I have 2 problems:
1st FF7-PRP requires CD was in cd-rom
2nd When i copied CHAR.lgp in field folder,and replaced old CHAR file.and tried play without,i saw that Cloud(and some other NPC)model is BROKEN,when he standing,and normal when he moving.
Is it OK?

WHAT???? How dare you use this topic to get a stab in at crisis core it's a great game granted it isn't the epic rpg that ff7 was but it isn't supposed to be. No-one in their right mind should have expected "another FF7" 'cos let's face it there is never going to be a game that affects it's audience in such a way again. YES advent children sucked and DoC was lame but crisis core for me was a very enjoyable experience in that it fills in the blanks left behind in 7.
Also instead of ignoring what people want (which is to see the sword on his back i mean this mod is to make the game look more realistic if you cant see the sword on his back then where is it??? if you ask me cid should always be seen with his pole on his back) you should give the option of having the sword on his back somehow. Not to dictate how to do what your doing i mean i love your work frankly if i werent so busy at colllege i'd love to help lol. But yes the option to carry the sword would probably please both sides. But ofcourse this is just a suggestion.

I have joined the PRP so ice will have some more help. As far as the sword on tck thng, i agree it does give it a more realisic appearance, then again classic style = no sword. I like both , but my job is modeling LOL so i think ppl should just be happy that ppl are willing to work hard to make a patch like this and stop complaining. Thats just my personal opinion, i dont mean to insult anyone. Just sayin to be happy with what your getting.
The problem of having Cloud with a sword on his back all the time is that he'll have two swords whenever he draws it outside of a battle. For example, in the Battle Square at Gold Saucer or right before the cutscene where Sephiroth stabs Aeris.

When I went in to save Aeris and Barret blasted the holding tank thing, it never stopped glowing so I couldn't see where the materia was in the tank.

May anyone help me in repack the Save model? And the Material too. I don't like them much. The Save model is some how ugly and amateur-like, and the Material is known to have a lot of bug (it does when you run in software mode and you can't see a thing) Actually the old and original ones is great. Your save icon may look greater if it doesn't have a logo spinning on the top, lol.
I have tried to pack the old data in original char.lpg to your 00.lgp, as mentioned in your release

I still don't get much those packing-thing. So someone can help me change the material icons back to the original ones, and either change back the save icon or take the logo on the top out?
The first patch he released before the bug fix had a save point without the logo on top. I was able to patch that one into the new version, myself. That's not really something I want to release though, but if ice_cold says it's cool, then it's cool. Otherwise, I'd feel like I'm ripping his signature off his work and I'm not going to do that.
As for the materia, and the revelation now that Vincent is messed up as well, it comes down to ".a" files, which are animation files. At least I'm presuming. Which one animated the materia though I have no clue, but I wish I could figure that out and change it to something that works. Vincent's problem might be beyond lower skill level in this though. I hope not, I really hate bugs.
I think is useless for now to post bugs, because i think icecold must use the standard configuration. The problem is for that and for the modded exe. All the paths in the exe are changed and most of them are bad modified.
Just wondering if we can get screens. Not entirely convinced what this patch does is what I want. I could try it out, but I figure it'd be much easier to post a couple of pictures to help everyone else out and get this project off of the ground.

Just encountered a few graphics errors during the whole Diamond Weapon event in Disc 2 yesterday. Here's one of 'em:
Occurs during the buildup to the Cannon firing, when everyone's still on the Bridge.
There's another one before that, when Diamond is moving towards midgar. The World map is missing textures all over the place. There was one really bad spot when I tried it the other day, with entire landmasses acting as if they'd got Hidden Surface Removal'd.
Later on, when you're trying to get to Hojo, the entire screen, 2D background and all, was totally corrupt, and other 2D artifacts started appearing (improper colors, random border lines around the experience gauges and text boxes, etc.)
I haven't had these errors happen to me when I replayed the scene today, so I don't know if it's from the PRP patch or if my video card started screwing up randomly....
i didnt have any of these problems when i played thru it, sounds like a end user setup problem, i hope ur video card isnt going out.

