The mode changing was working fine for me once I changed the location of the mod folder. I only dabbled with the bombing mission section, but it was okay. I'll try it again some other time. As for the field packs, it seems like opera is a bad choice when downloading files from google as the Omzy field pack was only 128 mb versus the actual 3 gb size. I got the file downloaded using chrome and then everything was fine. Thanks for your help, Template. And yeah it'd be great if Omzy would drink more beer and work on those problems.

Three suggestions:
1.) Complete uninstall.
2.) Download the previous version of ff7music(12 on the end) and replace 13 (13 has issues).
3.) Something just doesn't look right about using your desktop for the mod folder. It's probably not an issue... but just out of superstition let's move that to idk, C:\FF7mods\ - something simple.

1. Done
2. Done
3. Well this seemed to help a bit with the All Game Modes + Aerith Revival issue. I have the retranslated dialogue and the option to turn on Aerith Revival, but so long as I leave it off the retranslation is fine. So this was a good suggestion overall, but I'm still having issues with the field textures. Tomorrow I will attempt without multiple modes and just use the Remastered game mode and see how it goes. If you would like me to repost my bootleg.log I will in the morning.

can u post in code tags the contents of yout bootleg.log file? it may be in the directory with bfe if its not in the game folder.

Yah those are the original field backgrounds, what operating system are you on? Are you using Tifa's torrent or did you download the mods separate? How many folders do you have in your
./Games/FFVII/mods/ directory?
If you have 2 folders in there and 1 is named DK, and the other is Bootleg, copy paste overwrite everything from DK into bootleg, and then change the modpath in bootloader.exe to Bootleg instead of DK.

Windows 7, downloaded mods separate, one folder named Bootleg.

I've been having some trouble getting the field textures to show up. I've taken some screen shots of what I am seeing and just wanna see if everything looks as it should or not. I'm not seeing anything near as good as the pics Omzy posted, but maybe I'm blind? Either way I think there is something going wrong and not letting me install the facepalmer and field textures correctly. I'm following Tifa's tutorial and I have tried doing this with multiple game modes and just remastered.

Screenshots: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ggauqn7753ba2s2/ffviiscreens.zip

If anyone can help me out here that'd be great.

Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg

Theoretically, the Catalyst 13.5 BETA 2 should also work for the 5xxx series. (see here)
With the 12.8 (which I had before) it also goes.

Please let uninstall everything from Catalyst before installation of another driver.

I must retire now, just work on the GC.

Okay I had the wrong movies selected so no issue there. Fixed the sound issue. Textures still seem a bit eh gonna try a higher graphics setting in config with shaders see how it goes. The retranslation is still not applying. I had it applied in the past when I did this with the original PC discs, but for some reason it's not working now. I may have to give up on the multiple game modes after all if I want the retranslation but I'm really hesitant to do so. If anyone has any ideas about that I'm all ears. I may take some screenshots tomorrow for the textures but for now I am heading to bed.

Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg
« on: 2013-07-28 07:34:39 »
If AMD wants you on 13.4 that's the current "legacy" driver (polite way for them to say your card is too old to keep up with properly) and that's up to you. I do not want to be responsible telling people to change drivers.
You changed the modpath to bootleg, too? This issue with menu overhaul is almost certainly user error. MO has been tested up the wazoo.
What are you using to launch the game? A file? The bootloader "Play ff7" button?

I'm fairly certain I changed the modpath to bootleg. I'm not trying to say MO is the issue, it probably was something I did wrong. I was using the bootloader.

Edit: I'm just gonna uninstall and reinstall. Considering multiple difficulty mods isn't advised, I may just do the remastered only. Though I really did like the option of swapping difficulty mods on the fly without having to reinstall.

Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg
« on: 2013-07-28 07:22:54 »
1. The various video packages are all just different versions of the same movies. They have different scaling and color/darkness qualities, but they are all almost all the same content. Which FMV package did you install in bootleg? I'm interested in the slow codec performance on them and I think my first suggestion would be to change the movie path in bootloader config to the movies folder in Final Fantasy VII/data/movies. Starting with the actual opening movie, those are some of the best examples of these old FMVs in existence. It's one of the few things SE really did to the rerelease at all.
2. The backgrounds? From the FAQ:
➣ I installed FF7 Game Converter from STEP 0, and the FacePalmer field textures don't appear to be working.

