I noticed in your APP log is that you are running on the Intel HD Graphics. I did see in your images that you have the Nvidia Control Panel set to correctly to run from your GPU, so it's odd that the game doesn't register it when playing. Check this post to see if you're related: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13248.0 --- If that doesn't help, then you will need to do a search for your specific laptop on how to switch between the integrated and dedicated graphics.

The FacePalmer textures have been updated since the release of Bootleg 0039. You will want to use them > DOWNLOAD HERE < . Extract them to C:\Games\FF7\Bootleg\field. If you ever do a new install of Bootleg, leave the "Remove Glitched" box unchecked since the new pack fixed them.

If you want to post large strings of text, such as the APP log, just stick it between [ code ] [ /code ] (take out the spaces). It will then come out to look like this:

Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you.  I wanted to give it the time to test and make sure it all worked.  I've got it registering the nvidia graphics card and (after a good deal of tweaking to get it running the way I really need it to for the purposes I'm replaying) running at a smooth 30-ish FPS.  I've given it several hours of play and a fresh save (new game to defeating airbuster) and not only have I not encountered my previous freeze issue, I've also noticed a general improvement in gameplay.

Hey guys just went through all the huge mess with the mods and the trouble of getting them to work with the re-release.  That being said I like to thank you EQ2Alyza for your excellent tutorial it helped me out tremendously.  I thought it might interest you guys to know that you didn't need to worry about getting the disc check thing and the achievements work fine.  I plan on uploading some videos so I'll post a link when I get them done.  I just used the exe file from the re-release and it worked out like a charm.  Also one last thing to point out, if you did the Scorpicus sephiroth patch before running the game before it being updated by the client the portrait and model on the map outside of battle will revert to cloud.  To fix this you need to run the LGP tool portion again to get it to work but it is possible.

edit: waiting on the cutscene to download and I got over an half an hour till its done.

Edit 2: Well just got done making a video.  I'm using fraps and I had to push the button every five seconds so you might see some time lost but not to big tried to time it as close as I could.  Unfortunately I as mentioned in my recent post I couldn't get the cutscene one to work.  If anyone knows a way please let me know thank you in advance.

Hello all, firstly thankyou all for your contributions. This game is most definitely my favourite of all time, so firstly having a remake was good. Then finding out about this community minutes after made it even better.

I've been fiddling with all the settings for around 20 hours, mostly non-stop, as i have been encountering a fair few problems. I would fix one, but then another would come up. I've now got to a point where everything seems fine apart from the game setting.

I go through all the steps of the bootleg with all the correct files, HOWEVER, with gjoerulv I could not find the .5 release, only the newest .6. That would then stay in red, so i just renamed it .5 and carried on, not sure how stupid this is of me as before it worked fine and I could use the harder gameplay.

Now however, all my mods are working except i do not get the bootloader config pop up box, it just goes straight into the Play and Configure part. Also, there is no choice for Game Mode, it says there is nothing else (although I went through the patch process).

Is it just a matter of me not checking 1997 instead of 2012 rerelease that has caused issues, or is there something here that i am missing? Essentially all i want is the exact same game, only with harder difficulty and a few graphical and musical enhancements.

w7 +sp1 x64.
Bought off Square Enix site, re-release.
Installed to C:\Games\FF7.

By the way have you been able to get a work around for the cutscene's for sephiroth?  I tried to patch it but the version the re-release uses on one of them isnt compatible.  Also the problem with Sephiroth is his mouth is always open like going "Duh!" before he talks and when he puts his head down when he thinks its even more priceless but gets old quick.

Edit: well if you guys haven't yet just uploaded the video and linked it in my post before this one.

OK, I kinda disappeared at the bottom of the last page there. Reposting:
I checked the cfg file, but it was already set to 1920x1080, which is the same as my desktop resolution.

I've also tried it at lower resolutions, like 1280x768, and I get the same error.

Your battle menu looks that way because you have enabled Break Limit 9999 for both Menu Overhaul and Bootloader Configure. Leave it unchecked inside Bootloader Configure.

I have the Break Limit 9999 disabled and I didn't install it on the Menu Overhaul cause I want basicly the same game with better graphics. Supposably I have a GeForce 520M on this thing I just don't know why it's working with the intel like u can see it in here:

Do not use this parameter!
Comment it out with a #.

This option is not documented by Aali, he does not want it used.
The parameter applies only to a few mini-games (for example, G-Bike, snowboard).
In addition, there are only values allowed that your monitor (TV?) In the wanted resolution (1920x1080) are supported.
I.e. if your monitor at this resolution only eg 50Hz creates Aalis driver will display the note you mentioned and starts in a window.



@ nikolaz

I think your PC is using the first listed video card, so the Intel.
Start the FF7Config with admin rights and try on the tab "Graphics" in the "Display" the NVIDIA card to adjust.

If that does not help, you can try to disable the Intel graphics in the device manager.
Warning!
This may mean that you no longer have a picture, or a different plug is activated.
When that happens you can start your PC in safe mode and undo the changes.

Set option to a value that your monitor does not guarantee (eg refresh_rate = 10) and see what happens.

Almost all monitors provide the 60 Hz.
WSabey may have a monitor, which can not.

That is the error he reported originally, which happened for refresh rate @ 60.

I suspected the same as you for his monitor. He would have to know more about it than us. If you turn off refresh rate with the #, then will it not matter then what monitor is used?

So now you got me :)

After some tests I found out that Aalis driver always operates at 60 Hz, if you omit the parameter.
Even after I selected a resolution that only works on 50 Hz, the driver has simply chosen a different resolution at 60 Hz.
If I refresh rate = 50 explicitly set, the driver does so well, even if the monitor supports.

When one presses on the monitor the Info button, you can see the number of Hz.
If that is not 60, you can change the refresh rate accordingly.

I think we can only wait to see what WSabey has to say.

thanks for the response.

i believe i have all mods working, except it doesn't allow me to choose the hardcore version before starting up the game. i have the hardcore mod (.6 version) so in bootleg it is in red, as that says the .5 is needed.

i'm not really sure what to do, as everything seems to work until it gets to actually running the game, where it says no other game modes are available.

to install hardcore with bootleg 0039, you need the 1.5 install version
1.6 will work with bootleg 0040, but not 0039

Hi, I finally got around to testing things, and I can confirm that changing the refresh rate does affect it. With it set explicitly to 50 or 60, it fails, while when commented out or set explicitly to 30, it loads in fullscreen. I'm at a loss to suggest why, since I'm quite sure all my other games run just fine at 60Hz. Still, I'm happy now since I can play the game outside of a tiny 640x480 window (or whatever it was).

OK, I had a look in control panel, and for some reason the desktop was set to update at 30Hz! Presumably this was why FF7 wouldn't accept a higher frequency? I set it to 60Hz and the game now works just fine at 60Hz. Kinda odd that it would affect it like that; most games aren't affected by what the desktop resolution is set to.
