Not to sound completely clueless... But what do you mean by my process? :oops:

I mean up-scaling, I'm trying to practise with things, not just these mods.
I'm doing it via software called "Perfect Resize" but there a few options. Just wanted to know what you had done in the past and such. I'm just trying to understand it all.

As I'm currently roaming Ultimecia's Castle, I've been up-scaling the different areas. (Obviously not sure if anyone else is working on this area.)

Anyways, while doing that - I'm trying to implement these back into the game using Berry mapper just to see if I can't add textures as well. I'm collecting all the images that Debug Mode throws out for me, but I can't quite figure it out to do it correctly?

Little advice anyone?

Excellent! I'm coming up to the end of the game, so I'll be sure to fly around to place and check it out.

EDIT: Just been on the Balamb continent to test, but the new textures aren't loading for me.
EDIT 2: Scratch that, it's working.

I'm coming to the end off the game now and I don't think the hard mod have ever been working for me.

At first I thought because I kept my level low but managed to still make my characters juntioned with good magic that I was still to powerful, making the game still easy due to the bosses etc still being low levels. However, I've just thought Fujin, Tajin and Seifer on the Pandora with my main 3 characters all lvl 100, and they're attacks are absolutely nothing. Most of their attacks have been in the 2-3 digits, sometimes are some 4 figure damage attacks, however, they are in the low 4 digits and pose no threats. I don't recall it ever being this easy before.

Also, the HP mod doesn't work for me at all.

Huh. Couldn't recreate it or the Deling City part. So, I've updated the v1.1 link for you to try out. I've updated the hashmap and a few texture tweaks. If it fixes any of your problems, please let me know.

That's strange. Could be something else interfering. Sometime, Triple Triad will revert to its original state and the same with the 'world map' map.

Ah, okay! Thanks for the video! Ill try that combination right now in that spot. Also, do you remember what instrument Selphie was using in that concert scene? I have a hunch it could involve that.

I should also ask if you're still using the objmap. Because if you are, that alone causes a lot of disappearing textures. If not, maybe I've corrected a few things lately that I've been working on without knowing.

And no, I'm not using any of them. I remember reading here to delete them before I even started playing.

I do have a clip in deling city, but I need to compress it first.

The prison, it was soon as you were free of your prison cell. I'm way past that now though.

In dealing. It was literally each time you left the house. Inside the mansion she would be there but when you start following General Caraway so he can show you the route Eden takes in her parade, she doesn't show up until you reach the clock tower under passage. Then you go back to the mansion and the scene where Quistis has a go at Rinoa, she there, but as soon as you leave the house to get into position, she disappears again until you reach the clock again. Once youre locked in the house and find the secret passage, she's dissappear as soon as you go down the ladder underground for the entire time. I might have a clip of this. I'll check when I'm home.

I wouldn't mind a new battle system (called "Modern" mode or something similar) in the style similar to FFXV or FFXIII, but I would like to be able to switch to other characters at any time to control. The characters that are being controlled by the AI, fall into the style specific to them such as Tifa acrobatically applying various basic melee attacks by jumping off of walls, etc - using her environment. The style of the attack when the player selects it, would also be randomised the same way the game decides the style of the attack for the AI. In conjunction with that, players could set commands for the AI characters to give them specific roles just like in FFXII. Also maybe the ability to swap out characters like in FFX and make battles more tactical to take advantage of this feature.

With that, if people didn't want to play a modern battle mode, then there could be a "Classic/Original" mode option where the battle system is like-for-like of the original and there would obviously be an option to switch between Classic and Modern when selecting a new game or changing between the two in-game. Faithful and modernised at the same time, suiting everyone's taste.

I also thought of how some of the mechanics of battles system could work.

