General Discussion / What work still remains undone?
« on: 2013-12-30 23:07:41 »
I find myself with some more free time and would like to do some more work on FF7, thing is a lot of stuff has been done in the past 2 years and I really havent kept track of it.

If someone could tell me some things that still need work done to them, I could select something that would be to my abilities to work on.

Completely Unrelated / I need the original Apz Cloud
« on: 2013-12-30 22:22:19 »
Hey guys I know this was taken off the forum because of the issues with the original cloud, but that is my favorite cloud model to date.

I lost a bunch of files on my pc and Apz cloud was one of them.

Can someone PM me and help me locate this file?

I just happened across this video and thought it was pretty good. It contains some things I have never seen before, and is very interesting to watch.

Hey guys, Im trying to make an intro for an upcoming video series of mine, dedicated to growing medical marijuana, and I want to spruce it up with many effects.

Right now I have some stock smoke footage to use, but I want to overlay some 3d text that has some motion in it, maybe flames or something of the like(flames may be a little too much). I also want to be able to kind of "blow" this text away at the end with the stock smoke footage.

If anyone can lead me in the right direction to learn these techniques, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you have any suggestions on how to spruce up my intro even further, Im all ears. I want this to look very professional, and will spend a lot of time on it to do so.

If you like video editing or effects, or just have some suggestions, please make a post here, I would love some input on my ideas.

Thanks,
Jeffdamann

A new edition of Final Fantasy 7 could finally be released on Steam, a leaked product description suggests.

The fresh version will include Steam features such as achievements (36 of them) and cloud saving as well as online profiles for you to compare game progress with friends.

There will also be a new Character Booster item to max-out your HP, MP and Gil levels for when you "find yourself stuck on a difficult section or lacking the funds to buy that vital Phoenix Down".

The new information briefly appeared on FinalFantasyVIIPC.com, a domain that Final Fantasy developer Square Enix registered on 15th June (as spotted by the GOG Forum).

The page is still visible via Google's sneaky cache.

Square Enix listed the digital download as £7.99/€9.99.

It wouldn't be the first time Square Enix has considered releasing the game on Steam. Steam registry entries for Final Fantasy 7 and 8 were discovered in June last year.

Looks like its finally coming guys. Discuss :P

I stumbled across a gem of a game today at kongregate.com, titled Abobo's Big Adventure.

This is the most successful NES crossover implementation I have ever seen. This game has everything. Epic cameos from every NES character imaginable, 10 or so different NES "worlds" to explore.(Worlds are basically a clone of the NES game it belongs to, with awesome differences) Awesome moves, Extreme yet very well used gore.

I cant rave about this game enough. I jsut beat it and it was unlike anything Ive played in years. The basic story is that you are Abobo(boss from Double Dragon) and someone has kidnapped you son, Aboboy. You strike out on a quest to rescue him from his captor. Along the way, you play through 10 NES Games with cameos from Hundreds of characters all along the way. The characters can be friendly, enemies, even bosses. Some of your favorite NES titles are covered here. Double Dragon, Zelda, Megaman, Punchout, Contra, Mario, and many others. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Completely Unrelated / Gamermann - Let's Play
« on: 2012-02-09 04:30:58 »
What's up guys. Ive started doing LP's recently, and I have one up on youtube. I would greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions you could leave me, I want to be very succesful with my LP'S and I would like any criticism so that I may improve.

I shall have a title screen one day, but Im not that good at making NEW video assets. If anyone cares enough to make me a short intro piece that say Gamermann - Let's Play, or something similar, I would gladly accept it lol.

Anyway, here is my first LP, I did not practice the game or the narration, its all a first draft. Let me know what I should change.

As you guys know Im an avid member of overclock.net and follow hardware news there routinely.
In the past few days Bulldozer Chips have been showing up in very odd ways(before the NDA lift) on many websites.

Shortly after this, we got our first look at the leaked press kit. A day later, we have leaked Benches from PCM, although they were clearly not run under ideal conditions, as indicated by the material in the original source article.

When this information was discovered, it took about 2 hours for PCM to pull it down, apparently threatened by the attention they were getting, and afraid of what action AMD may take for them breaching the terms of the NDA.

Here is the thread describing what we all saw.  http://www.overclock.net/rumors-unconfirmed-articles/1134704-pcm-leaked-dutch-fx-8150-review.html

Since the source was pulled, many people can not get the benches that were shown, but a member of Overclock.net, Olivion,  compiled this list so that others can see for themselves.

This is the SAME list that was posted earlier today, it is unedited, and a fair look at BD;s performance.

I wanted BD to be a real competitor more than anyone, but you have to admit, AMD has made STRIDES since the Phenom. Hopefully we will get some serious competition between the two camps in 1-2 more generations of chips, because AMD's next move will only slightly increase the performance of Bulldozer, much Like Ivy Bridge will for Sandy.

Please let me know what you think of these scores, and what you think about the bulldozer chip.

See that? why is it reversing the slashes there, thereby making it impossible to use any mods via the modpath?
also its treating the texture folder the same way I would guess, because I can get no mods within it to work as well.

General Discussion / Lets Play: FF7 Hardcore
« on: 2011-07-18 10:17:53 »
Im going to do a lets play of GjoeRulvs FF7 hardcore. Im going to also use all the mods from here in my videos.

I need to know a good video convertor to reduce the massive size of FRAPS avi's to a more reasonable level with little loss of detail. For 20 mins im thinking of around 1 gig. What do you suggest? Also what should I use to record audio over the file?(Commentary)

Also I need suggestions on how to alter my playing style to highlight the new tactics involved because I just always followed my old tactics of power-level, spam hero drink/megalixer, etc lol.

Completely Unrelated / Bitcoin Discussion
« on: 2011-07-11 22:21:12 »
Having these 6970's, I just started mining bitcoins. Ive read a lot of info on it, but the currency's inner workings are still unknown to me.

I have 1 lingering question.. What gives a bitcoin value. Is it really just because people give it value? The wiki states that the mathematical prrof of work problems that your gpu performs are internal to bitcoins operations. This doesnt make sense to me.

I mean couldnt we all have just decided to make rocks a currency and decide to pay so much per rock? Would it be any different?(assuming there would only ever be 21 million rocks in the world and it takes time and effort to find a rock.)

Im giving this thing a go, considering the rates of increase. I currently make around 1 BTC per day(15$ at current exchange rate) I am also dumping excess cash into bitcoins, I hope the bottom doesnt fall out.

Am I wasting my time?(please dont comment on this without more knowledge of the system than me)

Also discussions about bitcoins are explicitly FORBIDDEN at overclock.net . I wonder why? What is so bad about them to FORBID any discussion about them?

Please share any thoughts you have on this phenomena, Id really like to hear your input.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaOIR0ri3F8&NR=1

How IN THE WORLD are the wheels not moving. Ive studied this video for like 10 minutes now and can see no reasonable solution.

One guy in the comments said that the wheels could be doing 25 rotations per second ecactly, and if thats what the camera records at then the result would be non-moving wheels. But come on, what are the odds of the wheels moving at the precise speed of the camera for the entire video

I also see no ways how something like this could be faked. Care to solve the mystery?

EDIT: I studied the shadows and it seemed that when it comes back into the light you can see movement in the shadows.
My wife then pointed out the bolts/rivets on the tire rim. At the very end you can see them spinning on the rim, as if the rim is turning and the tire is not... Freaky.
