Graphical / Re: epsxe filtering + some reshade effects

Thanx. I think it was called 4xAA or something like that. Then it's reshade framework with several different effects on.

I remade the ReShade config together with another shader SimoneT at ngemu.com made. It is trying to look like Waifu2x, wich is probably impossible. But it is at least better than my previous settings. Just wanted to show it.

They used to for free accounts, but they stopped doing that about a year ago, when they eliminated pro accounts.
Ok. I think it is the debanding noise that somehow gets more visable in pictures.

Some more pictures. Same ReShade setting, better shader with Retroarch.
Looks horrible zoomed in, does imgur compress pictures?

I have a question about this. I have downloaded waifu and tried it on some backgrounds. But it seems to look better then on the pictures in this thread. Why is it, is it the game that changes the quality? I get this result -

Just to show something I did too epsxe. This is all taken from the same setting so it works nice with any game.

I like the game to be more consistant. Having those detailed models against the lowres backgrounds is not something that I like. Beside that I mostly play other games on epsxe. After finnishing FFVII god know how many times since 1997 Iam kinda fed up with it now. I prefer FFIX if you take away the nostalgia from VII :)

I did a bit of changes. About the text, yeah it can look worse with these settings. Not as much from the lightning filtering as from the smoothening filtering. It's readable but not good.

Well, it's kinda as far as possible away from the original I want so..

General Discussion / Final Fantasy VII ReShade FX PSone

Just thought I should show you this. It's my preset for FFVII thru epsxe with ReShade. The color modifications may not be something for everybody, but it's easy to change to the original colors.

I don't think they've given up, progress is just kind of slow paced at the moment. Which I completely understand, I would be fatigued too if I was a modder and I hear that the game I've been modding for years, is finally getting an official remake.

But I think at this point most people have realized that Square Enix won't be making the exact remake we're all hoping for, so mods for the original game will remain relevant after all.

Yeah Square is remaking it. But I also want a hd version of the original and that seems like Square never will do so I trust Avalanche will finnish it, sometime :)

38
That's probably impossible, since even the best filtering algorhythm will never be able to bring back detail that simply isn't there due to the low resolution the images were rendered in. There is a reason after all that the 'Team Avalanche' Project is rebuilding all those scenes in 3D to re-render them. ;)

I thought they gave up when the remake were announced? Its good if they havent. Altough it feels lile that project can take years before getting finnished. If i won the lottery i would pay them to finnish it now.

Ok, thank you. I'am looking forward to this. Pherhaps it can look even better with reshades sharpening effect. I wonder if we one day will have filters good enough to make old pre-renders look as good as it would in 1080. Probably not... :(

Hello.
I just registered to write in this topic. The last pic that says you used N1 filtered waifu 4x + some gimp filter looks really good. I'am just wondering will all backgrounds get that treatment? And if so how long will it take before this is done? Also, is it possible to see some more pictures from that filtering? It looks really good can't wait to play it like that with reshade and maybe a high resolution, if that would do any good. Good luck!
/Mike