The battle mechanics in terms of characters intelligence. With a foe that is susceptible to more physical damage from being attacked from behind, the higher INT an AI controlled character has, the more likely they are to jockey into a position to try and exploit such a weakness. You'd obviously tie it to the foe's INT, to be more aware of its weakness and position themselves where the weakness can't be exploited. The same could apply to a players accuracy, from outright missing the foe, to causing critical hit. Again tied into the foe's agility, the foe could could just dodge the attack like a boss.

I think this would give battles a very natural flow and create a realistic visual representation of the party's stats and a clear visual growth of the characters through out the game, getting, stronger, faster, more intelligent etc. Just like you might see of a player in a sports game.

I've put too much thought into this, as you can tell.

There appears to be an issue with Selphie. Now and again her texture will not load as displayed here for example.



I've also encountered this in Deling City, when everytime I left General Cararway's Mansion, she would dissapear.

The other place it has occurred from me was in the prison district, but it didn't happen for long.

Thought I'd mention this now as it is becoming some-what regular.

Don't what has caused the issue, but I got to the part where Rinoa explains the train mission to you and parts of the wording is replaced with the assigned button symbol. I thought I took a screenshot but it looks like I didn't.

To add to the great work of the Roses & Wine mod - I've mixed/edited and looped most of the soundtrack using remasters and covers from off the internet (YouTube).
This includes different versions of some of the tracks used in the RaW mod.
Also, some tracks have more than one version.
Consider this, as you will, an add-on pack of sorts.
All is optional.

2. If you're bothered, back up original tracks in "...Final Fantasy VIII\Data\OGG" by renaming to "filenameBAK.ogg" or however you like doing it.

4. Play
5. Enjoy


I would really appreciate feedback on this. I wasn't able to test everywhere in the game.

Yup. Im trying to find the right medium between them all. Some of them are not working well. Might switch  to a different method and experiment more.

I like the cartoony feel, and while these are good cosplays, I feel like Zell's teeth are sticking out too much.

I agree. The photo when enlarged doesn't look so bad. Implemented into the gamethough, it does looks bad.
I have changed him now.

Something I've just been working on the last day or so.

FF7 had plenty of options for this and I've felt FF8 deserved some of the same attention.

It is a working process at the moment, but here's where I am at as of today.



Laguna


As you can probably tell, the images are of real people cosplaying who I thought had done a fantasic job and that it would be a good idea to implement them into the game. At the moment its the case that I'm still tinkering with effects, make them more colourful and consistent with each other.

I'm pretty content with Squall, Quistis, Irvine and Selfie barring little tweaks.

Issues
a). I need to correct Edea's skin tone.
b). Right now looking at Zell's image makes me want to punch him (His teeth annoy me), needs to be changed, possibly through a different image)
c). I'm not really satisfied with how Rinoa's or Seifer's look at the moment.
d). Laguna is done, but struggling to find any decent images of Kiros and Ward cosplays, So may need to resort to alternative art, which will bug me.

Implemented different pictures for a few of the characters. No more looking at Zell's teeth.

Would love to know what you guys think and any ideas you may have or if you know of any good source to work from or even any ideas what to call this little project. That would be much appreciated.

The backgrounds I posted are a work in progress - but I guess I could post it as a WIP since I now have a lot more on my plate than before....

Ah right. Well that explains it then. I won't deny that it would be good to implement what you have so far(mainly being that staring at pixelated backgrounds is offending my eyes), but of course it's up to you -I don't mind. I suppose you'll need someone other than yourself to see if they all working for other smoothly?

Anyways, everything is good and running perfect with all the other mods, except my battle rendered background look like this...




Any changes i've made have not effected anything else, yet I seem anything I do doesn't sort this out.

It this an issue relating to GeDoSaTo or possibly the Horizon Eden mod? I did leave a message on your youtube but though I might catch a response here quicker.

I don't know if anyone else is has this issue but some of the textures are playing up. I'm not sure if this is an issue where I've gone wrong somewhere or otherwise. I've screenshot them for you.



The textures on the hexagons are either missing or out of place.




These two, the textures dont appear to be aligned.