Hey this is a great mod but one problem with it, when i press the menu button it crashes. Is there a fix for it?change to windows 95 compatibility! Plays fine after that simple move Right click FF7-PRP blue flame thing and pick the third tab [compatibity] check windwos 95 box and this sucker runs perfect

You know that you can still buy Starcraft? Not just the cdkey, Starcraft with a box and everything inside it. And it's about as old as FF7. But hey, you can also download it! I think that I've seen a site with links to download GTA IV. It's a torrent, but hey, if the site is still up, and it has been for few years, that means it's ok with the game companies! Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped in making this mod, characters look fantastic, had a bit of a difficult time getting this to run with the ultima edition, then when it did it would crash during the first guard fight, but looking through the posts it seems running the WIN95 computability mode helped that.
Had one question though that I cant see an answer to in the posts, is this mod also supposed to make the characters look new and awesome during the battles cos as I have it installed they look great running around and such but you get into a fight and they do not look as good?

Is your monitor a wide screen ? Maybe you're just not in your native mode. If your native mode is wide screen and you use a 4:3 mode then the image might be stretched. In that case you might be able to fix this in your graphic card settings (flat panel scaling for NVIDIA's cards... don't know about ATI's) just set it to :"use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio".

These errors mean that animation files can not be found..If you'll get these error ONCE,You must restart Kimera :evil: because next model that you'll load will be broken(as we see on the screenshot that you made).Kimera is not perfect program :|

It's easy to use this with Aali's driver, or just without the launcher in general. Just rename the 00.lgp and the 01.lgp in the prp folder to char.lgp and world_us.lgp and put them in the correct data folders. it's real easy just experiment with it.

I was working on getting corneo working in game
edit: I think you'll have to use the lgp tools method to create tex files that work in game.
You'll have trouble with Corneo mouth texture,becouse i changed it.Eyes must not make any troubles because i take them from Palmel without any change.

I've also notice that face textures on some models(Barret in particular) are set to 25% opacity.

I did find a post by Qhimm from 2004 where he clearly figured out the battle format and had the models in 3DSMax. Mirex' Biturn can open them (though not correctly)and convert them, but I can't get blender to work properly so I'm unsure if they are exported correctly

There are some that are still missing, but I'd say I'm 90% done. The other 10 will come from Koral implementing the few missing Crisis Core enemies into Rinoa, and me going back through the FFVIII and FFX enemies to double check if any can be swapped with some of the more obscure FFVII enemies. I'll also need to run through Dissidia.
Note: the ones highlighted in red are VERY debatable. Since everyone and their mother already has the KH models, I don't see any reason to list them
RINOA v5.1 only support bare FF8 field models (minus texture-maps and skeleton), v6.0 (not released yet) shows these field models all properly (with guesstimate skeletons for most models) and glitchy Battle models.
I am working on it, but very very very slowly.
I haven't been able to confirm if the older CC-Model-Viewer shows anything different which RINOA doesnt, because I had made extensive changes so RINOA was more compatible with the CC files and didn't crash all the time.

What if I don't have the disc anymore but the program is still in my computer? My friend said I might be able to 'trick' this thing into thinking I have the disc by putting whatever are the contents of disc 1, 2, or 3 into another disc...Sounds downloaded to me...

That could be a lot of things. Does the game work without the PRP patch installed? And are you using Aali's custom graphics driver (which fixes a lot of crash issues)?
jamers: are you trying to run it from the ffvii.exe or the prp.exe? It should run either way, but I personally could never run the prp from the prp.exe.
If the game runs normally without the prp, then it should run with the prp lgps renamed. if you rename the files and put them into the proper location(vista needs an admin) and run the ffvii.exe the prp has no troubles.

Just downloaded and thought I'd try out this mod, only problem is my original CD has been damaged beyond being able to run the game (having it for over 10 years you can expect this). A long time ago I made an ISO of the CD just incase of this happening and have been using that for reinstalling and such since, however it would not run the game without a no-cd crack. The problem I ran into with testing this mod is the fact that the no-cd patches won't work with it and it won't read from the ISO or a burned copy when playing the game. Any way that I can get around this with PRP? I'd love to check it out.

Going to try a clean reinstall with just PRP and Aali's drivers, see if that doesn't help.
NPC reconstruction patch uses battle models as field models.

