FF7 PSX Mass ISO update (SOLVED)
« on: 2013-09-18 12:33:49 »
Hello everyone I have compiled a patch for the PSX version of FFVII that will allow the use of a 16 part Field model for Cloud. This way Cloud can easily be replaced by Sephiroth or Zack or a Cloud wielding the buster sword on his back.

The only problem is the fact that I had to mod all BSX/DAT files at once which means I have 1400 patched files that I wanna get into the ISO somehow. Currently Im inserting them manually 1 by 1 using CDProg but it really is super boring and takes ages.

Does someone have a solution to Mass update the FIELD folder ? This way I could quickly release this patch for multiple versions as a modders resource.

UPDATE

This tool does the job:

Sure ppf patches can handle any kind of mod on an iso at once but when I compile the ppf i must already have a modded iso so the ppf can search the differences and thus be created.

Ahh no thats something different :D

Well look theres a directory on the iso called "FIELD". This directory simply is a list of filenames that belong to the category field. However that does not mean that all those files are actually in any kind of order on the image. If you look at the lbas you see that the field directory is a total mess. Thats why - when I wanna update all dat and bsx files inside it - I have to update every single file manually.

Cdmage already has the quite advanced option of automatically extracting the whole Field folder at once so it really searches all lbas and extracts the files. Unfortunately this does not work vice versa. This would require some programming...

I have never had to do a mass update but i do remember seeing a tool in "Final Fantasy VII International all-in-one translation package" By Gemini.
It comes with a command line tool which you should be able to replace files in batch into the PSX ISO
