I couldn't help but notice a picture of a group of people I recognized. Isn't this an old staff photo of Qhimm forums, in the upper left? XD.

I might be horribly wrong, but my memory of it is screaming at me :P.

Completely Unrelated / A realization hit me today...
« on: 2012-08-19 08:05:49 »
I've been viewing these forums for around six years now... It's insane how much the modding scene has changed with more user friendly tools.
Things once impossible now possible. It's just very trippy looking back; given my modding skills are rather... Amateurish to say the least. I can just barely understand what all you folks with your big boy pants are saying ;). However, I am just saying simply that I am grateful :).

These games here were a big part of my childhood; I suppose ripping them apart now, and messing around with them. Adding content that didn't originally exist, watching the game sort of evolve and grow. It's just an odd experience. Not to say I am overly attached to these games by any means, I Love them to death, but they are ultimately just video games ;).

I really don't know the point of this post other than to just say: wow. In a good way :3.

Completely Unrelated / DayZ anyone playing?
« on: 2012-07-22 23:09:37 »
I am playing this really sharp zombie survival game. You start with no weapons, no food or water in the middle of a post apocalyptic world. Your one goal is to live. You have loot towns for food and drinks, and eventually you'll be able to live off the land and such. It's much easier in groups because if you encounter bandits your're generally dead, because they shoot first. Where as survivors are not murders. (Depending if you are roleplaying or not.)

http://dayzmod.com/

It is a mod for Arma II, and it is far better than the base game ;P.
I am rather addicted to it myself. Anyone else playing? :).

How be you, world of Qhimm? I'd nearly forgotten about you all, until my grandpa deleted my folder of final fantasy VII mods by mistake, which wasn't really a big deal as I hadn't touched the game in a year or two, really. But, yes, hello!

5
Hello there, I was working on a mod, and I was wondering if its possible to change the model that loads for each character, such as making Cloud load SIAA , and Young Cloud load RTAA, if thats possible. That is without  going into the LGP itself, and renaming all of SIAA to fit the RTAA counterparts, I want a purely scripting solution.

Thanks,

I am completely unsure if this is even the right section for this post, but I think it is. ^.^.
I haven't had to ask for help in ages, my mods usually run just fine, but now everything is iffy.

A little background information:

Back when I was trying to help a friend of mine install Final Fantasy VII on her computer I uninstalled mine to walk her through all the steps and such, cause she wanted mods too, you know? And I can't do that sort of thing off the top of my head, and while explaining what to do in regedit, I got kinda fed up with her... "Lack of cooperation" and just exported it with the information she needed... While doing so I accidentally deleted the my FF7 registry file.

Even with a re-install the registry file wouldn't reappear, it caused me much grief, what I eventually ended up doing was installing Final Fantasy VII on my other computer and exporting the registry file from that, and sticking it into this one. Everything ran smoothly again with brief edits to tell it what drive to read the disc image from, and what folder to find the movies. Before this, the game wouldn't even work at all. So...

And now when I try to install FF7 Music, my computer spazzes, and my desktop seems to go into 256-colors mode...or something. And the game lags like a mo-fo. :P.

Here are some images:

Before running ff7:

After running ff7:

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mendel

Edit:

Note:
Other Mods I am using:
Team Avalanche 9.0
Millenia's Custom Weapons
1.2 official patch
Aali's graphics driver

And that setup runs just fine, without FF7 Music.

Edit 2:

Note:
My graphics drivers are installed correctly. :P
And so is Aali's... I am pretty sure.

Completely Unrelated / Another Lame Music Thread.... ^.^
« on: 2010-07-10 04:01:22 »
I have always been a huge fan of classical music and string instruments as a whole. My favorite instrument being the cello (the violin following closely after.) :D. It has a sense of longing that most instruments cannot capture. I have even heard it creates a sound that is the closest to a human voice, among all of its other instrumental brethren.

Recently I discovered that Linkin Park did some remakes of their own music, in the form of a string quartet. Beautiful stuff. In my opinion it far surpasses the originals in every way. XD. Though I do like some of the originals as well....

