Notice to all Qhimm users
« on: 2010-11-21 15:38:02 »
As you may have (or not) noticed, I have been battling a user that seems hell bent on spamming cracks all over the forums for most of the morning. He has been hiding behind multiple proxies so banning is fairly pointless. So as of right now new accounts are set to admin approve. Hopefully i will have a solution to the problem shortly. Also please disregard the mass PM he sent out. It may have a virus in it.

Tell Qhimm to install a mod that prevents people sighing up using proxies! Seems like a must nowadays.

Thanks SL for battling that crackhead for us.

Professional Troll. I wonder if it's someone we've seen before..?

Or possibly even someone who's currently a member? It's happened before.

Ah fantastic.   I haven't received any PMs so my guess is he's someone completely new.

Possible, but unlikely. Could be a former member as well. Too many proxies to be sure, but i have suspicions.

Well it seems to be working so far. 12 users signed up that are unable to follow basic instructions. Dont think we will miss these people.

Thanks, is there a term for someone with a wikipedia phobia?

Nope. You'll need to overcome that phobia if you ever want to learn anything. Here I'll copy and paste the first line of the article for you:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Basically, a troll just tries to get attention from a given community by posting something scandalous, shocking, annoying, stupid, or otherwise emotion-invoking.

Mendelevium never was a troll.  He just had way too many identities for one person, that's all :P

EDIT: Forget it, he can't spell "deceived" correctly.  He must be a troll >:(

o_o, oh yes, yes. If the definition of troll is "someone who has poor grammatical sense."
Then I am definitely one. ^_^.

Yup, but i have approved 5 or 6 accounts of people smart enough to read. The rest are either spambots or dumb people.
