Okay... I can bear it no longer...

WTF!!! You guys are amazing! That all is just wonderful! Been following the progress silently for quite a while, reported a little back as it was only a UI-Mod and then had no time to really contribute. (I'm a programmer with poor Max/Maya skills besides .. hehe).
Anyway... I fear the english vocabulary lacks enough words to express the greatness. Really amazing. I certainly hope this keeps up and we're all able to experience a whole new Final Fantasy. And honestly... if Square doesn't do a remake, you guys so far did :)
Many, many thanks and respects *bow*.

Well, I agree with Covarr.
While it is really nice texturing work, it is heavy on the eye, because of the very grainy floor. I guess this should be a little darker and less.. how can I say...well busy, as Covarr said.

About Vista... I never had much problems with Vista (even 64 bit). Only problem was in the beginning where there were only few 4 bit drivers out there.
And I don't really see the problem many have with UAC turned on. Sure it is sometimes annoying, but well, it works totally fine for me (Given, I am running Windows 7)

Anyway, those Custom Driver really rock. I'm really loving them!

5
Well for one, the patch shouldn't affect anything. Works fine for me too.

Considerung your APP.Log... It doesn't start the drivers at all. Ans since you are using Win XP the reg file should be fine.
Where did you put the files like ff7_opengl.fgd ? They should be where the ff7.exe is.

About the movie... did you get it to work? Does it at least seem the Game is using the Custom Drivers?

Looks really nice.
And, it would be stupid to not keep your work in pds (or what ever format GIMP uses) :)

I'm quessing, but I think, he just wants to know how they look like, how they are built up. With that in mind, it doesn't matter if it is a grass texture or a sand texture. They should look similar (I guess).

Concerning the WorldMap Map... Yes, that bothered me too, that every thing had its name. I mean, for the main places, such as Nibel, North Corel, you could have the names in there, but isn't really necessary, in my book.

Sure.. take your time.... School turly is soooo important to let us all wait... really, that is not nice. :p

No, seriously. Don'T overwork yourself :)

@ Kudistos Megistos:

Considering the first post screenshots the worldmap itself (as pyrozen posted) is already changed, isn't it?

10
pyrozen, that is exactly what I thought. You'd have to retexture every little bit.

What I was wondering (I only barely scanned over the wiki entry about the worldmap) is, if there then is a change in resolution. Meaning, if the Map gets larger so to display a little more detail. But I think, it won't work, as you'd have to change how you travel the world etc. Okay... I was just talking to me

11
I'm truly looking forward to seeing the improvements myself in-game :D

Btw. Will stay a "mere" retextureing of the WorldMap or will you in the end really change the World's Geometry?

12
I don't know if you posted your problems earlier on, but... With just this wish of everythign working, no one is going to be able to help you out there.

SL, did you change anything in those .tex files? Or are they really 100% the same files, that are used in FF7? *I'm still curious about this matter.. hehe*

with the exception of the fonts, yes it will.
I guess, the fonts you ahve to edit manually. (I don't know how those files look like as there are ä, ö and ü)

To further his question. Why do they have to change. I'm just curious :)

16
I didn't actually know what is possible. Possible is quite a bit.

I just wanted to know, if there is a roadmap on Aali's mind, what is going to happen. Optimizations? Better Rescaling of Flieldbackground.. I don't know, Probably I can't fancy enough :D

What does the resolution have to do with FF7 Music? :?

Anyway, as 640x480*2 equals 1280x960, you should go with that.

That is, though, if you are going in full screen. :)

19
I have another question here.

I was basically wondering what is still missing, or what has still to be done to the FF7 Driver? As it currently is 0.7.1.

Are you talking about the resolution FF VII is in?
If so, that would be 640x480 or multiples of it.

ERROR: couldn't open file d:\games\final fantasy vii\/textures/Spells/seffect/seffect1_06.png for reading: No such file or directory

That's what it is saying.

I'm currently in battle square and whenever there is this green thing that makes this stone stare to petrify you, the game crashes. I don't know if it has something to do with this mod, as it worked when I was in the gongaga region (where those appear as well).

As the german version (I'm not playing the german version on PC but I have played it) has ä,ö,ü so will the french version have the accents, I guess...?

Just follow the instructions again. But you don't really need a new magic.lgp or so.

Copy the flevel.lgp, magic.lgp and menu_us.lgp to the folder and execute the batch file.

Important: You should edit the batch file. Find

Code: [Select]
copy "%cd%\MagicTex\Limit\*.*" "%cd%\magic\ff7\data\battle\limit2\tifa1\" /Y
and change it to

Code: [Select]
copy "%cd%\Limit\*.*" "%cd%\magic\ff7\data\battle\limit2\tifa1\" /Y
then you are all set :)