Here are a couple of my favorites from the Linkin Park String Quartet:

What I've done:

And here is just a random song I like:

Schindler's List Main Theme (it's heart breaking):

Now, I am going to ask you folks this, to start a discussion. What are some of your favorite instruments, and what kinds of music do you enjoy?

For me I like the Cello, Violin, and piano. However I do like good old fashioned rock and roll as well.
Examples of said music... *points to links above*

Now. I pass the ball to whoever decides to read this thread. *tosses ball*

Completely Unrelated / Mendelevium's Custom Models 2
« on: 2010-06-22 07:36:53 »
I some how accidentally deleted my original thread while trying to edit, gee do I feel smart. Well as the name implies I am going to be posting my custom 3D content in this thread. I am one of those weirdos who loves constructive criticism, so don't worry about my feelings, tear my models apart, I want to get better!

Well I will start with one relevant to FF7, here is my schpeel on Aeris/th's Umbrella:

A mess up on Aeris/th's first staff:

Troubleshooting / AAFE.AKI file has failed to load?
« on: 2010-05-28 01:53:15 »
I have no idea what that is. Or where it would be located...

All I know is every time I hit new game, or try to load an old saved game I get an error message saying that the AAFE.aki file has failed to load. And then it shuts my Final Fantasy VII game down, dropping me back to desktop. O.O

I am pretty sure it has something to do with the char, or flevel.lgps, because I can start the game okay. And I am fairly certain it has to do with all of my personal mods, they most likely have the LGPs all clogged up. Hehe... I am content in not using my personal mods, cause I know a clean install runs just fine; but if it is at all possible, I would like to know if there is a simple solution to this, like opening the original Char.lgp or flevel.lgp and copy and pasting the missing file to my new lgp file..or?

I am using Aali's custom graphics drivers, and The Team Avalanche Overhaul mod, as well as the APZ custom Cloud battle model, and Ficedula's Music mod. On top of it all I have many personal mods installed...

I know I have the 1.02 patch installed, and the drivers ARE working, I have checked several times, the app log should be evidence enough. ;).

Here is my crash.dmp:

Completely Unrelated / AMV I made
« on: 2010-05-08 02:28:23 »
I R a fanboi nao.
Failed attempt at English aside....

So yeah. I made an AMV with FF7 AC.
I used an over used song, with over used clips, and it is my very first AMV ever.
It took three edits to get it to the point it is at now, the ending is still a work in progress, and I mean the last scene with the phone.
I am rather proud of my syncing though. ^.^.

But yeah, it's all mine, and I am a fan boy now, I guess. :P.
Or am i just conforming with the masses. Who knows?

Well here is the link:
http://www.megavideo.com/?v=EQZJM40A

I just want some opinions on it. >.>;;. It was a work of boredom. I plan to do one  that is more original next. A less seen anime, with a less heard song. :D.

Currently I am working on getting FF7 PC version to function on the psp.
And I have found an easy way to do it. Through the use of PSPdisp. It streams both the sounds and video output from your pc monitor/speakers to your psp through a wireless or usb connection. I merely want to play a modded FF7 in my bed, and I lack a labtop. So this is the best I have.

Now this Pspdisp program can play FFVII pc with minimal lag, and blurring (due to quality and fps). However the psp lacks a keyboard... There just happens to be a way to map out the keys so they function like a ps1 controller. Which is exactly what I need. :p.

There are various videos out there of gamers using this same program to play Call of Duty 4 on their psp's, via a computer connection. it is the Same concept, Just with FF7 instead of COD4. I just am lost on how to configure the controls. My many attempts have failed, the read-me's and help files offer little assistance, and I have not been able to find a tutorial through the hour or two of searching I put into this.

Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Mendel

p.s.

Now, I am kinda sketchy on whether this is frowned upon here or not, this "PSP Modding"
I will remove this if the moderators don't like it. ^.^

Again thank you.

Completely Unrelated / My Apology
« on: 2010-03-24 03:35:05 »
Well where to begin. I have been involved in many fiascos lately. And most likely have insulted or even hurt some people. Let us see...

