Game Installation issue. NonSE game
« on: 2012-01-29 02:14:08 »
My morrowind goty, which works fine on my desktop, is having issues working on my laptop.  Each time I try to install it I get an error, tells me installation support file _IsRes.dll file cannot create a file when that file already exists.  Any ideas?

Go to /users/[username]/AppData/local/temp and clear it out. This is an issue with InstallShield (and a good argument for why even professionals shouldn't be paying for that crap when free alternatives such as NSIS do the job better).

I have cleared it out, the path name that goes with thay errorbisngeneratrd by the install program.  I've ran ccleaner, gone to the temp folder myself, made sure it was empty, same result.

Nevermind, I swear this laptop hates the hell out of me.  Must still have some sand in it from its trip to Iran.

Double edit.  It did it again when it started to install the construction editor, haven't installed the expansions yet, tried to run it, it crashed. This makes me sad

I got it installed and running!
Windows compatability 2000 fixed everything.  Go figure.
