I re-installed FF7 through steam and decided to try some texture and model mods via the 7thHeaven mod launcher, but upon starting the game, the screen is black, and a message saying "Postprocessing initialization failed" comes up and the game either crashes, or playes the developer logos then crashes.

Turning off postprocessing in the gl settings changes the error message on launch to "Oops, something very bad happened".

So far, I've double checked to make sure the workshop -> settings paths are all correct, tried using the game converter again, and made sure my load order was up to standards, but no changes so far in the game's behavior

I've tried to search for the error, but found nothing conclusive, or anything that matches my problem. Any insight would be great, thank you! And let me know if you need more details.

If you're using v1.55, then read the FAQ about it: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=16538.0

If v1.55 is not the issue, then post the APP.log and Profile Details. Also copy/paste the paths you have in Workshop -> Settings.

I just redownloaded 7thHeaven today, so which ever version that is is the one I'm using. I think its 1.54, I could be wrong.

Here is a link to the APP log - http://pastebin.com/ytijT8GM

And here is a link to the profile details - http://pastebin.com/mvJAHRee

[00000000] INFO: Intel Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 4.2.0 - Build 10.18.10.3540

Do you have a dedicated GPU?

Yes - I just tried using the NVIDIA Control Center to set 7thHeaven to run with the dedicated card, but the same results occur as if it were not being ran with the NVIDIA card.

Here is the new APP log when doing this - http://pastebin.com/G8wWrtt4

Could it be a problem where FF7 is installed? I bought it through Steam and when running the game converter, It moved it from the steamapps/common folder to the C:/Games folder.

EDIT: Yeah disregard that stuff, I set 7thHeaven to run with the NVIDIA card instead of FF7. Now FF7.exe runs via the NVIDIA card, and the post processing failed error no longer occurs, and the game just crashes after the credits start with the "Oops, something very bad happened" error. Note that the credits will play, but any key press will crash the game.

More fiddling, but the same thing occurs - movies play up until the main menu, but the game will crash if any key is pressed.

Here is the APP log, which I think is the same as before - http://pastebin.com/bArjEhL2

I had tried using 7thHeaven to mod FF7 a while back, and it worked at some point, but I can't remember how or if the errors I had were the same. This was about a year ago. At one point my computer wiped itself including many files, but it is possible some junk files still remained. Should I just wipe the slate clean, delete all FF7 and 7thHeaven related files, and do a totally fresh install?

FAQ: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=16538.0

It's probably related to question 3. There are lots of posts about that issue the last 2 pages.
