As we all know, Air Buster takes 5x normal damage from behind (= the side he didn't attack last turn) and, sometimes, we want to remove this. This data is stored in the scene.bin (Formation tab). Air Buster is considered as a "Third Side attack" by PrC and is the only enemy (As far as I know) that calls that formation. I cannot test it right now because I don't have any save nearby, but soon I will have one... I hope. I think this is as easy as changing this formation to remove that stat from Air Buster. Maybe a random encounter can have this too...

General Discussion / [FF7] Sector 7 pillar bug
« on: 2011-02-28 19:09:31 »
This was in Completely Unrelated, but it goes better here :P

Try doing that WITHOUT using cheat. I didn't.

The only bad point is that you cannot advance in the story until you talk to Barret, which is impossible. But it's funny.

Nyark nyark...

Troubleshooting / [REL] FF7 Mods switching
« on: 2011-02-27 23:04:39 »
Mods switching is as few batch files which changes the mods for you. You can do it by yourself or take mine, that doesn't matter. Currently supported : ArmorVil's AV Mod, Lost Wing's Mod PC version, gjoerulv's "Hardcore" Mod and the original (backup). Also Bosola's Rebirth Mod PC version which I can't distribute since Bosola told me to not. Well, whatever.

*** If you are too lazy to do it yourself and prefer download the already-made files, just don't read the following ***

Make backups of your originals ff7.exe battle.lgp scene.bin flevel.lgp kernel.bin and kernel2.bin by renaming them adding "_nm" (without quotes) between the last character of the name and the extension (so ff7.exe become ff7_nm.exe). Now download the Backup batch file (link at the end). Run it. If everything goes well, you'll see the "Backup restored successfully!" message. Now, have the Lost Wing's scene kernel and kernel2 renamed the same way but with "lw" instead of "nm" (scene_lw.bin). Do the same for ArmorVil's AV Mod and gjoerulv's "Hardcore" Mod with "av" and "hm" respectively. You can download it to have it easier too. Put the four batch files into your FF7 directory.

Important : All the FF7.exe are patched with MDef fix, Transparent dialog boxes, 9999 limit breaker (limit for everything = 32767), CSith and Gypt Instant. They also have Menu Reconstruction Mod with the recommanded settings.

Now, you can create shorcuts on the desktop and just click them to change the mods. This is how I do this. All your battle_**.lgp and scene_**.bin files must be in the data\battle directory while flevel_**.lgp files must be in data\field folder. Same goes for the KERNELs, in the data\kernel directory. All the mods can now be changed without any trouble. If you have a private mod that you want to use this method to change it, you can send it to me, I'll be glad to work on it, but it'll cost you. Effectively, I will play it after :P

Now, I think that's it. Links just here :

Troubleshooting / FF8 isn't starting.
« on: 2011-02-27 17:10:11 »
Well, here is my problem : After tried Colly's battle Hardcore patch, I wanted to get back my backup, and so I did. But the prob froze and it never finished. Not a big issue since I reinstalled the game. Then I applied Aali's custom graphics drivers and booted the game. Then I got the "Oops, something very bad happened..." and it froze. I tried almost everything after, including not applying Aali's driver and install the game on another drive, uninstalled many times, nothing did it. This is now I request your help, because I know the problem isn't from Aali's driver since I cannot play it without neither than with. If you have an idea for something I could do that I may forget (say about everything - there may be some things that are obvious but that I could've missed), tell me. I've never had such an issue before.

EDIT : Sorry ^^

I (partially) resolved my problem. In fact, the crash was due to the 1.2 patch. It works all great with the original FF8.exe but Aali's driver doesn't support it. Would it be possible to adapt your driver so it works with 1.0 FF8.exe, Aali? It isn't a big issue to play Full Screen but I'd really like to be able to play windowed. Thanks in advance.

P.S.: I say P files, but it can be whatever file is possible.

