Really nice to hear. I was one of these that thought it'd never come to PC because it never had a PC port unlike VII & VIII. So happy to hear I'm wrong.

The prerendered backgrounds seem kinda ugly compared to the models though, I'm not sure if it still is in 720p/1080p as my internet and PC are too slow for that. We have mods anyway.

If you want to disable a function you only have to write a # before it.

So it becomes like this?

# music_plugin =

My good comp broke, I'm using a laptop with integrated graphics and everything is working alright unless I alt+tab which the game sometimes can't handle, when I tried to use Satsuki's upscaled battle textures there was a  delay  before every battle but with the other two texture packs, Tifa's or the Re-Textured ones it worked fine. I think it might be that Satsuki's field textures have a 1080p or maybe even 2k resolution or something and this comp only runs at 1366x768 and that's what I set the internal resolution to as well. But yea it seems like everything runs fine with my integrated graphics then again i only play a little at a time.

When using the battle models there seems to be a little delay (although part of the GUI has already loaded), what mods are you using if any? When you got the mods for the first time you didn't get any errors, correct?

Thanks for the help anyway, 7th Heaven is really good so far even though I can't use field models (probably because of the crap graphics card). "Mods" like these show how much you guys love the game, I'm pretty sure Square Enix would be proud of you guys if they weren't against mods and fangames and things like that.

Also I heard you were going to redesign it or something? If so I wish you good luck :)

Well I put the oggs from the data/music folder (as it wouldn't load them since music\vgmstream was empty) and changed that in the cfg however it seems to play the music from the PSX version and I'd like the MIDI versions (yeahhh I know I'm probably the only person on Earth that wants them).

I'll probably just try to convert them.

Alright, here's ff7_opengl.cfg:

Quote
fullscreen = off

# mod directory
# subdirectroy of mods/ where textures will be loaded from
mod_path = Textures

# check your Nvidia/ATI/Intel control panel settings if this option doesn't seem to work
enable_vsync = off

# allow FF7 to use linear filtering for its textures
# some things look slightly better with this option on, but alot of textures just lose their detail
# only affects low-res textures, high-res replacements will still be filtered where appropriate
linear_filter = off

# plugin used to play music, VGMstream requires a set of looping .ogg files in the music/vgmstream folder.
# If no music plugin is loaded the game will play MIDI as usual but FF7Music will NOT work.
music_plugin =

## ENHANCEMENTS ##
## All the little extras that weren't part of the original game, default options include only trivial bug fixes.

# make all dialog boxes transparent, same effect as the transparent dialog boxes YAMP patch
transparent_dialogs = off

# include armor in magic defense calculation
mdef_fix = yes

# minigame fixes
snowboard_framerate=60
highway_framerate=30
coaster_framerate=60
battleswirl_framerate=60

# post-processing shader, used to apply fullscreen effects
post_source = shaders/SmartBloomAdvanced.post
enable_postprocessing = no

## ADVANCED OPTIONS ##
## Don't fiddle with these unless you know what you're doing.

# enable alpha blending for textures without an existing blending effect
fancy_transparency = yes

# display frames per second counter in upper right corner
show_fps = off

# display some real-time debug information
show_stats = off

# store external textures in a compressed cache for increased performance
# compression is not lossless, some artifacts may appear when this option is in use
# texture cache does NOT update automatically if the source image changes, however, deleting anything from the cache
# will cause that file to be recreated from the source
compress_textures = no

# max size of the texture cache to hold in RAM, in megabytes
# don't set it any higher than 1GB unless you want your game to crash
texture_cache_size = 768

# use pixel buffer objects to speed up texture loading
# might crash horribly on ATI cards but should work for NVIDIA users
use_pbo = no

# use mipmaps (anisotropic filtering) for high-res textures
use_mipmaps = yes

# replace FF7's default framelimiter timer source
use_new_timer = yes

# plugin used to play movies, FFMpeg is the only choice for now
movie_plugin = plugins/ffmpeg_movies.fgp

## MODDER OPTIONS ##
## These options are mostly useful to modders and should not be enabled during normal play.

# read files directly instead of using LGP archives
# for example; if FF7 is looking for aaab.rsd in char.lgp, this option will make it open direct/char/aaab.rsd first,
# if this file doesn't exist it will look for the original in the LGP archive
direct_mode = off

# show every failed attempt at loading a .png texture
show_missing_textures = off

# extern additional library
load_library = Multi.dll

Nevermind fixed it, thanks :)

At startup the game returns this message, although it still works fine:

After closing that window it displays "Error loading music plugin" but I set it as None since it didn't do MIDI playback with VGMStream. And then in the title screen with the Buster Sword it displays this:

It doesn't bother me THAT much since at least the music works, but this didn't happen before I fixed the issue yesterday, even with the music plugin set to "None".

Sorry for double posting~

How am I supposed to uninstall that version? Am I supposed to delete the folder and then open that program? Because the program said it had no key or something, and now I can't reopen it since UAC seems to glitch now. >.>

Well yesterday it was working super fine as long as I didn't have any model mods activated, but today FF7 crashes instantly on startup (with no error message at all, just the "FF7.exe has stopped responding"), even with only the Gameplay mod and such.

So I open the converter but when I pick O (overwrite) or U (uninstall) OR as soon as it asks which option to use, it closes right there. It returns an error message sometimes (-1073741819), other times it fails to start up and returns with the error code 0xc0000142.

I have a feeling my registry got corrupted somehow, I don't know how, I don't think I messed with it in any way or form. Yikes, I never dealt with a corrupted registry, so I'm kinda afraid that if I reboot the PC again Windows uninstalls itself or something like that. :/

Oh well, just to let you know, I somewhat think it's related to 7H. No, I'm not saying it has a virus. :P

Shit, I'm dumb... I deactivated the models mods only leaving the Gameplay mod and Music mod and it boots fine... ggggg I'm sorry for wasting your time. >.< I guess the GPU isn't compatible with them? Oh well.

