hey, a bit off topic, i got inspired by your civilian cloud and drew a character similar looking (not completely the same, hairs different and no pouldron (sp?))

i could do some work on photoshop and put it up if you'd like to take a quick look at it.

a bit more on topic, your work is still awesome every time i see it

I don't see why you can't post a link, and it sounds like...
you drew a guy with jeans, a pair of boots, a jacket, and with hair.

I think that design... can't really be copyrighted. =P

thats the main reason I released it as civilian cloud and the other tifa design.

This post will say when there's a new contest... or the first post will, depends if I'm lazy enough to not move the other posts down one so this can be closer to the top.

This post will mention when there is a new contest, and to enter, you need to send me a PM saying who you want to use as a base.
and in order to enter, you need to produce 3 things:
1 - A battle model
2 - A field model (any style)
3 - A reference you used.

Based on how popular this becomes, we may have bimonthly events, and if those are successful, we may turn it into monthly events.

Custom or spliced is allowed, it just has to be a redesign, rather than just upgraded model.

And in case you didn't notice, i did show some skin in the Tifa and Celestia model.

Celestia however looks plain without the mask, and Tifa has some leg showing.

Just because they aren't running around nude doesn't mean they can't be female.

and, Tifa for instance, in her normal clothes, she'd freeze to death in a matter of seconds in the north.

And this thread isn't just for my work.

Thanks for the information. As you guessed, I thought that all people with clothes were men... I'm glad I'm finally enlightened. Oh right ! Never thought about that, either. I'll quickly have to put your Tifa model in my game, so she can finally feel comfortable. As an heterosexual male, I liked the eye-candy her original model procured - but I gotta think about her well-being first.

I may like my fan-service, but I can still appreciate nice 3D models. And yours are. But now I know that you won't create the sexy costume I wanted Tifa to wear (and it's perfectly fine)

I'd participate in the thread, but I know nilch about 3D model-creation

But I'm interested, so when my project is complete, perhaps I'll learn how to create models. Expect a lot of naked girls !

Hey, why so serious ? I'm sure Witness was just kidding, you guys need to relax. And in the case he wasn't, he never said that he wanted such a thread to be created on qhimm, and in the public section of all places. Just chill, people. I can't possibly be the only person who detected the humorous tone of his post (especially since it was made in reaction to Kuroda's vibrant post, where she basically said she is far from interested in undressing her girls - so his comment actually made me chuckle). You jump at his throat as if he had posted a pr0n pic or something.

Lets just move the conversion back on topic. Let's have no more talk of nude patches or anything of the sort. (and dont reply to this post about it).

As to the topic. Kuroda, perhaps you'd like to delineate a particular timeframe and we can get some word out. Links to various kimera tutorials would probably help those who arent too 3d inclined. I'll see if any particular price could be set up (sorry guys, don't count on cash

Should there not be some sort of rules to the contest?

Is it only vertex shading, or are textured models allowed?
What is the theme of the characters, if any?
Is there a poly count limit?
What is the deadline date?
Anything else i missed.

As for prizes I will offer up a custom title to the winner, to be put to a vote.

@sl1982, There is no contest as of yet, thats why I didn't say any finer details regarding it.
But, regarding what you asked...

Any model is acceptable just as long as it matches the criteria of the contest and that you made it yourself by either splicing default FF7 models or making it from scratch.
They can be textured, they can be vertex coloured, they can even be completely one colour if you so wish.
Note, you cannot enter a model that you already submitted previously for a contest, or to the gallery.

The contest will last for 2 weeks for anyone to submit their entry to me by PM, DO NOT post a reply with your entry.
By the end of the two weeks, judging will officially begin and will last for several days and will be judged by a select group of people not affiliated with Qhimm to reduce personal bias.
Once Judging is complete, I will update the contest announcement post and post a reply to the thread saying who won the contest and what place they came in.

I will keep a personal record of any and all entries submitted for each contest, but only the first 3 places will be officially recorded in the Hall of Fame.

@armourvil, I knew JW was joking, however, even as a jest, asking for such things is disgusting, violates forum rules, and had it any trace of genuine personal desire, then I'd be rather inclined to block JW from my sight on Qhimm. While he'd still be there, I'd be quite happily oblivious, as no post or thread he made would show up for me.
