FF7 Tools / Re: [REL] LGP Frontend v1.2
« on: 2011-04-12 19:40:11 »
whats with all the C# hate?
Everyone i have talked to(hiring directors and high up programmers) are saying that c# and .NET are quickly becoming the standard, as well as ASP. If you know c#, its not necessary to know c++ because the .NET compiler can interpret different languages to produce the same package(for the most part). Also, it's similarities to C++ and Java are quite close, as well as VB, so if you learn C# your in a great position to learn other closely related languages. Of course the reverse applies as well, but C# is easily accessible to newer programmers like myself and Wutai since the syntax does not appear as archaic.

*edited for presumptions, sorry!*

very nice, i was actually contemplating creating a similar app to get accustomed to C# as well. Looks like you beat me to the punch! If you okay with it, i would like to take a peek at your source code, i have just gotten into coding and it would be nice to see some working examples that i can actually wrap my head around.

too bad i am still a ways off in my programming classes, i wouldn't even know where to begin. Started self-teaching myself C# while im in a VB class right now. Fortunately they somewhat similar, my next class is in Java programming. Maybe i can take a crack at it in a year if it hasn't been done by then, lol.

be prepared to see more taxes like this as states struggle to balance their books(without any pay cuts for officials mind you). One that really strikes me is that smoking was made illegal in Saint Louis City if you own a bar with 50% or more profit from food. However, casinos are exempt from this law, and any business owner who wishes to allow smoking can pay a huge amount for a "smoking permit".

Something that used to be free is now being charged for.

just did a fresh install of FF7 and finally got to use this ingame and I am super impressed! Anyone who hasn't tried it out yet should, it is simply beautiful! Now if only we could increase the draw distance of the world map and implement some kind of fog....

absolutely stunning! I cannot wait to play FF7 with your new world map.

i agree with corvarrs suggestion for text only sigs...makes it easy to link members of from the same projects, as well as listing projects you have worked on. It makes it easy to find more work from a particular author if you like their style. Of course this could be easily negated with a better search function.....

still looking good! a good UV and textures will mask any blockiness that the reduction introduced. As someone else asked, will you be doing the jet powered version as well?

59
i agree a move convincing skybox would be cool, but i would be happy with an increase in the draw distance of the current world map. right now things  don't pop into view until your nearly on top of them. not sure if it is even feasible to do this though, i have no idea of the mechanics behind the world map.

looks good so far, hopefully we can finally get one ingame! Two questions, can you make good UV maps and how many faces is it?

The biggest pain in the ass - animated shore and sea is finely done Т_Т

that was about the time i gave up on finishing, lol. Alberto contributed them in his short time here, and i never bothered to redo them. You working is simply amazing, now i wish i hadn't wasted 6 months working on my version of this, though this is a totally different style.

wow! I'm really liking your take on the world map! i was wondering when someone would give it another go, but i didn't expect such great results. Be grateful that Aali changed the way textures are injected, it was a serious PITA when i redid it the first time. Most of my time was spent hex-editing and creating injector textures, which is probably part of the reason it is still 85% finished.

i like them, they almost look like watercolor paintings. What was your source material?

Completely Unrelated / Re: Who has played Crimson Echoes?
« on: 2011-02-05 14:41:42 »
there were actually button press codes for goldeneye that were not released until nearly a decade after the game came out. They used the yellow arrow buttons, so i assume if you can find the code, that is what they are referring too.

How is it so far? I downloaded it but have yet to really get into it. I HATE the beginnings of RPGs because equipment is crap, and your usually suffering for at leas 2 hours before any real meat begins to appear.

67
awesome! I can't wait until it is final finished, i've been anticipating the combined version of this forever! I assume the compatibility with 9999-breaks will be fixed?

68
no programs such as that exists, FF7 is not really "modular" in that aspect. A program could be made, but it would require alot of coding to open LGPs and remove/replace things...and it wouldn't really be worth the trouble.

Most of us find a set of mods we enjoy and stick to that. If FF7 directory gets messy, backup your save files, delete FF7, and reinstall. The mods i am currently using and the order i installed in:

1-Hardcore  Mod
2-Battle Interface Mod
3-Menu Mod
4-Team Avalanche Overhaul *Beta 9*
5-Team Avalance GUI *whatever the new version is*

My FF7 directory is still tidy, the worst thing you can do is install a bunch of different mods all willy nilly without taking into account the mess it will be likely to cause.

With the newest advances in the OpenGL driver, most graphical mods will be very simple to install in the future. You will simply place a folder in your mods directory and all will be well. The functionality is there right now, but we have yet to really take advantage of it.

lee

*edit* almost forgot, if your having too much trouble, download the newest FF7 Remix patcher. It contains the most popular mods all in one installer. I've never tried it but most seem to have success with it.

69
in respone to your last question about the target indicators, it is just a button you hit on the controller IIRC, but dont remember which button it is exactly

70
definitely need an influx of some new talent around here, most of us old timers have had our lives change quite a bit from when we started. The ground work and plans are all in place, we just need folks willing to contribute!

not sure if this is related to the driver or not, but i have been having issues with the game hanging after my entire party dies. Once the last member expires, it says game over and the screen fades to black, but never shows the game over screen or returns me to the main menu. The only way to fix it is to manually kill the FF7.exe application via CTRL-ALT-DEL.

As far as the new version goes, the improved texture loading is awesome! I couldn't use any texture packs with the older versions because of horrendous load times, but now all is well (Intel GMA graphics)

General Discussion / Re: FFVII for iPod/iPhone...
« on: 2011-01-28 18:33:39 »
you would be better off figuring out how to emulate the PC version of the game on the iphone, rather than trying to recreate the entire thing. Emulating the PC game on the iphone would be a ton of work, but not even close to the amount required to build the game from the ground up.

school, and serious home issues have halted pretty much any work i can do ATM...been nearly a year since i completed anything of actual weight...

i just skip this portion of the game until the last battle, then i get pheonix ;) none of the rewards seem good enough to waste 20 minutes slogging through a super-slow motion RTS type minigame. Or if i do i dont buy any units and let the general reach the top.