    Download Omzy's FF7 Field Textures.
Extract the "field" folder into the ...\mods\Bootleg folder.
Edit "Run FFVII-Bootleg.bat" and remove all /AFFINITY F. Save before closing.
EDIT>Whoops, this is only for XP i guess... made no sense to me either way lol, changed in FAQ
3. Don't really understand this issue, none of the names of the characters have been changed at all? The items? What do you mean it fails on various modes? Are you trying to reinstall bootleg on top of itself with different modes? The retranslation itself is a preview and only goes til so far in the game, the name changes and item changes should be permanent tho, unless you reinstall Menu Overhaul (which can be done multiple times after bootleg without uninstalling it) and uncheck the retranslation completely.
4. Known issue, very irritating I know, should be fixed soon (yay)
5. Out of scope. Test with another pair of earphones or another motherboard

1. I don't actually remember off the top of my head now (silly, I know) but I remember a mod that utilized movies from the tech demo and Crisis Core for the opening etc etc and had wanted to apply this. I did not try to install the bootleg on top of the bootleg, I know that's bad.
2. Oh well I did forget to try it but yeah I'm on 7.
3. Nothing changes. Basically when I say "fails in various modes", I installed the multiple mods option for different difficulty settings, remastered, etc. In the command prompt during the bootleg install, it showed up with the retranslation failing in normal and hardcore modes for the game.
4. Well that is good to know!
5. Well I've actually had the problem on another pair of headphones. And...yeah...I am not buying another motherboard for FFVII lol. Is there no known fix for this?

What Catalyst do you use?
How much memory does your graphics card?

Catalyst version 11.6. I just noticed there is an update available. Do you think I should update to 13.4?
Memory on the graphics card should be 1gb as I recall.

I'm scared to suggest new drivers on a 5700, since I did that with a 5800 last night and the guy said no dice...

My opinion: At least it's running, dude. You win. About the Menu Overhaul thing: What I forgot to highlight is that you need to fix your mods folder. In the Final Fantasy VII\mods\ directory will be 2 folders: Bootleg and DK. Two steps now--
1. Copy and paste/overwrite everything from DK to Bootleg
2. In bootloader change the modpath to Bootleg

Anytime you reinstall Menu Overhaul on a bootleg build you'll have to do that.

Well I've had it running before and a qhimm user actually ended up having to remote into my system and fixing it. There was a major compatibility issue but once he fixed it up everything was fine. Yes, I deleted everything (probably a bad idea). But I just would like to think I can get this working better like it was before lol. And yeah I did the copy from DK to Bootleg thing didn't help.

Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg
« on: 2013-07-28 06:26:07 »
I've run into a few problems so far.

1. FMVs did not change, they're the same FMVs as the original game had. I had specifically tried to install mods to change these and not use the originals.
2. Field textures seem to not be changing and appear to be the original textures of the game
3. The retranslation is not applying at all. During the patching process, it came up and failed in normal and various hardcore modes, and trying to reinstall the Menu Overhaul seemed to not work either.
4. At the end of a battle as the camera zooms in on the characters, half the screen is cut off by a black square for a few seconds before changing to the next screen.
5. Sound effects and music are getting split up between my headphones and my computer's speakers when using headphones. When the headphones are unplugged, this is not an issue.

Sorry if any fixes have been posted in this thread about these issues, admittedly I did not look over the entire thread but I did try reinstalling MO while reading the FAQs and that unfortunately did not work.

Really wanna get this game but my current version of Android doesn't support it. Only running Android on a nook color right now and haven't looked into upgrading  :|

Yeah I also gotta go with Berserk. The latest movie is pretty good and faithful to the manga but I do recommend the manga over everything else. The tv series isn't too bad if you skip past the opening and ending songs...

Don't know you either but I don't know most people here....but hey, come back!

It seems like the old has more opportunity for now. I wonder if the pros of the 2012 release could be modded and improved or blended with future mods to create something that's got all the pros and none of the cons? But it is nice being able to digitally get FFVII for ten bucks. And if the current mods basically turn it into the old version (but better with the mods) then yeah I'd say old version all the way lol.

General Discussion / Re: support for modders

While I have not done much around here and mostly lurked, I have achieved something thanks to all the work of people here at qhimm. So I can honestly say I'm grateful and the deserve the support. I'm not sure what I can contribute, but here's to hoping that qhimm never goes away.
