Do you have the older W03 version of RaW?

Try again on a fresh install and see if that fixes it.

Hi DLPB,
When installing your modification of Roses and Wine (W06 Final)
A backup copy of the dmusic folder is created, but if you start Roses_and_Wine.exe and delete this modification, it does not restore the old dmusic folder, but deletes it along with its files.

As a result, if you delete RAW, then all the music disappears in the game.

You can restore music files by checking the cache in Steam, but why does the program back up if it is later deleted?)

And thanks for the mod, great music.

I take my words back :)
Now I rechecked again and the backup files were successfully restored to their places.

W06 no longer works on Wine because Wine overrides ddraw.dll to its internal version and crashes if you force it to try and load a native dll. So if someone still has W05 or earlier link me up thanks

I'm having trouble running this.

I'm using W06 and the installer seems to get stuck at the end on "backing up" When trying to run the game it just crashes. Uninstalling the mod makes the game work again.

Am I missing something? The installer only accept the FF8 folder option and tryed both install options (normal and DLPB). Also when uninstalling the installer will get stuck.

Putting the game exe in desktop and using it as installing path works fine althoug after copying those files to the real game folder will also crash on startup.

Hi, whenever I try and extract the data into my root I get the following error message: A valid FF VIII executable was not found. Did you select the correct location?

I went to Steam\steamappszcommon\FFVIII\data\music\dmusic and selected all of them but I keep getting this. Yes, I did run in administrator mode.

Why isn't it working?

That isn't the root.  Read the help file.

Nevermind, I installed it in the location where FFVIII.exe is.

Well I did that and it doesn't work for me.

FFVIII.exe doesn't exist.  It's called FF8.exe.

No, I can't, lad. It really doesn't get any easier than what it is - and if you can't find the main executable in your folder (which it actually does automatically for most people) - or it doesn't work - then you have either not installed it right, are using incompatible version - or worse... you are using a pirated copy.

Bought legit from Steam for £9.99 thanks.

Like I said, I found the main executable in my folder (you were being quite the pedant when I put FFVIII instead of FF8) and extracted the files into there.

I was going to ask you to elaborate on why it would be incompatible but I've already worked out that there's no point in even asking you.

Since you seem like a regular poster, I'd have expected you to be a bit more helpful rather than being rude, abrupt and arrogant. I came on here requesting help and in no way insulted you, yet from the get go you felt the need to put your negativity in my direction. Sad, really.

I'd rather use a different program now, thanks for your insight. Not :)

What the guy doesn't understand is that it took me a lot of time and effort to make the mod. And then I have to suffer with ridiculous questions - some that have been asked 100x, some caused by piracy, some caused by not reading the help file - but ridiculous nonetheless.  What's worse is that I end up snapping or being abrupt with people who have a genuine problem because of it.  To sum up: I'm frustrated and no longer capable of having the patience of a saint. Something I never possessed anyway :P

@Reckoner: I can't make it any more simple for you than the help file does.  I don't know why it isn't working for you. It isn't my fault. And since thousands of others aren't having your issue, it has to be something uniquely wrong with your set up or understanding.

How do I use ddraw.dll to inject hext instructions?  Is it possible anymore?  I wanted to use Maki's UV patcher along-side RaW.  Should I install Hext_Launch instead and forget about using ddraw.dll?

It isn't possible at all until I actually release the next ddraw.dll which adds that support. It's never had that function until next release. For ff8, ddraw IS raw. It includes it.

To use Hext at the moment, you're stuck with HextTools.  But it won't be too long off.

Hey man. It's not echoing. It's the game's audio playing along. As far as I remember I deleted the game's audio track for that song so as only DLPB's track to be read by the app.