I find Clouds Standing animation with his arms out very wide. Weird haha. as well as Wedge's and probably other people as well.
These models aren't good at all! The originals are so much better, these new models look so weird compared to everything else and when you run into non updated NPC's you stand out like a sore thumb! NO NO NO NO....

And hopefully the people at Mideel, Wutai and Bone Village will get the PRP treatment too...since the Midgar people did get some except at Aerith/s ( Sector 6 or at the Wallmarket..perhaps?)

The point of this project was to put battle models to field no?
Sounds like a big update...but I think I prefer the Cloud model from the last release. I tried extracting the contents from this new char.lgp, replaced "aaaa.hrc" with the one from the 0.6 RP, and created a new LGP...but it's still the Cloud from the new release. Is there anyway I could keep just the Cloud field model from the old release while still getting all the models from this new release?

the easiest way for you to do it is extract both char to diff folders (ex: char1{1st realease} char2{2nd realease}) open the cloud from the 1st realease in kimera (aaaa.hrc) now save it to a totally diff foler (ex: cloud) now open your cloud and char2 folder then move all the items in the cloud folder to the char2 one then it should replace the new model with the older one now just use your lpg tools to make your new char file and play and enjoy

Thats why all new models that i made was fitted to original skeleton to evade animation problems like this.(Models that were made by old team really had skeleton changes).All models i tested by myself and i not found any glitches with this.Bring the screens if i missed something.

I don't know if this is PRP's fault or the OpenGL drivers fault, but Hojo in my game does some pretty weird stuff. As seen in the screenshot below Hojo keeps bending over 180 degrees.

Sorry if it was explained earlier, but what exactly is the point of taking away the shading in the original models? I understand the recolor, and like the shape, but for recoloring, should you recolor each vertex relatively, rahter than just recoloring the entire object? (i assume individual vertex coloring is possible)Actually there is NO point of this.
Anyway, I think the idea behind this movement was remove the inconstencies in shading caused by the baked lighting. Personally, I prefer to keep it though.

Thanks for the correction ice_cold. I never had luck with the prp.exe, so I never knew that the mini games & menu had been moddified.
the laptop patch does not seem to work with prp, it does work the original executable though. Anyone know how I can solve this?
wouldn't you have to open up worldus.lpg instead of chocobo.lpg or field.lpg from memory field is 00 and chocobo is 01 just saying

The flashing materia will be fixed on the next release. I'm also planning to make the installer myself so it will be totally user friendly.. in fact I intand to do it so that the user won't even have to do anything all will be done automatically. I didn't talk to ice cold about it yet but I don't think he would mind.
PRP doesn't really require much of any modeling knowledge... just Kimera knowledge. But with everyone making higher poly count models that are nicely textured... it makes me wonder if this project may as well be halted

Those other models they don't fit, at all. They look silly to be honest. Let's look at it the other way around, ridiculously amazing pre-rendered backgrounds with lego looking models like the original. That wouldn't fit either. You're remaking one aspect of the entire game.
Honestly I would rather play with the lego looking ones than the injected Advent Children ones. And Advent Children sucks by the way.

Now I agree that this mod shouldn't be abandoned or forgotten, as it was pretty much *the* most arduous task taken up in terms of modding FF7 at the time. I feel like it's projects like this that put the idea in a lot of people's heads that things like the Team Avalanche Overhaul can be accomplished and I definitely don't approve of people down-talking it.
Also, you may not have implied this but I just wanted to clarify that none of the models in the Team Avalanche Overhaul adhere to advent children styles and never will (afaik), and yes the mod does only redo part of the game graphically, but it's still a WIP. Even if it never gets done, Team Avalanche intends to redo every low-res aspect of the game.

That was long before my time but that's the mod that replaced field models with the battle models correct? Is there anyway I could get a hold of that now? No offense to the artists but I prefer the way the battle models look to the PRP main characters.
Why wouldn't they remake it? It's their most popular and best selling game. It's going to happen.

Delete the lgp file that the old one made, and replace it with either the one off the install disc or a backup that you might have made, or just re-install the PRP or FF7Remix, and re-run the installer.

