Releases / Re: [FF7PC-98/Steam] New Threat Mod (v1.5)
« on: 2018-07-22 20:15:52 »
Thats a very old version and alot of the bugs in it have been fixed, just try the newest version available on the initial post of this thread. Download the IRO package and open the zip file up and place the ff7 and ff7_bc.exe if you want Menu overhaul in your FF7 directory (make copies of your originals just in case) Then place the IRO included in the zip in your ff7/mods/7th heaven folder and launch 7th heaven. go to your library tab and hit search and at the bottom of the list will be the new NT. just activate it and leave it at the bottom of your load order, then just turn off the original Gameplay and Story iro

Well I'm quite the fool for not trying to actually download the mod from this thread instead of the catalog. :-[ Thank you so much for your help UpRisen. I believe the catalog contains v.1.4 for what it's worth. Cheers everyone, and thanks again!

I just wanted to say thank you for making this, Sega Chief. It's really helping breathe new life into an already great game! It's nuts how much time you've clearly put into this so

I have a small issue with NT however that I'm wondering if you might have some insight on.

My issue is that when I start a new game with NT and select the option to keep field music playing during battle, the option doesn't actually work in-game. The battle music doesn't play in the beginning outside of Reactor No.1 but that's how it is in the original game. Inside of Reactor No.1 the battle music plays as usual during each fight.

For what it's worth, I use the 7th Heaven version of your mod acquired directly through the catalog. In the spoiler below is a list of all the mods I have enabled in 7th Heaven v.1.49 (v.1.54 was causing serious issues for my system) Note: I've tried NT on it's own without any other mods enabled and get the same results :| an issue with iro version?)

It's also worth noting I tried editing my flevel.lgp using Makou Reactor, like you suggested in this thread: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=16340.0 but had no luck doing that either...

Any advice you can offer would be GREATLY appreciated. Cheers!

Wow that's a relief. I'm so glad it's that simple. I thought doing that might muck up the game and make it unplayable. Thanks for your help, EQ2Alyza.

7th Heaven / Cannot Change Sound Device in FF7Config.exe
« on: 2015-04-03 09:12:44 »
Hi all. I recently decided to get with the times and start using 7th Heaven and so far I'm quite satisfied with it. One problem however is that I cannot change my sound output from my speakers to my headphones because a 7th Heaven FF7 Install can't re-run FF7Config.exe without ruining some crucial registry keys (at least this is what I've read).

tldr: Is there any way to switch between speakers and headphones without running FF7Config.exe via re-installing / converting FF7 for 7H all over again?

Thanks in advance, everyone.

Thanks, I'll definitely give those a read. My goal is to attempt to re-model / texture Barret's many hand cannons to go with Timu Sumisu & Millenia's HQ Barret Model a bit better. I figured that shouldn't be too hard for a first project.

Models look great wolfman. I'm just glad ANYONE is interested in reviving the graphics of this game honestly. Do you have any recommendations for someone looking to learn 3d modeling? I just downloaded blender and I'm wondering where I should start.

8
I just recently started replaying FF7 with bootleg and forgot how nice the game looks now. One thing I did notice is no one seems to have taken a shot at remodeling / retexturing Barret's guns. I just downloaded blender and was wondering if anyone knew of a good tutorial for getting started learning something along those lines. Thanks in advance and sorry if this wasn't the right place for this question

Wow. just wow. These look fantastic, truly. I haven't played ff7 in quite some time now but I'm re-installing bootleg and trying these out. Amazing work so far! Can't wait to see how some of the more iconic scenes turn out ;)

I have to say this is a crucial fix. The Timsu Barret model's upper arms weren't quite long enough originally, if I'm not mistaken. This model is much more proportionate of Barret imho.

Edit: Ohhh, I didn't realize I coudn't hotlink to flickr, errr sorry. You can right click and copy the image url. It's a good screenshot showing off the model edit.

Thank you for this amazing model Bloodshot. I'm truly impressed and totally jealous of your modeling skills. A+ work here :)

Yep Windows 8 is a nightmare not just for ffvii but many other things i just couldn't take it anymore put up with it for couple of months now moved to Windows 7 no more stress :)
Exact same story here. Windows 8 was also making FFSplit streaming to TwitchTV impossible... Pretty sure this is solved more or less if any mods want it moved. I would just avoid Windows 8 for another year or so and let it either die off or become more the standard. Probably the latter honestly given the trend associated with the idea of "Apps" they so stubbornly support.

Edit: Okay closing note sorry, I've also found that... assuming you're running Nvidia hardware, setting up a profile for ff7.exe and running vsync from the nvidia control panel leads to a smoother frame rate by far than if you used the ff7 bootloader's vsync checkbox. Just a tip if anyone else has my issue. Kay I'll go hid until the game gives me trouble some more...

