« on: 2006-05-12 14:16:22 »
i would say that the main character there is female but with some of the recent games you really can't really tell  :-D
game does look good as it's said to be running in real time.

here a video of emerald getting beat in 1 minute 18 seconds

http://n.ethz.ch/student/wmartin/videos/FFVII%20(JP)%20Beating%20Emerald%20Weapon%20(in%201.18%20min).rmvb

u have 8 Counter materia linked to 8 Mime materia, u have cloud use W-item to get Barret pumped up with 2 H drinks, then u have Barret use his limit Ungermax on Emerald for 18 supercharged hits. Emerald counters with his generic Beam attack and Barret counter with mime 8 times meaning 8 consecutive Ungermaxs meaning 144 hits of 6000+ damage.

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / FF7 Wrappers?
« on: 2004-02-01 20:41:03 »
i'm pretty sure that winex is capable to running final fantasy 7 it just needs a little work, cos it has to be specific to the final fantasy 7 game it may not happen any time soon, i think its just the registry, copy protection and midi that will need fixing in winex for final fantasy 7 to work on it. as for the dx wrapper winex has a very good ability to run it. considering it already runs dx9 games like max payne 2 and other games like warcraft 3.

and also specifically i know from a very reliable source that doom 3 already runs on winex (or at least a leaked version of it does)

which shows that winex is very capable to running the game just needs the attention from ppl who know about how the ff7 port to pc works.

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / FF7 Wrappers?

Wine is a wrapper! Unfortunately, FF7 does not work with Wine. Well, it wouldn't install, so I have know way of knowing, but I doubt it does.

winex from transgaming.com supports many directx games (even recent ones like max payne 2) it has final fantasy 7 and 8 in the support in the list list, ff8 runs with some glitchs but final fantasy 7, installs but has problem accessing the cd's (probably the copy protection) and midi.

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / Spyware?
« on: 2003-12-30 19:42:26 »
yup adware usually does, the trick, i just don't understand how so many get on the computer i'm usually very careful when installing stuff, spyware should be made illegal and stupid virus scanner don't even remove them, spyware should be something that virus scanners should also remove, as they remove trojans so why not spyware! :-?

Archive / Final Fantasy 7 [SINGLE CD EDITION]
« on: 2003-12-04 17:36:32 »
i have the game put together on the hd so i don't have to bother with the cd's, in total its about 1.29GB, the movies being about 900mb.

so it will probably be possible to put the stuff on a cd but using compression, and other codecs.

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / regarding solution
« on: 2003-11-19 18:31:39 »
ok, i had the same problem on final fantasy 7 on windows 2000, on the first battle as soon as the first attack takes place regardless of who does it the game crashes and goes back to windows. also notice if you get a save game and try run it to skip first battle, every time you change rooms it should crash.

you probably have the same problem, heres the solution:

1. Make sure u have at least Service Pack 3 for Windows 2000

2. Download and install the Windows Application Combatibility Toolkit 2.6
get it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=09DAC794-B803-4B92-83C9-6A9E8B801434

3. Run the Compatibility Administration Tool from the toolkit.
Click the 'Fix' button. In the dialog that appears, enter the name of the program (FF7), vendor (SquareSoft), browse to ff7.exe and then click 'Next'.
Select 'None' for Operating System modes and click 'Next'.
Under Fixes, check the boxes: EmulateWriteFile, Shrinker, VirtualRegistry and then click 'Next'.

4. Click 'Select all' then 'Finish'.

5. Click 'Run' and see if it works.

it should run fine know, once you get it to run add it to the database so you won't have to run the tool every time, and enjoy :)  :)  :)

do let us know if it works!

i did'nt notice much similarities between ff9 or ffx, but anyway i hope they have more summons and spells this time round ffx only had like 5-6 summons and not all charactor could cast them.

The two main characters are Van and Ashie, the story is about an adventure on the airship. The game begins in a battle in the jungle, where Van is riding on a dragon. Up to 3 persons can participate in battles. It seems like there are Chocobo Knights in the game as well. Full details will be revealed at the Final Fantasy XII Conference on November 19.

check out the first picture released!

personally i think sqaure soft have done it again and made the main character look like a girl.

16
well since i don't have the psx version of ff7 anymore i can't test it, but what i can tell u is the offical site of the makers of that tool, maybe they have instruction on how to use it, but its in another language, so can't read it, try translate it or something.

http://www.cute.or.jp/~makuchan/pce/ff7v.html

17
heres a psx ff7 model viewer it does work i tried it many years ago, but i don't have the psx version of ff7 any more.

http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/ff7vMe.zip

18
yeah you should check out mirex's site, his Leviathan model viewer is brilliant for viewing ff7 models, probably the best and only one i've seen, apart from another psx model viewer which is'nt as good, i just hope that some day it will have support to view summons and animations.

19
regarding ccd, if you wanna edit a ccd file, i recommend getting alcohol 120% (its a burning program),

1. emulate the file,
2. once emulated, make an image of it, into .iso or any editable format u require.
3. .iso can easily be edited with programs like winiso etc.

* note i also had a problem with my cd a while back, i found that boogdemo.avi was courpt, i just replaced it with another larger .avi, from the game, although it showed me a different fmv during the game, it still got me past that part and did'nt crash.

20
what windows are you using?

21
When you hand Sephiroth the Black Materia the game crashes, Or after
speaking with Bugenhagen you cannot exit the scene.

These issues are created by a delay in the movie playback, causing
the game to crash. Run the FFVII Configuration
(Start>Programs>FFVII>FFVIIConfig) and set the video mode to
"Software Renderer". Also set the resolution to 320x240. Then
play through the section of the game. When you have passed the
trouble spot, save at the first available save point. You can
continue playing or exit and restore the previous configuration.

22
hmm, not sure what it could be but i use 3ds max 5.1 with character studio 4.0, maybe u have a different version?

23
i've managed to transfer most of a cloud model to 3ds max 5.1 but they eyes and mouth are still missing, i'm not quite sure how to add those, but appart from that the model is fully rigged, and walks, if someone familiar with 3ds max can help fix the eyes i would appreciate it,

u can get the model from

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/solat/cloud.max

thx

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / 3ds max
« on: 2003-09-15 15:07:47 »
well just found a way to convert the .lwo models created by biturn to 3ds max while maintaining the colours

its done using deep exploration.

u simply convert the lwo to vrml 2.0 and then import into 3ds max and you will have the full model with the proper vertex colours.

now i just have the problem of getting the proper bones in 3ds max its not as easy as lightwave where u just choose convert skelegon to bones.

25
its very easy to add bones to the battle models once you have bought them up in lightwave.

1. You simple click "Add" (on the left) then "Bones" and then "Convert Skelegons to Bones"

Lightwave will automatically add the correct bones to the models, the hard part is or where i'm stuck is after that, with the animation. but i'm sure i'm just missing something.