Howdy all...also new on here. Read this thread and trying to get the hi-res working.. Guess I'll spend a few more hours. As for those that think there will be a remake of 7...I suggest you do a bit of homework. Square and everyone else involved has said numerous times there will NOT be a remake of 7. While there have been little sneak peaks over the years of what it would be, or look like, they have stated over and over that they simply don't have the people or the time. The original ff7 crew are all working on other projects. Then, a step by step guide for those of us that don't have several hours just to play around trying to get it to work...would be great. I have a newer system with dual monitors (ff7 stock runs just fine on here) os: XP w/sp3 (32bit), 3.2 gigs memory, ATI HD3850 512meg GDDR3, and running DirectX 10 (yes, there is a great DX10 project for XP...), 18.5TB drive space (yeah, you read that right)
I think it would help (the step by step with links) many people that are trying to again fall in love with this game and want it to run and look it's absolute best.

Well i've been meaning to fix the last one for some time and i'm close to it but stopped after seeing what Team Avalanche is doingWhy'd you stop?? This is one of the best mods out here and if it continues it will make FF7 gaming much better. :-\

Ok... I am ready to install this, but on what page is the latest version?The latest is here in this page posted by ice_cold153. And I don't see why it won't work with the hardcore patch. Its best to try it yourself and just report or post if it doesn't work.

Is there a reason why the window was set to be transparent?
In all honesty that doesn't seem like an "Improvement" simply because anyone that had trouble reading some of the things before are going to have it worse off with this. Not saying many people with horrendous eyesight play FF7, just noting that the original slightly gradient blue contrasted perfectly with the white.
Just a thought.

take a picture or two showing us your data folder, set the game to run in windowed mode, and actually show us that it's running then. sorry to say but im a skeptical person, and unless you offer proofs i throw my BS Hammer at you good sir.

Did you select maximum install or standard install when you installed the game? Because my guess would be that the game is reading the char and flevel lpg files from somewhere other than the FF7 directory on your HDD.
It's bad if you want to use mods.

Copy your saves into a safe place, uninstall the game and then reinstall it, being sure to choose "maximum install". The game will then copy the "data" folder to your hard drive and you'll be able to modify the files therein.

wasn't there somewhere an official "it's over guys" ? At least I remember seeing something like that but i'm not sure anymorei also seem to recall this project being axed, at least by the original creators. That doesn't mean someone else can't take up control though, a good portion of characters are already finished, and as far as non-canon mods go, this one is my favorite. Only reason i don't use it is because the combination of improved models and original models makes for a somewhat schizophrenic visual style at times.
Well, I wish I could. But i can't coz I don't know anything about modelling. And I also don't have the resources to do so. I'm just an "ordinary" guy here. I only make comments, suggestions, and recommendations. Not the actual project itself. But I wish someone would volunteer, so that this kewl Mod will continue to improve and somehow be finished and will not be forgotten as time goes by.
What do you mean town? Do you mean outside midgar? Or Up until sector 6/7?
Though majority of the models do have painted shadows on them.Especially the Cloud and Co. model.

Thanks for the upload! But I have some questions...
1.) The pack also includes weapon models (e.g. Cloud - Sword (TEMP), Cloud - Soldier Helmet(TEMP), etc.)... Do I still have to put ALL models in char.lgp? (I thought weapons belong to battle.lgp?)
2.) What about the models contained in the subfolders \temp, \temp\0.ARCHIVES, \temp\1. PARTS and \temp\temp? Is there a reason for keeping them in a different folder? Shouldn't I use them?
3.) Nearly every model contains the file "aafe.a" in it's subfolder... If I'd copy all models to char.lgp, I would have to replace it again and again. Is there a difference between those aafe.a files?
4.) You wrote that these models are not finished. What does that mean? Do they just need some finishing touches to look "perfect" or do I have to expect graphical issues if I use them?

