Perfect, except for saving, where I must press F4 each time I want to save. But well, ePSXe 1.01 saving mechanism is still buggy.

F4 to save, hmm?

I'm about to start playing FF9 on ePSXe, once I finish downloading disc 1 (18 hours left, that is, if it doesn't stop while I'm at school now) and burn it. I have 400 mhz and no 3D card but I think I'll be able to get a decent experience with Kazuyya's (however you spell it) software rendering plug-in.

Oh yeah whats the best SPU plug-in to use?

Either Pete Midas SPU or ePSXe SPU core are the working ones. Well, I still prefer of palying with VGS because of their speed. ePSXe is just too fast or too slow, never get the speed right.

Kool!

I found a BIOS, are they all the same? Does it matter which one I have?

Also where did you get the DirectX7 Plug in from coz I seem to have a directX6 one?

Ta.

Oh yeah I got another question.

Whats the actual game speed like (Skillster) because surely as there is no install disc the game is running from the CD's the whole time, so does that make it slow-ish or not?

Doh! I think i need SCHP1001 what BIOS does every1 else have?

Get plugins from http://www.psxemu.com" TARGET=_blank>www.psxemu.com
SCPH1001 is the bios I use and it seems to be OK.

It is slow running off CD, so use a CD emulator like Daemon Tools to run it off your hard drive instead. That improved performance noticeably for me.

Also, to save I had to force the game to use PAL timing (dunno why, considering it's the NTSC release).

Alright. I downloaded an image for FF9 Disc 1. This image is in .BIN form and is cracked for CD duplication. Whoever cracked it put some header on it, so that when you start the game, it has a little logo and a message that says who cracked it and "Press any button to begin game." I press a button, the emulator crashes. Talked to someone about it, he says it works fine on a real PSX. I tried it with more than one graphics plug-in, they all crash (some report an "Illegal Operation" and some just go away though).

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this? I might need an un-cracked image.

*Gulp*
I hpoe this dont mean that the copied ff9 that I bought wont work when i get it on sat.
But then again ePSXe say copied games should work, its probably due to the fact its got that thing at the beggining (i hope)

The guy who cracked it? You mean the guy called Wayne and there is the word KALISTO there? That one? THAT will come out even if you use CDs or buy the original, right? (I'm not sure) Ok, if there is any problems of FF9 with the real PSX, press circle at the kalisto thing if you are using an old TV. (That's what the shopkeeper told me when I returned the CDs when it didin't work on my emu :D) And, Aaron, your version might be ver1.00 and not 1.01. Try using Pete's Direct3D Plugins. it worked for me.

I tried FFIX on ePSXe earlyer and it runs like crap. Crap sound, crap pre rendered backgrounds, ok FMV and the characters and battles for some reason also look crap. And the great thing is? It crashes when I use my TV-out!
Im waiting till I can borrow my bros psx again or a pc port comes out before playing this again.

I'm using ePSXe 1.01, yes.

can't use Direct3D - my vid card isn't Direct3D compatible (laptop) so I have to use software rendering.

The Kalisto thing is only for cracked versions.

Ant: You can run ISo files with Daemon Tools. ePSXe also have their own ISO plug-ins but Daemon is more compatible.

Sir Canealot: ePSXe sure have crap sound. And also to press F4 before saving sucks. The best thing is graphics though, very good.

Doesn't work in software rendering mode, shoot.
I'd LOVE a copy of CVGS if anyone could tell me where to get it (having to pay for emulators is evil) or e-mail [email removed] (ISO of the CD?... come on...)
Sorry... I'm just mad... I BOUGHT FF9 to use in ePSXe but it doesn't work without a 3D card (well it does but is not playable, missing menus and freezing).

WOAH IT WORKS.

Running off CD with Knack's Software Rendering program (AWESOME fast for Software Rendering)

Uh... can't get the memory cards to work, it always says it can't read from it, or there's no card there, any ideas?

Press F4 before you save/loading to/from memory cards.
