an alternate download link, that is totally fine with me.
Thanks Omzy, reducing the images to 2X does not come at a loss of quality. I'm in the process of optimizing everything. :) It should not take me to long, I work very fast.

There are some companies that have departments that know nothing about how the parent company treats or feels about their IPs and people using their stuff, and just attempt lawsuits because they can, even if it holds no weight.
Agreed, SE does not fall into this category (yet) though. Never happened is just that. =/ Even if he did, he would be the very first.

The Notch thing is vastly different. He haz munnys. Lots and lots of money. However, if Notch was broke, he could release that game anywhere at any time and bethesda would not care. So unless falkTX is secretly Bill Gates, I don't think he has much to worry about. Square has much bigger fish to fry, like actually turning a profit. :P

61
...I thought Lost Odyssey had Final Fantasy written all over it. Also in a interview Hironobu Sakaguchi wanted to break away from Final Fantasy with Last Story as much as possible:

Mako's Cool Quotes:
"a new form of RPG by choosing the universal theme of human emotion"

Blue Dragon also played allot like Final Fantasy. Example: replace the dragons with a job system, rename the title. There ya' go! perfect Final Fantasy.

62
To be fair only things related to the chrono series has been shut down... There are a number of full final fantasy fan remakes  out in the wild, including a full engine remake found here. Also two very high profile 2D remakes. One crappy 3D unreal FF7 remake hit almost every news site some time ago.

But you just so happened to join the one community (mostly coming from Halkun) that thinks Square is out to get them. In-fact there is not even a single case where Square interfered at all in anything related to it's Final Fantasy IP.

**
Course it could happen. But so could getting stuck by a meteor. Cept' getting stuck by a meteor has actually happened, Square sending a C&D to a Final Fantasy project has not. So odds are much much lower.

Good Luck!

Title says it all. All the links are busted and I'm dying to play FF7 over the next few days... anybody got a link?

« on: 2012-08-19 04:24:30 »
DLPB,This mod (at least for me) seems to overwrite something that effects FF7 Music, if you install FF7 Music after this mod everything seems to work. But if you install it after no matter what config you choose you get no sound. Evidence seems to be popping up in the increase in "my music is not playing threads."

EDIT: Scratch that Ficedula's music is just being wonky. It just clears its setting for no reason.

65
Best visual mod in existence. Here I was looking into shaders..

Ahem NOPE! Covarr FF7 music works 100%. Yours only seems to play the midi no matter what option... I'm guessing it a root folder problem.

EDIT: Wait no. It seems to be working now. that's weird... I need sleep.

FF7 Tools / Re: WIP a patch to convert new FF7 to old

sound buffer problem but it may be caused by the new video's, i will look into that soon.
I can confirm that it is, it's only in the SE logo (that I've seen) because the video is longer then intended I think.

71
whats easier to mod about the new?
Mostly the music aspect of it. Out of the box on the old we were forced to use FF7 music. A bunch of mods aren't needed anymore as well. (Audio, resolution, fmvs, ect.)

72
Hello all, with the release of FF7 Re-Release today, I'd thought it be nice to have a discussion on which version you prefer. Here are the pro and cons I can think of:

Re-Release:
Has .ogg support.
Much cleaner fmv's (then anything I've seen on Qhimm)
Battles look amazing, while staying true to the original.
Slightly easier to Mod in some aspects.

Original:
Support for great mods.
Better Backgrounds. (Does not seem like the shaders are used at-all in the re release on the backgrounds. Altering the shaders only affected the .fmv files.)
Fixed mini-games thanks to Dan. (This might be available in the future for the re-release)
Better translation options.
More graphical options.

**
Me, I actually prefer the original over the re-release. The inclusion of .ogg, fmv, and battles aren't a strong enough case to deal with the horrible drm issues and the loss of really great mods.

I'm actually curious to see the in-engine up-scaling vs the released packs on here, as well as not having to use FF7Music, as simple as it may be.
Yeah I'm still interested, albet a bit shaken. The shaders are a bit more advanced then anything found here. and depending on how the engine itself scales the image it might not need that much filtering. I'm also more interested in the bug fixes they implemented.

All-in-all they are packaged the same way, and the games shaders and plugin folders are out in the open. The game looks to be MORE moddable. =/

Also, you automatically make an opposite claim if you go about questioning his.
No, standing against someone does not mean I 'pick' and side. I would just like to hear more before I jump to any conclusions. This is a neutral stance on the issue.

Quote
I love people like you, trying to pass themselves off as better and more mature than they actually are.
Never said any of that. I just said I don't have a stance and I wish Dan would stop the name calling. I wish you would to, it's beneath you.

Quote
All they really do is cleverly mask their instigation with neutral looking words.
There is no such thing as neutral looking words. They are ether neutral or not.  If a word looks neutral that's cause it is. Funny thing about words is they made up entirely of visual characters. Meaning how you interpret those visual characters is how you yourself were taught to interpret them. I suggest you re-interpret what I'm saying, without the name calling.

I cannot commit instigation if the person in question is not see able to see my posts.

I guess the positive out of all of this is "you love people like me" I'll take it where I can get it. =/ even if you are being un-kind.

If his assumptions and fact treating that there will be nothing of value in the re-release are in need of proof, SO ARE YOURS Mako.
I make no claim to anything besides I need more info then a teaser video. I have no argument to present. I stated what I would like. So pretty much 2/3rds of you Me vs Him is null.

Quote
And no, you'd be the bigger person if you would stop arguing with him like a little kid.
Arguing and asking for facts is two separate yet completely different things.  Mako's Fun Fact: Did you know DLPB has put me on ignore six times in the past. Only risk of embarrassing myself would happen if I reduced myself to name calling to prove my point. (if I had one) That or jump in a thread and claim I have a side and tell another what 'side' they are on without reading or understanding the posts.