In order to get the PRP models into my regular .exe instead of whatever crap that installer was trying to do, I copied 00.LGP and 01.LGP, unpacked them, and sorted out all the contained files into the corresponding .lgp files from a regular install.
Would it be bad form for me to post these reorganized .lgps? Obviously I take no credit for the models (and whatever other modifications) contained therein, I just thought other people might like to have a char.lgp they could copy and paste into their own data folder rather than rely on the installer's cooperation.
Please advise.
Distributing LGP's is not allowed.
As I understand it once you have 01 and 00 lgps you can just save those on your HD and use them to reinstall PRP on a fresh ff7 build anytime. No need for the installer ever again, no?
...So I just always use 01.lgp and 00.lgp without unpacking them at all and simply changing the filenames.
I'm wary about just changing the filenames, because 00.lgp contains the contents of both char.lgp and chocobo.lgp, and 01.lgp contains almost all the others (except for battle.lgp, magic.lgp, flevel.lgp, and midi.lgp, I believe). This may not lead to any gameplay errors but it seems at least a little inefficient to me. Why have thousands of unneeded files in your char.lgp (though it's probably a negligible filesize concern -- like I said, just thinking about efficiency)?
The Remix does a tremendous job of sorting through the PRP models.
After looking at this I wasn't sure how I would even go about placing the files in their correct lgp counterparts... How did you do it?
I started looking into this in the first place because the Menu Overhaul Project seems to conflict, at least on my machine, with the Remix, so I installed all the mods included in the Remix individually. All the ones I wanted, anyway. I'm still a little hung up on specifically which weapon mods were used and where to find them.
Wouldn't it be easier to unpack the vanilla char.lgp into a folder 'char'.
Then unpack the 00.lgp into another folder 'prpchar'.
Then cut all the files in 'prpchar' and paste them into 'char' and choose SKIP for all files that already exist.
Then all the files left in 'prpchar' would correspond to files in the original char.lgp.
You still have to go through and load every model .hrc file left in 'prpchar' to make sure there aren't any missing parts.
Then just repeat the process for all the .lgp archives in 00.lgp and 01.lgp.

Can you just erase the polygons for Tifa and the Driver?Its not so easy. I can delete Tifa's & Driver's polygons, but i can't add whole new model of Tifa 'cause it consists of parts.
Then you could add the parts for two new models.
If you make the new models just slightly larger, they'd cover up any remaining pieces of Tifa and the Driver.
I guess I'll upload an obj file of this. We could then delete the chars in it, or even upgrade it. What do you guys think of it?I think that's what we need!
I figured out how to fix those broken Rebuilded models.Man, do you really need it? I already posted here that these models were fixed and tested by StickySock. Just wait a bit longer and you'll get all models.

I have to ask if you allow us to include these models directly in Bootleg, without requiring a separate download.Models now is free to use. Somekind of Installer would be great!

Send me a copy of your save game. I've included these models in the new Bootleg and I want to make sure I've corrected all the crashes.
I'm using my edited versions of these models and I have no crash when entering Don Cornio's mansion in Sector 7 nor when entering the Shin Ra building.
NOTE:
Wrestler 3 has no eyes.
The same fix I used for the original rebuilded model also works to correct the new model.

Also you may have noticed that prp have some models that aren't finished yet like some are still original field models but some time in the future there will (might) be a full model installer like what DPLB has mentioned.
i have a question...
i have alot of respect for someone that is willing to take their time to improve on this game, ff7 has alot of sentimental value to me, and to be able to take it and make it better is something i really can apriciate.
having said this, i have tried to install the prp many times and again, with all due respect to ice, its always real buggy with me.
all i want out of it is the models, so i tried the install shield, which worked, to look for the model files and integrate them into the .lgp file.
i got a setup file, install shield files, and data1, 2, and 3.cab.
im assuming the model lgps are in the .cabs, but when i try to extract them using the same method (uniextract) it gives me an error.
with permission, is there any way to get these models on my game without running the installer? i feel like im on the right track but im stuck...

I'm not sure what you mean by legit download. Did you buy the game in the store legit, but download the disc images off the internet anyway? That won't do, you have to make the images yourself. Even though ethically they may be pretty much the same, there's no way to ensure the download won't be messed up in some way, such as having mods already installed, being the Ultima Edition, or other changes.
If you rip it from discs you purchased, that's not downloading, that's ripping. It's perfectly acceptable, but try not to use the word download because that's not what it is and it'll just confuse people. Downloading means you get it from the internet.
Many of the model issues are fixed in current mods.
