Hey. What a first Post eh? Damn shame.

Anyways: Card and Driver -
Geforce 6800 Ultra with the 66.81/66.93/67.02 (I change as neccesary, but the bolded one is the current)

Now I can't go down to 5x.xx cause I also play some more recent games which seem to die without at least 61.77(Sometime I need 66.81)
Also I Have tried the game With and WITHOUT the 1.2 Patch (Geforce).

As said above my problem is that I get those blackboxes/ graphic corruption. Its a layering problem no? (Picked that up somewhere.) I have tried that FFSA fix in the Great FF7 FAQ (That one works wonderfully. FF7 that is.). Nah uh. No go. In fact where are at first there was just the black boxes, that 'fix' introduced 'scanlines'. I can't say grid lines cause only horizontal lines appeared, but appear they did.

8-bit textures does fail in Config, even though it is enabled (checked with Rivatuner.) Any help would be greatly appericiated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: The problem is 'averted' with Software Rendering. But its, without question, far too ugly. Not to mention the Menu's are deformed. I thought I could bear it but its too 'irksome' didn't even enter Ifrit's cave and I gave up. *sigh* Any help would be appriciated.

*sigh* Can't seem to fix this. And the old TNT2 system thats right by me is missing a monitor (that would have fixed this.) Anyway. Switching to the PSX version (emulated of course.), hope there is eventually a fix for this.

Is your video card overclocked at all? If it is, try reseting it back to the manufacturer's default clock speed and see if it helps.

I just installed it and I got rid of it by disableing AA. But then again I am using a Radeon card.

Thats all I can suggest, AF works freat, but the Gridlines show up as soon as AA is enabled. I figure I didn't play it with AA the first time around, no need to this time.

Hi!

I remember contacting EA about this problem a while ago. I am sorry to say the only answer I got was to update my graphics drivers. Seriously, do you think that game companies think that nobody tries these things? :D

EA has the worse technical support ever.  Their replies all seem automated.  I specifically say I use the latest driver in my e-mail about a game and the only suggestion they give is to update my graphics driver.  Bunch of morons.

Hehe! Yeah I agree 100% with you on that one! Here's what I got:

Make sure that you have closed any programs or tasks running in the background
as sometimes one of the programs can conflict with the game.  Background
applications such as anti-virus programs are often the cause of conflicts.

Hold down the Ctrl, Atl, and Delete keys at the same time
This will bring up the "Task Manager", follow the steps bellow in order:

1) Click the "Processes" tab.
2) Click on the gray bar that says User Name to sort by user name.
3) Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user
names.
4) Click on END PROCESS
5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for
this user profile.

I'm going to need some more system information. Can you send me the information
from a program called dxdiag.exe.  To do this:

1.  Go to Start -> Run.
2.  In the box, type the following: dxdiag
3.  Hit "OK"
4.  Click the "Save All Information" button on the first screen of the
application.
5.  Then on top of the "Save As" box that pops up, click the arrow just to the
right of the "Save In" box, and select Desktop, then click Save.
6.  Finally, attach the dxdiag.txt to your email reply.

After we receive this file we can continue troubleshooting the issues at hand
and hopefully come to a solution.

Keep in mind that FF8 is not officially supported by winXP.

Great, huh? Heehee! :D
