General Discussion / useless link (and pic) of the day
« on: 2001-11-23 00:36:00 »
This was on The Madman's cafe-most of you have prolly seen it, but for those that haven't, there's a pic floating about with Yuffie and Squall.  It's a guest appearance in Kindom Hearts-kinda weird, shows Squall at 25, very Laguna-like.

here's the link.

General Discussion / programming???
« on: 2001-08-31 18:42:00 »
Okay, so since I got canned last month, I've went back to my (previous) and whoop-de-doo, it still sucks.  So I've went back to school (community college, so I can take night courses) and I'm out for something.  Not quite sure what I'll do yet, but something related to computers.  Now here's the rub.

Since I had to take some prerequisite courses before I could dive into the 'meat' of what (I think) I'll need, I had an extra class I could take to fill things up.  Soooo, I took one in BASIC programming.  So far, it's pretty cool, and I'd think I'd like to take some more programming classes in the future.  So here's my question:

If I do go farther than this with it, where should I go next?  C?  Java?  Are they all pretty much related on most of the basic concepts?  I know you can't decide for me, but I'd just like some of your opinions...

General Discussion / Good Deals...
« on: 2001-07-31 22:47:00 »
My company has decided that our remote location is no longer necessary, so as of today I am unofficially unemployed!  (Who-hoo!)  Since our branch is located in Virginia, and our home office is located in Texas (for those of you overseas, a heck of  a long way) they have let us buy up a lot of old PC's and other junk.  That got me to thinking-how about the rest of you?  What kind of deals have_you_been able to scarf up?  And it doesn't have to be PC related, maybe car, or music, or whatever.  Anyways, here's an abbreviated version of what I'm taking home today:

PC, Pentium 166, 2G hd, 16mb ram
3 PC's, Pentium 233, 2g HD, 32mb ram
2 PC's, Pentium II 350, 6G HD, 64 MB ram
1 PC, Pentium III 500, 6G HD, 64 MB ram

4 ethernet hubs, 5 and 10 port.

A ton of software, NT sever 4.0, SQL server 7, Windows NT workstation, ArcServe IT, Office 2000 professional and more.

The total price?  $100 bucks.  The company is just too cheap to want to pay for shipping.  :D