There doesn't seem to be any music on when I don't have the Music and Sounds mod activated, but it apparently plays the music (with the VirtualMIDISynth mixer showing up) in MIDI form and all when I pick the "Original Soundtrack" option in that mod. Can this be explained? :s Also when I skip the opening movie (and the opening movie only so far) with ctrl+s the screen is pitch black, but that might be the Gameplay mod itself.

Also is it possible to change the controls without going in the game itself? I put the saves from the Steam version in this one and if I press Enter on these saves the menu doesn't show up however if I just click NEW GAME and wait for the cutscene to end so the game plays properly it opens up the menu with no problems. So yeah I'd like to know if there's a way to change the controls for example in a config file.

Hopefully this is where I'm supposed to post the thread. :P

Anyway, I re-ran the FF7 Converter, chose to overwrite the files, and set VirtualMIDISynth and General MIDI as my sound devices. It should work now, right? Nope.

Anyone have any solutions? Thanks :)

Rerun the game converter and choose a different sound device than the Yamaha XG Midi.

Tried that, still crashes. Used the VirtualMIDISynth, the crappy Microsoft Wavetable Synth as well, using the General MIDI... still crashes. At least the error is something a bit different.

Hm. This is going to sound silly but is it possible so any music you listen to in the "music teathre" can stay for the entire game, even outside the Event Square, until you close the game or something? Can't really explain it :/

I know you can just open an external music player and done, but... Just an "idea"...

This whole episodic thing doesn't seem too promising... but I'm trying to stay positive. Hopefully they clear up the whole thing in the Jump Fiesta... I hope that when they release FFVII-R for PC (c'mon it will happen eventually) they already have the whole thing out.

I liked the gameplay trailer, good thing I already liked Kingdom Hearts' battle system from the 1 hour I played it. :P We didn't see much of it yet, though.

18
Hm. I'm not sure if it's this crap internet or what, but I can't access the download link. Any ideas? It gives ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT every time I F5. On other websites when this happens it usually goes back to normal if I F5 once but I have F5d at least 10 times and nothing...

EDIT: Nevermind, got it. Only problem is that the game apparently runs in fullscreen mode (yeah... I set the cfg to fullscreen = no) and it just displays a black screen and apparently no sound?... I'm using Windows 8.1.

So I am on Disk 2 already and I noticed I didn't get the Steam achievment for "Complete Part I"... is this a bug?

Also another question, let's say I want to use this mod at the same time as The Reunion (more specifically using the Beacause retranslation), can the use of that mod affect the lines in this mod?

Thanks, seems like it fixes itself.

I got up to Jenova-DECAY and the mod has been good so far, I might restart the game just to enjoy it to its full potential. :P Though is this just a bug with the PC version or what? After Aerith's Death during her funeral it seems to play Flowers Blooming in the Church... I am not sure because I played the PSX version the first time I played FFVII.

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess I was too quick. I can't believe that o_O

Steam can sometimes be a bit finicky when it comes to addresses.

Oh, I should have mentioned. It only works with Field screens, not the world map; there's no editor for the World Map script, and I think it's dependent on the .EXE in any case. Would have been nice to have the world map themes playing for those fights and as I was typing that I remembered something that might make it possible. I'll look into including the world map fights as well.

I backupped the data folder only, guess I'm going to deal with that.

I didn't know the world map didn't have an editor... here goes my idea of of building FFVI on the VII engine xD I'd like it to not alter the exe since I want the Steam trophies and all... and honestly running a W95 game on W8 doesn't seem to be a good idea >.>"

Anyway is it worth grinding in this mod? I used the Rank Up thing and I kind of like it, however I'm sure I need to grind for the TotA. Do the stats go up when I level up or is the level thing just a number that doesn't affect anything? Maybe I should restart the game but still... Also Rocket Town seems like it's loading too fast, like it has the Quick Loading cheat on, is this a bug? Thanks.

Oh, thank you. I made sure I did a backup of the game before installing the NT mod... maybe it was the name and the installer got confused or something... anyway thanks for the patcher! Going to try to use it now for the backup.

EDIT: had to patch it on the Steam version, I see my backup which is under a different name (D:\FINAL FANTASY VII - Backup) and... you guessed it, vanilla game. The hell. I'm thinking it's related to Steam...

EDIT2: I toggled between both 'Field' and 'Normal' and they still play the random battle music, at least in the world map. Hm. Is this a glitch? I have v1.35 iirc.

Thanks. Also, uhh, sorry for annoying you with one more question, but I installed NT to D:\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII yet it seemed to install as well on my backup located on D:\FINAL FANTASY VII?... In the installer I pointed to the Steam path but apparently it reflected on my backup as well. What the hell is going on?

Oh yeah, I started the game without the NT mod, then decided I wouldn't be able to survive without Aeris and installed NT just to keep Aeris alive after disk 1. ._.

Thanks anyway, I'll try to level up. Even in the vanilla game (with just the mouth removal patch) it seems to stay there. Oh well.

By the way, did I read incorrectly or does NT also allow to remove the battle music so when I enter into battles on the world map it still plays the main theme? If so where can I toggle it?

Sorry if this was already reported but is this supposed to happen on both the menu and the victory screen?

I'm using Cloud, Aeris and Red XIII on disc 1. Red XIII doesn't seem to be affected but Cloud and Aeris have this annoying bug. It keeps me throwing me off because I think that the character already leveled up even though it didn't.