WIP / [WIP] Vgr new mod for FF7 (Remade Mods)
« on: 2011-01-30 16:49:59 »
After reading the AV Mod topic and the Rebirth one (Lost Wings' too), I came to the idea of making one, too. I plan on doing some tweaking like this :

- Some curatives items inflicts statues;

- Some items can be reflected;

- There is armor/accessory proper to each character;

- There will be some enemies change;

- New enemy skills;

- Some new magics;

- Unseen materias that add new features;

- Some tweaking in AI;

- Deleting useless materias/items/magics and replace them;

- Modification in game script (thanks to myst6re with Makou Reactor) :

           - Modifying events so there will be new events and some things never seen;

           - Removing events that lots of FF7 players are tired of;

- Modification in World Map (thanks to Aali with map2obj / obj2map) :

           - Add some new cities (yes, new cities, but from existing map/models)
(Not AS easy AS I thought)

- Battle scenes modification (thanks to NFITC1 with Proud Clod and Squall78 with Hojo) :

            - Tweak battle scenes to replace them by other ones;

            - Change enemies locations and formations;

- Modification of some limits;

- Modification of the shops

This is all for now, if you have any ideas, just tell me. I will post videos and some screens when I will be ready to. I am familiar enough with Wall Market and Hojo but not with Proud Clod. Of course, I'll have to. If you are interested, tell me, this will motive me to advance in this :)

Oh, and yeah, like Armorvil, I take my username, but if you have any suggestion, feel free to propose. Please keep in mind that nothing here is in stone, everything can change.

*** EDIT ***

I plan on remaking the Rebirth/Lost Wings/AV Mods (maybe Gjoerulv "hardcore" mod too) to my likings, with more materias, new items...
(Maybe just ONE big mod by all of them...)

Completely Unrelated / Aali's fanclub
« on: 2011-01-15 01:08:53 »
I think that Aali is the better programmer on this forum, if not, he's good. obesebear once said : "What cant you do? Seriously" And I agree. Aali is good. We like him so much. So, someone gave me the idea of a fanclub, then now there's one. Aali, dont be modest, you are a master. Our master ^^ Anyone have to say anything? :)

To the mods : Didnt know where to put that topic. Feel free to move it.

Hi all! (Hope the title of the topic is smart enough :P )
I would like to know how to convert SSCF files. For those who fight... duh, I messed up with the FF7AC battle theme :P For those who don't know, these files are used to be Crisis Core : Final Fantasy VII music. I want them to listen to the original and not the ones from the OST. I was able to get working everything else but the music. I want now to be able to get the music too. If you know how, then please tell me. If you want a tutorial for the others files or how to extract them (I got more than 10 500 files with that method instead of ~ 8700 with FF7CC Extractor available here), just ask (PM if the thread is more than 60 days old). I can also do a lot of work on this game (I plan on putting Zack/Angeal/Genesis/Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII, but I couldn't release it), but now I am just working on music.

Thanks for all in advance,
Vgr255

EDIT : Title modified for SGT files as well.

EDIT2 : Title modified for MID/MP3/WAV files as well.

EDIT3 : Title modified for help on FF7Music.

Graphical / FF8 Patch for FF7 & Seifer/GFs Patches
« on: 2010-12-23 18:23:43 »
Hi!
I'm starting a new project, a mod for FF7. This mod consist in replacing the characters of FF7 by the ones of FF8. It's like that :

Cloud > Squall
Barret > Laguna
Tifa > Zell
Aerith > Selphie
Nanaki > Angelo
Yuffie > Rinoa
Caith Sith > Moomba
Vincent > Irvine
Cid > Ward
Sephiroth > Seifer
Young Cloud > Squall in flashbacks

EDIT : Enemies :
MP > Galbadian
Grunt > Elite-T
Ideas?

So, with enough luck and help... no, I mean more than enough, a lot. The Alpha version may be ready for end January. Screens will come ASAP. If some of you folks who knows a lot about modding, if you can help me in converting and changing things out of FF7/FF8, it would me helpful. You can tell me if you want some of the characters being replaced by other ones, I could do it.

Oh, sorry for my English, it's still my second language, after French.
