I am pleased how this part went, both translation and localisation.  The thing to remember is that cloud's inner self is talking to him about the time he fell off the Nibl bridge.

Hello there!

I’m not a native speaker, so I’m not really sure if I’m right with this, but that double question in the translation sounds really weird: “Do you think can you get up?”. Is this form alright?

Keep it up! I’m looking forward for the first release!

falkTX: Yeah it did say it was caused by ntdll.dll :/
and yeah I get everything the same as you mentioned.. crash on menu and battle.
and also a crash when leaving the train cabin. I bet you crash there aswell.

strange thing though.. only crashes on (Wine as previously reported..) and XP.. not on Win7..
Aali did you test it on which Operating System?

Also KaOSoFt. As I stated myself I can't play it on Win7 either for the same reason
and thats why I would love to play VIII on XP atleast :P

And what to improve?
Well I noticed slight difference when a "battle swirl" event occurs. Without the driver there is more "light" during the effect
and when using the driver its not as cool looking since there is no light effect in it. This ofc is only for VIII.

Anyways.. still waiting for your response about fixing this Aali. :)

EDIT: KaOSoFt just noticed your APP.LOG doesn't even try to load the driver. I'm going to see if I manage to get it to work under Win7. I get initializing sound.. all the time, which is the reason why it crashes. If that APP.LOG is when you use compatibility mode, did you use run as adminstrator? Also if I recall correctly, one of the older driver releases worked just fine before.

EDIT 2: Ok KaOSoFt, try to open FF7Config.exe and reinstall the opengl driver via ff7_opengl.reg. Make sure you have your audio device selected inside the FF7Config.exe ! I was a dummie and forgot to do that, that was the reason and as you have same problem.. you should check your FF7Config.. I'm pretty sure thats your problem! :)
It doesn't work...

Since I'm going to reinstall and upgrade (?) Windows 7 into 64-bit, do you think it'll work with no problems in there?

Thanks!

Hello there.

I recently installed Windows 7 (32-bit), and now Final Fantasy VII isn't working. It will start, and then suddenly, after two or four seconds, it displays a black screen, and crashes.

I tried all compatibility modes, to no avail.

This is my APP.LOG, just in case:

I hope you can help me sort out this problem. Thanks...!

PS: By the way, I didn't reinstall the game. I just added the registry information that I had in my Windows XP installation, so the SquareSoft key in the registry is the same.

Could someone please send me their ff7input.cfg file...? I accidentally deleted it while trying to make FF7 work on Windows 7...

Thanks in advance...

Are these custom drivers still being updated?

There is still a few odd texture problems i have incurred. During the bike minigame for example, the road markings are all skwiggly lines instead of straight textures. Not sure what causes that to happen by using the drivers.

Geez, I don't make a new release for two weeks and you think the project is dead? :P
I'm aware of this issue but since it's very minor and doesn't affect playability it's very low priority.
Well, we were used to have a release every two or three days... Anyone would ask what's happening, myself included, it's just that I didn't post, since I know programmers usually take their time to refine their projects... specially if it's actually theirs.

I admit I was one of the people who would press F5 on my browser every hour just to check if something new happened... geek behavior, I know, but hey, this is good stuff!

Keep going!

He Blinks!

I would say his lips are a tad too big. But seeing as though you rarely see him this close, it's not that big a deal!
This is very nice! Yeah, lips should be shortened a bit. They look like they have been injected or something...

Thanks for your hard work, and keep going!

I don't know where . But I am sure that this version does exist.
Unfortunately, I don't see it anywhere. I guess no one wishes to get rid of their copy...

Do I apply this graphics driver to the 1.00 exe or the 1.02 exe?
Also, can I use this with Saints and/or PRP?
Thanks :D
You must use v1.02; you should no longer use Saints patch, and I guess it should be compatible with PRP...

EDIT: Hell, I was rather slow in answering... :P

8
Aali, I found the Spanish version of the patch 1.02. Patch 1.02
Wait just right there, you sir!

Is there a spanish version for PC as well?! I didn't know that! Now, the thing is, where in the world can I get it...?

* KaOSoFt goes lurking, looking for the spanish version of FFVII PC *

9
For what it's worth, I patched the exe with the YAMP minigames patch, and I'm not running in compatibility mode.
You should use the original, unmodified v1.02 executable. Aali's driver already fixes all the crashes and bugs other patches supposedly did, and even more, so it's better to work on a clean copy. Well, that's all I know...

Releases / Replacement FMVs for FFVII
« on: 2009-05-27 23:46:37 »
Thanks for the complement Kaos. However I'm notsaying, nor did I ever say the word "real". I choose to get permission from Hybridmoon, Darkangel8694, and Clover27(thanks to Obesebear) to include their vids on this thread because I felt they all added something to the game and where a step in the right direction as far as fan made FMVs go. The type of editing and masking portrayed in their vids is difficult, and people who master it ussually make good money doing it.
Yeah, I recognize their hard work, and though they add that extra feeling to the videos, it's not my type.

