Game crashing shortly after launch

Game starts up, displays square enix logo, edios logo plays for a bit but seems like it's not done playing and then game crashes.

I unplugged my wireless keyboard and got further along. edios fully loads, chocobos go on screen with the Squaresoft logo, then the loading credits start. I press something and it crashes

After finding the wireless keyboard fix, decided to go through the FAQ steps again. After deleting the AppData, upon activating a mod, received this message:

Tried again and the mod seemingly activated. Tried to start up the game and crashed upon user input.