Also if anyone is interested I'm doing a let's play live on TwitchTV featuring Gjoerulv's Hardcore Mod here: http://www.twitch.tv/eliwolfe92
Come check it out 7pm EST every weeknight :)

Upon re-installation of Windows 7, My FFVII with the same Bootleg set up is running at 30 FPS locked for hours on end. The first give-away that it worked was the Battle swirl limiter FINALLY started actually working even though I enabled it in the bootleg installer during each configuration... Vsync was also causing flickering menus (Mostly the less used Save/PHS/Quit ect.) on Windows 8, while on Windows 7 I'm not seeing a single flicker :)

I guess if anything can be learned from this it's that if you decide to upgrade to Windows 8, be ready for possible issues related to this game. That's not to say everyone will have the same issues on Windows 8, but I'm evidence that it's certainly possible O_O

You've been warned, Windows 8 is satan.

15
May be necessary to let ff7.exe run in compatibility mode.
My FF7.exe is set for Windows 98 / ME compatibility (probably automated through bootleg)

Edit: I'm attempting a dual-boot setup of Windows 7 and 8 (Both 64-bit) as I type this... This should prove if Windows 8 is causing my Performance issues... I'll edit this as soon as I'm done to let y'all know.

16
Now that I've had more of a chance to look at this...

Are you using the official driver from NVIDIA? The one that comes with Windows update works fine for Direct3D, but has all sorts of OpenGL problems.
I'll try a re-install of the drivers I have downloaded but I can confirm they're from NVIDIA.com and not aquired via automatic updates...
In fact the LATEST nvidia drivers are incompatible with FF7 bootleg. I had to use 314.22 as listed here in the FAQs: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13212.0

Edit: Tried a re-install of said drivers but no change. The first 10 minutes of play are flawless 30 FPS (To which I assume is the max for this game?) almost immediately the frame rate will drop to a third of that (Roughly 10-12 FPS) and will stay that way until the game is restarted. As I said above I used to get 30 FPS solid without loss on Windows 7 so I'm simply confused as to the cause. I was thinking maybe a DLL of some sort but I wouldn't know where to begin...

Hey everyone, my name is Eliott Wolfe.

I've been using bootleg to improve the quality of my FF7 experience for a while now; Ever since it was re-released on Squenix's store (To which I can't express enough regret for purchasing) That's another story :/

Anyway, My problem is that ever since I updated to Windows 8 from Windows 7 prior, I've been dropping to 12 sometimes 10 FPS after roughly 10-15 minutes of play when using HDR Bloom. When I was on Windows 7 with Bootleg installed I easily managed a steady 30 FPS throughout hours of play... No hardware change whatsoever. So what makes Windows 8 crush my performance?

## MODDER OPTIONS ##
## These options are mostly useful to modders and should not be enabled during normal play.

# read files directly instead of using LGP archives
# for example; if FF7 is looking for aaab.rsd in char.lgp, this option will make it open direct/char/aaab.rsd first,

Thanks for the reply, and the tip. and maybe its because its significantly more difficult than vanilla FF VII. and really? thanks, i didn't know that. I mean I've beaten both and that comparison came completely from experience. it's really not much different in difficulty unless you flat out suck at ninja gaiden.

EDIT: Also, doesn't this mod enable you to control sephiroth's actions during the flashback sequence? I just got to it and during the battle with the dragon he simply revived cloud twice as he died and then automatically attacked the dragon for like 22000 damage. I didn't even get a turn :'(

Backstory for my problem (skip if its boring you :) )

Hey everyone. this is my first post i just joined. I had a question though, I ABSOLUTELY love this hard mode (You're awesome gjoerulv!). pardon the comparison but I feel like im playing ninja gaiden its so tricky. My only problem is im at the end of shinra hq and i finish the bike mission every time with flying colors (thanks to my childhood ;) ) but when i get to the hell roller thing at the end i get creamed on impact. my chars are around lvl. 17 which isn't good for this mod at that point im told? anyway he kills at least one person right off the bat and i have NO more phoenix downs. doesn't normally happen to me but there was only the one shop that sold them and that was only when you first arrive at the HQ. plus like no emenies i ran into there dropped them :(

Anywho, I was wondering if I use kranmer's trainer (forgive me if i misspell someone's name) would i safely be able to teleport back to a shop or a group of enemies who drop them, stock up, and teleport back and start the minigame? or is there a simpler way to simply add at least 1 maybe 3 into my inventory directly JUST so i can overcome this obsatcle and leave stinky ol' Midgar?

Thanks in advance, happy modding!
