New FF7 Program for PSX
« on: 2003-02-15 09:55:38 »
There's a new FF7 program available that reads the background files with the entire script! You can get it from http://snailrush.free.fr/

Unfortunately it only works for PSX, but I think Qhimm has a program to view the backgrounds for PC, although I haven't looked.

EDIT: Forgot to say, it's called '7mimic'

WTF!!! DAMN!!! The backgrounds are perfect!!! INCREDIBLE!!!  :o

After a little look around seems that there'r second backgrounds inside the backgrounds... like in ghotel... there's the hotel with the graves... and a second background with just the sky, that's maybe one of the reason of the missvisualization of Cosmo/LGP Tools... Ficedula, whe need you :)

The effect you're seeing is called "layering", for lack of a better term.  The SNES did it, essentially overlaying different background tiles to allow effects such as having different parts of the background move independently of each other.

In this case, since both 2D backgrounds and 3D polygonal models are supposed to be on the screen at the same time, the backgrounds are most likely sorted with the Z-Buffer of the Renderer, as this seems more like a depth thing.

If you click one of the toolbar options (labeled 1-16) up the top, it changes the 'objects' on the field, like outside the temple of the ancients, you can turn the temple on and off and the glow and lightning from when you do that 'certain thing' that results in the temple not being there anymore.

Just wondering, but do the current programs for the PC version do this?

do you think you could take the textures from the pc version, and use some prog like photoshop or something to smooth out the grafx...and run it in a higher res?
just a thought.