I will begin with the biggest. I am Makubex/Yuffie_Lover. Or rather, Makubex was a figment of my imagination. A social experiment if you would will. I am also BrokenCrowe, Blood_Crowe, Sightless_seer, the_scarred_raven.

BrokenCrowe was my original account, and my original namesake. Blood_crow followed shortly after, I don't know. I am just like that, I tend to make multiple accounts on the same forum. So I separated those two. BrokenCrowe was strictly for the rpg maker, and Blood_Crow was for modding. Whom I stopped using after I got bored of modding.

Sightless_Seer came along when I saw how bad things were getting in this forum (seifer era), and sincerely wanted to help out. But didn't want to do this under BrokenCrowe or Blood_Crowe. When the foolish prospect of me being a moderator got turned down, cause let's face it I am a lurker. :p. I decided to just cut the chords with that account too, and delete it. that is around the time Makubex started FF8 modding.

Makubex came in here somewhere... Not exactly sure when. But this is when I got curious of how far I could push things. So I made a character out of her. I wanted to see... let us say, people help girls more than guys. I wanted to see how far I could take that. Soon I grew a bit guilty, cause i knew what feelings these people had for Makubex were real. So I cut the strings, and ended Makubex's life as a modder...

The_Scarred_Raven came about out of boredom, nothing more, nothing less.

And now lastly to my main account, who I really am Mendelevium.
I made this as a fresh start. I wanted to start over, and generally "forget" about my colorful internet past.
But certain events have lead to this moment, and I now must make this post.

I would live to apologize to anyone who I have hurt. I want to apologize to everyone I have decieved.
My social experiments got carried away. And I know that I have made many mistakes.
I am just a nerd-boy who is socially awkward, and curious about how far he can go, and what he could get away with.
Really all too easy on the internet.

Again, I am sorry.

Completely Unrelated / Legality Issues (Psp hacking)
« on: 2010-03-21 21:24:55 »
Alright, it seems I have been making a lot of post lately. XD.
But well being the retro gamer that I am I have made a vast collection of old games. PSX included.
And I read somewhere that hacking your psp is legal, and putting pops loader (psx emulator for psp) is also legal. It is only illegal if you use pirated games.

And here I have my original copy of FF7, luckily my little siblings didn't wreck it like they did my original suikoden II *weeps*.
Anyways, I have noticed that there are several little mods for the psx version such as difficulty, and spell names that directly affect the iso image of the FF7 psx version. Would it be possible to directly mod the iso then use the psp program to make it into an eboot file. Or is that considered illegal? Is any of this illegal?

I just want to be able to play my old favorites on the go, just want to know if it's possible to have them modded as well. >.>.

Thanks,
mendel

Completely Unrelated / Chrono Trigger SNES vs. PSX vs. DS
« on: 2010-03-20 21:42:02 »
Alright. I hear they keep on remaking this game, and it's a classic. And I have found myself itching to play it for ages now.
As it is, there are three copies that i know of, and i know they are all faulty.

I hear the snes version the battles lag quite a bit, the psx version has some music glitches, and appalling loading times *between scenes, menus, etc.*, and I have heard nothing of the DS version.

As I have a DS I was thinking about getting my hands on the newer one, but I believe i have the psx remake some wheres in my old box of PSX games. And I am unsure about the SNES one, I may have that somewhere. XD.

But, my main reason for posting this thread is: Which version is better? Worse? Which one would your recommend to a first time player of Chrono Trigger. *shrugs* I don't know, I think that is it. ^.^.

Completely Unrelated / What are someGood Free MMOs?
« on: 2010-02-05 07:11:12 »
Well lately I have started playing online games. World of Warcraft, being the only one at my finger tips that i even remotely know about...
But, budget is tight. And I want to know some good free ones. :D.
I have started playing Dungeon and Dragons online... but, yeah... Any one know of some good free ones?
A lot of the ones i have tried are missing something.... Not sure what it is though. And WoW is lacking something as well... meh...
so yeah.

Thanks,
Mendel