Hehe, maybe I mixed up the "opinions" topic. I thank you, and those video authors for your efforts, I just, personally, don't share your love for that kind of fan material. Like I said, I wish there were more official material available, so they could do a better job, but the lack of it it's what makes it difficult for them to improve over what doesn't exist.

It's just me.  :-)

Releases / Replacement FMVs for FFVII
« on: 2009-05-27 04:01:48 »
Added original and hq quality Ending2 vids from Darkangel 8694 to main post. Made from dark's original 1280x720 with audio corrected to not sound so blown out at loud parts. I've seen it in a vid pack as just a youtube rip and the audio is pretty bad.
It's a good edit: I bet it took him some time to synchronize those images, but even if it's that good, it's way far from calling it "real". I wish there were more official material, so these kind of edits would look more appealing.

Anyways, thank you very much for your effort!

Now, that's a change!

It still looks a bit stretched, but it's immensely a much better quality version. Hahaha, thanks God hellbringer616 noticed it.

Thank you!

Proud to report that the battle crash bug has been fixed :-D
Ditto! :)

Releases / Replacement FMVs for FFVII

By the way, grimmy307, do you plan on improving jenova_e.avi video? It really needs it. Thought the video itself it's high definition, the quality is bad. The video is like blurred, and stretched. It's the only video I didn't replace. I didn't like canon3f.avi (which should actually be named canonh3f.avi instead) that much, since its black and white scene made it lost the thrill of the moment. If it only was colored...

In any case, nice work!

http://backup.ninjaloot.se/share/ff7_opengl-0.6.4b.zip

Installation
Run FF7Config to setup sound/midi if you haven't done that already.
Extract the archive into your ff7 folder (where ff7.exe is), run one of the .reg files (64-bit Vista users have to use the vista64bit file)
FF7 will now use the new driver. (To revert the changes made by the .reg file, run FF7Config)

New features in this version
None

Bug fixes in this version
Finally fixed the crash in battle introduced with 0.6.1b. :-)
Added some more sanity checking to prevent a few possible crashes.

If you find any issues, please post screenshots, relevant information from APP.LOG and if possible, a savegame.
If you get a crash, provide a copy of crash.dmp and APP.LOG (preferably in a zip archive, this will make it 10x smaller)
Yay! Thank you! I'll test it right away!

I'd love if apz freak would just join this party...

I wish I had the time and patience needed to learn this art, and help you guys. I'll try someday.

Good luck, and thank you for your effort!

Troubleshooting / The APZ Cloud Project!!!!
« on: 2009-05-24 15:23:50 »
Wow, very nice release! I can't wait for the field models (I don't care if it's chibi, but a better chibi model sounds cool).

I'm going to try it out like, RIGHT NOW!

Thank you!

EDIT: It works wonders!

apz, have you, I don't know, maybe, thought about making "The APZ Final Fantasy VII Project"? I mean, like, working on the rejuvenation project...

Seriously, playing with these models would push FFVII to the limits, like FFVII on steroids. It's already awesome playing with this Cloud... I can't imagine the whole game!

18
Obviously, I meant the crash, not the fix
Oh, I sometimes hate being a non-native. I usually misunderstand these kind of conversations.

Thank you!

19
Oh and I fixed the battle crash for good this time, it will not be in 0.6.4b :-P
It will not? Why?

20
I also got this crash just initiating the battle. The weird thing is, I had already battled four (or three?) times already, and nothing had happened.

EDIT: Oops, totally forgot the APP.LOG and the crash.dmp. Here is it, for Aali, and Aali's eyes only, please. It can only be downloaded ten times before deletion:

Thank you very much for your support.

Known problems
Some very minor graphical glitches.
Like which?

Dumb question, but does this driver fix things to make the "chocobo patch" obsolete?
Good question. Which patches have become obsolete?

Thank you for your effort.

Hello.

I'm new to these forums, though I remember getting here a while ago (when I still played FF7).

The thing is... I saw certain version published on Internet, and that made me remember about this game, so I did a little bit of searching, eventually leading me back here.

Though at the beginning I had some issues with video playback, now it's solved, and with a little bit of crawling, I read this thread, and I'm totally bought. Whatever you're doing it's like the OpenGL Enhanced Renderer for Deus Ex, and I like that.

I'd like to know what's this Snowboarding issue you talk about. It's about some random crashes, or a definite one? I wouldn't like my (retro) gameplay to be ruined by a totalitarian crash.

I congratulate you on your efforts, and I expect you keep improving on this gem.

Thank you very much for your support.

PS: If anything of what I said doesn't make any sense, bear with me: I'm not native. Thanks.
