[FF7PC] New RedXIII model (2012-06-25)

hi everyone!i've ask to obesebear to post this topic.i put a texture on the redXIII from TA,i made some parts on texture,retouch parts and imported again.So with you permission can i post my work here to downlaod?

The hair seems a bit to bright (over sharpened is the best way i can describe it) face looks great though

I think the poly count would need to be raised to make this look a lot better. It honestly looks mushy and it's a little hard on the eyes. I personally thought the brighter coat was a better look.

If you could raise the fur definition to a brighter tone, I think it would soften the overall look and be more presentable. I double taked now and I see the look the texture is going for, but I still think it would be too dark for in game.

I went into photoshop for about 5 min, I wanted to give you a quick idea to what I meant about brighter coat and softening those dark lines.



The top left photo of red XIII shows his bracers have a lot less shine and they actually looks like bracers instead of fiery bracers

a tip for the texture - dont concern yourself with the texture of the fur. look at the original concept art, and try to match the red/yellow orange around the body. once that's dont its quite easy to make it more 'fur'-like

The newer one is much better!  I think there can probably be some tweaks to reduce the noise even more.  But I think it's damn good.

I wouldn't use that noisy fur texture. That sort of detail won't work well at the small sizes it'll actually be displayed at, nor with a lot of motion or in the context of FF7's rather smooth, well-blended textures. Graphical upgrades need to enhance aesthetics by identifying what works well in the original design and furthering those elements, not trying to crowbar in an extremely different design style.

I disagree.  I think the fur texture fits pretty well.  IIRC the texture Millenia made for cloud was pretty overly detailed as well.  I posted pictures of it after I imported it, and bland textures definitely don't look good in my opinion.


But, Timu and SL are in charge of Team Avalanche.  So I guess if they say it's not good enough to be included in the project that's that. 


Though I'd still use it.

I agree, the model the way it looks now is great to me and id definitely use it. And just solid colors alone would just be too plain for me, so I like that he tweaked it the way he did

This looks a lot better. You should present a "zero fur" texture model and see which one is more appealing ;)

Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying there should be no fur texture. However that kind of detail should be done on top of the plain color layer. Also the noisy fur texture isnt ideal. It looks procedurally generated onto the model, and doesnt have any flow, like fur should.

I would say keep it simple, give his body a bit more definition and shape. (Remember he's a lean creature.  You can accomplish this with a little bit of polygon tweaking.)  Also, I like the texture on the most recent model.  Do you think you would be able skin him with a nice smooth orange/red color set as in the original concept art? You could reduce the opacity on the texture, but the style of the game makes me think some nice smooth colors would look a bit better. Great work so far! I'm a poor hand with models and textures myself, so you're already doing well in my book.

I did not realize the model is the model of the Avalanche team and for the texture I just apllied the texture on the model (texture made ​​by Rikuko from deviantart) I just did some little things such as such as bracelets, scar ...and import again into the game.so i don't if i can make best.
